This might nail it. And he's won everything and become an all-time Chelsea legend in the process. If anyone of these dang fabregé egg children can stay healthy, one of them could have a career like his.
Not really. Azpi is a pretty "stay at home defender"-remember Azpi plays some center-back too. I think Scally is more mobile. I would say Kimmich when he was a full-back.
Azpi started as a forward and midfielder and has played left back and right back primarily throughout his career. I think Joe has a bit more movement in his hips on the ball and as of today azpi is way more solid defensively (duh). honestly I don’t see Kimmich comparison. Kimmich is a center mid/dmid that pep did pep things with.
Please read: he played cm/dm almost solely with a little CB for Leipzig. then pep played him at RB. now he plays CM/DM. Main difference is went from CM/DM to RB for a time vs Joe never playing CM at all and only at wide defensive positions.
No need to battle over the analogies, guys. There is something about the way he moves that is reminiscent of a younger Azpilicueta, but no one is a perfect analogy. We should be so lucky that he develops into either. Right now, I'd take him being the evolutionary Steve Cherundolo, with the ability to play on the left as well.
Right on cue, the website totalsocceranalysis has a scouting report on Scally up today. (free to read, but sign-up required) https://totalfootballanalysis.com/p...adbach-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics
He played all 270 minutes. I do own I was paying little attention to him. My eyes were on Pepi, KHF, Leyva, Busio, Kayo, AOC, and Reyna. I knew little of Scally if memory serves but it’s been two years and BoMo snapped him up right after the tourney.
I remember reading posts that he was an up-n-coming player but I didn't see it in the U17 WC. I was looking at Reyna trying to dribble through the whole opponent's backline.
I definitely see the Kimmich thing as well. Scally plays like a protypical German player, his mechanics/movements (which I guess is a complement haha)
Week after week, a solid contributor on both sides of the ball against top tier competition. I don’t see how he isn’t called up and used next window. If not, I hope we don’t here any more nonsense about how form matters.
I definitely think it’s time to call him in next window as long as nothing changes regarding his health and performance before then. At the same time, we only have two games, so I’m not sure we even need to rotate fullbacks apart from possibly a substitution if someone is looking tired in the second game.
Of course. I was on the fence about giving him a break or calling him in during the last window as I saw benefits to both. But now that he is further established at BMG, and the winter break is not too long after the November window, and our need for fullback depth is even more clear, I think it’s definitely the right time. I’m hoping that he doesn’t have to start until the next 3-game window, though.

Actually think we are going to call him up this window. There’s just absolutely zero rationale for Moore at this point. He’s gonna get the call. Relentless will from him to bust through this season for this club, has taken every opportunity he was given.

I assumed based on the scoreline that Bayern played its D team, but that is most definitely not the case. This was the real Bayern.
I do not even believe in things like bogey teams and what not but, it is hilarious how Bayern collapses against Gladbach every season. No matter who is coaching either team. Great to see Joe join the tradition.
