Paulinho puts his boot through the ball first touch and it’s like a homing missile towards the goal lmao
4-1 is a route as it is but it’s unbelievable that the margin of victory isn’t larger. A ton of golden chances today and we really could’ve erased the GD deficit. Happy with the 3 points. Big win.
So if we repeat the win at home that should be 3rd place secured. It's still tough to qualify BUT if Ajax beat Dortmund in both their games we could have a chance with Dortmund at home.
Ajax are a class above everyone else in this group. Dortmund may have won against us, but the result was still just a 1-0
That Paulinho goal, all of Pote's work. But it proves that if this imbecile learns that less it more, and not to take so many touches on the ballz he'll improve. First touch always wins.
Dortmund getting their morale destroyed should hopefully be good for when we get our turn against them next time.
Also let's not forget a win today means we get 2.8M euros prize money. So important to get results in Europe.
The goal difference in the Ajax Dortmund game is a big boost too Between this and our 3+ today it makes it a bit closer if we can beat them (Dortmund)
Pote needed to send Paulinho a through pass about 10 seconds earlier. Dude was wide open and Pote was hogging big time. Only reason Paulinho got the ball is because Pote lost it. There was several instances last night where our guys were hogging the ball way too long. We could have scored 6 against Besiktas if we actually passed to the wide open man
Erling Haaland ruled out injured until December. If there's a time to pounce and take advantage of Dortmund being weakened then the time is now.
Not entirely definite how long he'll be out for, but reports are saying December could be expected. Dortmund also have a bunch of other players injured at the moment. https://bvbbuzz.com/2021/10/23/erling-haaland-december-injury-borussia-dortmund/
First we gotta look at our next game. Means nothing if we don't beat Besiktas, who I think will come to Alvalade and we'll play more defensive after losing 4-1.
I'd definitely expect Besiktas to tighten up their defence after getting shellacked last time. But as long as we're not the ones cagouing the bed, I think we're still the ones in the advantage seat in that H2H match up. Especially with us playing at home next. Dortmund should be beatable with all the injury issues they have and how much Ajax could open them up. But main concern I have is our ability to score on them. If only Paulinho could have half the poachers instinct that Bas Dost showed during his time here. If Paulinho could be more like him and less like Andraz Sporar, we'd have a better chance.
