Maybe there's a Bulgarian team run by the mob that has enough cash to take him after the window has closed. *Fingers crossed*

But seriously, aren't 3 of the big 5 country's windows still open til tomorrow or end of today? If deadline was an issue in England, they could just loan him (w/ a buy option) to another country's club.

    Early list for winter window

    Confirmed:
    • Caden Clark, New York Red Bulls > Red Bull Leipzig
    • Chris Mueller, Orlando City > Hibernian

    Watchlist:
    • Ethan Horvath, GK Nottingham Forest > any MLS clubs would want him? Scandinavia? League Two? USL-League One? Is he good enough to start anywhere on this planet?
    • Matt Turner, GK, New England Revolution > EPL level clubs have to be taking notice. I would be thrilled if he could just find a decent club in Ligue 1 where he could be a consistent starter.
    • Zack Steffen, GK, Manchester City > I don’t see Steffen moving this next window, but he has to know that not playing isn’t helping him. He’ll have 1-2 years as a quality understudy for one of the biggest clubs in the world, and soon it’ll be time for him to be alright moving to a club like Everton (Howard) and carve out a solid career for himself.
    • Chituri Odunze, GK, Leicester City > he’s regressing at Leicester and needs a move before it’s too late.
    • Carlos Santos, GK, Benfica B > He’s not going to breakthrough for Benfica. But could he find a Scandinavian club or MLS club to take a shot at him?
    • Reggie Cannon, RB, Boavista > What’s his situation? How can he get out of it? Is anyone interested in him.
    • Bryan Reynolds, RB, Roma > Now I have reason to not like Mourinho even more. Only Mourinho does things like completely freezes a young player out. I would like to see a loan to Venezia or Spezia or similar.
    • Shaq Moore, RB, Tenerife > it’s really a shame that NO ONE wanted him after the Gold Cup. I just find that completely strange. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in MLS.
    • Miles Robinson, CB, Atlanta United > EPL clubs have to be taking notice.
    • Justin Che, CB, FC Dallas > I wouldn’t mind see him move to Bayern in the winter even though I would expect him to earn his stripes for the second team.
    • Lennard Maloney, CB, Borussia Dortmund > I don’t think Dortmund is going to work out for him. But I wouldn’t mind him coming to MLS.
    • George Bello, LB, Atlanta United > part of me says he’s not ready for the big 5, but I don’t want to see him stagnate in MLS. I wouldn’t mind him following the Sam Vines route to Belgium or Netherlands.
    • Kevin Paredes, LB/LM, DC United > He’s still very young, but Paredes has such a high ceiling. I would like to see a move to RB Salzburg or similar, for a year or two, then a bigger move, a la Aaronson.
    • Jonathan Gomez, LB, Louisville City > Sounds like he will be moving in the winter but we don’t know where yet.
    • Kelyn Acosta, CM, Colorado Rapids > Part of me thinks, Acosta is a MLS lifer. Another part of me says Acosta is ready for bigger and better things. I could see him at a club at a level like Feyenoord and doing really well. Or I could see Spezia, who wanted an American, taking him on.
    • Taylor Booth, CM, Bayern Munich > that move to Burnley would have been fantastic but unfortunately it did not transpire. I would like to see a move to Netherlands or Belgium where he can be expected to play a lot. And with him almost out of contract, I don’t see why Bayern wouldn’t cut him loose.
    • Cole Bassett, AM, Colorado Rapids > He made the right choice to not choose a club that would keep him in the doghouse of reserves. But I do think Bassett can play in one of the bigger leagues in Europe.
    • Tyler Boyd, RW, Caykur Rizespor, on loan from Besiktas > I know he likes Turkey. But I would like to see him in MLS.
    • Duane Holmes, AT, Huddersfield > I would like to see Holmes in MLS.
    • Emmanuel Sabbi, RW, Odense > I want to see him take that next move to Italy.
    • Malik Tillman, AT, Bayern Munich > with all of FC Dallas guys going to Bayern, I would like to see FC Dallas get Tillman. He’s not good enough for Bayern but if he’s good enough to flirt with Bayern’s first team, he could impress in MLS.
    • Ricardo Pepi, FW, FC Dallas > the sky is the limit, and I’d go to the biggest club with the greatest chance to play. On this note, I could even see Bayern eyeing him as a replacement for Lewandowski when he eventually becomes too old.
    • Daryl Dike, FW, Orlando City > Evidently, Dike hit a wall this summer. And that’s alright. But I don’t see him breaking out of the funk in the same place. I wouldn’t mind seeing him return to Barnsley or another ambitious CL team where he can bang in goals like it’s the cool thing to do.
    • Cade Cowell, FW, San Jose Earthquakes > Get out of San Jose while you can! Go somewhere that needs a fast and physical forward and with a track record of developing players.
    • Andrija Novakovich, FW, Frosinone > Come to MLS, please. Charlotte or Saint Louis should be licking their chops to sign him. That... or I’m sure FC Cincinnati would love to sign him. They’re the Greuther Firth of MLS.
    • Sebastian Soto, FW, Porto B, on loan from Norwich City. > also, come to MLS please.

