This ^^^^ But good thing is Berghuis is a lefty, and Depay shoots right. So we have weapons from both sides of the box now
Yep... when was the last time a goal scored from a free-kick? Didn't recall anything recent. Also..... need somebody who can unleash cannonballs from distance on an open play. Think of Jonk or Seedorf. None of the current midfielders have the appetite or ability to do this consistently. This would keep the opposing team practice social-distance more, and come out farther (not simply congregating and barricading in their own penalty box).
How so?? Are you saying each European country's FA decides whether to release their players to the World Cup??
Gravenberch. he has scored some of those long range goals at Ajax. Gakpo could do as well imo. the lanky guys
Personally, I don’t like the WC every 2 years or too many teams/matches. It is tough on players and quality degrades. I feel that the only reason to do 2 years is for money.
And could their vote not possibly be "bought"?? Maybe a stupid question, but I have no idea how all this works
No, the FA's decide wether UEFA goes with the idea of the two year WC. If they donot agree with it, FIFA can't do shit.
Looks like they have arrived already Arsene Wenger believes football IS warming to his idea of a World Cup every two years https://t.co/qLnLrXK1ob— Mail Sport (@MailSport) October 13, 2021
I would say Ihattaren will dethrone him if he hits the ground rolling at Samporida and like what Lang and danjuma did respectively. he currently has fitness issues which is as result of not playing before due his transfer Backlog and also a hamstring injury.
There was a lot of corruption in our region where votes were bought from small country FAs. This has been well documented in 'the Fall of the House of FIFA' by David Conn.
To be bought, you have to be in a position that makes it attractive. Everybody sees how much money UEFA makes from the EUROS. The whole idea of that Bi-annual WC is to replace the EUROs with a WC. So for all other confederations it's a win situation as they instead of every 4 years (their own confederation championships do generate shit in money) money from the WC they can now grab it every two years. For the UEFA FA's it means the money that is theirs, gets spread out over all the other confederations (and alot of that into the pockets of their corrupt officials. So FIFA has nothing to offer to any of the UEFA Fa's, only take their money. Without UEFA a WC has no meaning, no attraction to sponsors etc. So if UEFA tells we keep our EURO at the same time as that xtra WC, what do you think will happen with the sponsor funds? Heading to UEFA or to FIFA?
Weghorst out with covid for Wolfsburg. So he jeopardized both his club competitiveness and of the Orange Squad.
I dunno, but he was a bit evasive some time ago about what he exactly ment with some social media outings about vaccination.
I watched Barca-Valencia on the weekend. With Ansu Fati back, Memphis played well (a clinical thunderous PK that he should do more often, an assist/lay off to Fati) as he has someone to compliment him. With Busquet in the back, FDJ has the freedom to roam and venture forward with those run. I hope LVG can find time (in Nation Leagues perhaps) to have someone in the back (preferably Gravenberch or Koop or someone else rather than De Roon) and push FDJ up front as an option. With FDJ in the back, the other team can do high pressing, taking FDJ out and then Oranje will lose the midfield's control/creativity. It is something that worth to experiment/test after November matches.
Blind scored today for Ajax in their UCL match vs. Dortmund. Highlight starts at 1:51: He also supplied the assist on their fourth goal (by Haller) to put the icing on the cake. Meanwhile, de Vrij scored for Inter in their UCL match vs. Sheriff Tiraspol - with an assist from compatriot Denzel Dumfries. (Starts at 7:25.) It was a good day for Dutch defenders.
Memphis was good, and Barca may be getting back on track. He typically plays the full 90 for both club and country. I worry that Koeman and LVG are running him into the ground.
Frenkie going forward a lot for Barca making runs into the penalty area is great to see. Totally agree that Memphis should smash he PK like this. Cillessen just rooted LOL. Memphis also working pretty hard off the ball most of the time which I figured he would have to do in order to keep things good with Barca support. Lazy Memphis on occasion in the past is not a good look.
UEFA on the way I posted should be taken: https://www.espn.com/soccer/fifa-wo...ons-could-quit-fifa-over-world-cup-row-report
Boadu scored for Monaco today in their Europa League game vs. PSV. Starts at 0:50: Gakpo pulled one back in the second half. Starts at 4:17:
Provisional squad announced… the usuals are all there. Lang and Danjuma are included. Recalls for Wijndal (he’s slowly finding his groove after returning from injury trouble), and Rensch (interesting… he’s been a bench-warmer lately ).