Steffen is stuck. Both he and City's starter signed contract extensions. Holmes definitely needs to move as HT has gone into administration and have been hit with huge point deductions and will certainly be going down.

Novakovich has been handed a chance to shine as two forwards rated above him have picked up injuries and he will start.

One of the rumors is that one of the German clubs is Dortmund. Haaland is gone after this season. Maybe he could be picked up in the winter and play a few when Haaland needs a rest or get some sub minutes. Would love to see him with Gio.

Kyle Duncan from New York Red Bulls to KV Oostende has been confirmed.

We also know that Caden Clark will be transferred from New York Red Bulls to RB Leipzig. But he’s likely to be loaned.

Also, Chris Mueller is set to depart Orlando City for Hibernian.

Now, let’s look at who needs to be looking at a move...

Yanks-Abroad that aren’t playing and who need a move to improve: Ethan Horvath (move to Nottingham has been a disaster), Bryan Reynolds (I strongly dislike Jose Mourinho), Lennard Maloney (not good enough for Dortmund but maybe good enough at a lower level), Duane Holmes (would like to see in MLS), Tyler Boyd (would like to see in MLS), Sebastian Soto (should come to MLS), Andrija Novakovich (should come to MLS), and Julian Green (now is the right time to come to MLS).

Yanks-Abroad that aren’t playing much but who could probably stay where they’re at: Matthew Hoppe (injury), Erik Palmer-Brown (fight it out), Matt Miazga (fight it out), Niko Gioacchini (he’s getting enough minutes to fight it out), and Owen Otasowie (a move isn’t going to help his mental status)

Yanks-Abroad that could probably upgrade or move elsewhere to get noticed more: Brenden Aaronson (too good to stay in Austria), Johnny Cardoso (would like to see if a move would help him get noticed more), Shaq Moore (wouldn’t mind seeing him replace Duncan at NYRB), Reggie Cannon (Boavista seems like a hot mess), Joel and Alan Sonora (would like to see what they could do in MLS), and Emmanuel Sabbi (would like to see him in MLS).

Baby Yanks-Abroads that need a move away to become a senior player...even if means coming to MLS: Taylor Booth, Jonathan Tomkinson, Chituri Odunze, Carlos Dos Santos, Malick Sanogo, and Folarin Balogun.

MLS Players who need to move for an upgrade: Ricardo Pepi (strike while the iron is hot. But go somewhere where he’ll get chances to score), Daryl Dike (He’s already shown that he can play abroad. It would be a waste to not capitalize), George Bello (he has reached his ceiling at Atlanta), James Sands (he’s going to stagnate if he doesn’t leave), Cade Cowell (go somewhere to develop), Miles Robinson (it’s almost now or never time and he’s too good to just be a MLS lifer), Matt Turner (he’s ready and should be able to start at a number of clubs in the top 5), Kevin Paredes (RB Salzburg would be the kind of club that he should move to), Cole Bassett (if he doesn’t go soon, he’ll stagnate),

MLS Players who should start looking but should wait unless a really good deal comes along: Jesus Ferreira, John Tolkin, Justin Che, Djordje Mihailovic, Gabriel Slonina, Aaron Herrera, DeJuan Jones, Justen Glad, Henry Kessler, Josh Atencio, Paxten Aaronson, Quinn Sullivan, and Jack McGlynn.

On your list of players that should move to MLS I would include Horvath, Johnny Cardoso (to get more consistent playing time), Uly Llanez, Shaq Moore, Joel and Alan Sonora, Sabbi, Tomkinson (on loan only if he gets playing time), Odunze (on loan only if he gets playing time), Haji Wright.

In the baby Yanks Abroad -- You missed Frederico Oliva, he played for our youth teams. He just turned 17 and playing U23 for Atletico Madrid and has trained with their senior team.

It sure would be ironic if Uly Llanez moved to MLS. Is Klieban still his agent? I assume so. That may slow things down....just a little.

We might as well get this thread cranking with news and rumors. Silly season is about to start. One player that's been on a little Euro tour is US U20 Diego Luna of El Paso. He was in Portugal last week and appears to be in Belgium this week.

Is this kid actually good? I’ve watched him twice and I don’t see it. Of course, what clue can I have by watching twice. He looks like a guy who is pretty mch at his ceiling to me.

Kinda funny how it works. Haven’t we all seen starlets who dazzled at the youth level only to fade away while watching guys who looked like they were gonna middle out become stars?

He was the only American player, to score from the run of play, at the Revelations Cup. He had 9 goals and 5 assists, in his rookie season in USL. He was 17 years old, for most of the season.

Raw, but he's got some tools there. Only just turned 18.

He's got an unusual frame. Short and stocky advanced playmaker/winger.
I like the list of weaknesses in the video above: "unsure if out of shape." :)
Really good football IQ. Good at dribbling, ball control, etc.
However, does he pass the eye test of the profile that Euro clubs are looking for?

I think of Jose Gallegos and his profile. 5'9" kinda stocky, playmaker. He's still in the USL years after he came to our attention.

Well, there's a difference between "is this kid any good" and "does he pass the eye test of the profile that Euro clubs are looking for?" Both are valid, and related, but one can be "yes" and the other "no."

As you noted, Europe tends to look to the US for players with physical attributes that they can't replicate (or rather, that are simply rare worldwide) -- there's a reason why players like Bryan Reynolds and Dante Sealy get so much interest with little experience.

So a smaller, not athletically elite playmaker -- which is already hard to be an asset at the highest levels -- might not attract attentions.

But he's also young, where players make leaps and bounds in athleticism, and 5'9" stocky playmakers actually have a pretty good track record. Low centers of gravity are good in dribblers.

Is he a worse prospect than Richie Ledezma coming out at 18? They are different -- Luna seems more dribble heavy than Ledezma, who really had a nicely mature game for his age. But if PSV could take a shot on Ledezma, Luna doesn't seem like a stretch.

I don't know that I've seen enough of Luna to make definitive statements ... just seems like there definitely could be something there.

Not gonna lie. If a guy has a chance at being a solid contributor to our U20’s in this day and age there better damn well better be something there!:p
I expect it, even if that means solid MLS contributor in his future. We have more than enough players now where the floors at U20 should be pretty good.
Exceptions of course, but just how I feel now.
Six years ago not so much, but now, um yeah.

We might as well add recent Ricardo Pepi gossip here. He seems like one of the most likely MLS transfers. If the bidding is already at 13 million, then its just a matter of time. From an FCD perspective we have Pepi, Che, and Ferreira to keep an eye on. I've heard rumors of "interest" in all three. Nothing on Pomykal or others.

TBF I wouldn’t bid on Paxton. Maybe if I could get him for nothing I’d take a flyer. He needs to stay healthy next year and make an impact.

I really had super high hopes when I saw him on the U17, with Josh S. That’s why you wait until they are playing against men.

  24. No love for Damian Las? In the last few weeks he actually got a couple of games with the Fulham reserves and made the bench in a Championship match. His contract expires next June per Transfermarkt. Still only 19.
