Dest just made Musah look bad with a really nice assist that Yunus forgot to mark.

Musah then proceeds to break about 4 Barcelona players’ ankles.

Did Sergino play right forward? I guess that would make him the rich man's Paul Arriola. His playing forward for Barca, but right back for us would be amusing.

Yeah, I thought Dest was good. My worry for him, though, is that if he's going to be a full-on winger instead of outside back who can push up, he's competing with a different class of players at Barcelona. When, say, Dembele is healthy, would they prefer someone with that pace and 1v1 ability to Dest?

With regard to Musah, it was a mixed bag. He's got great technical and physical ability that can lead to great plays, but just seems to switch off mentally at times or maybe not process things quickly enough for that level. Hopefully, the mental side of his game catches up with the physical as he gets more experience.

Yeah, Musah could have done better there. But it seemed like Coutinho was not his man. There was a Valencia CB standing 2 yards upfield. WTF was he doing there? I think Kasey Keller was too harsh on Musah on that one, and he did react to just about get there in time.

Interesting that Tim Weah started at CF for Lille yesterday, with Jonathan David coming off the bench to replace him for the last 20 minutes.

Sergino has been pretty darn productive lately. A goal and three assists (not technically three but essentially) in his last three matches for club and country.

Well, Dest started at RB, on paper, but he really played more like a rightsided midfielder/RW.

ESPN FC had Musah's postgame interview, but all just general team-related questions and answers, nothing specific to him.

Furth has played 8 BuLi matches and Green has started 5 and subbed on in 1. In the last 5 matches he has alternated playing; started 2, missed 2 and played 23 minutes yesterday. So his minutes are decreasing.

Furth has only 1 point in those 8 matches and it became clear by the 3rd or 4th, as many suspected, that they would not be able to play their possession-style slow buildup "Man City Lite" scheme in BL1. They are desperately looking for a different approach and are trying more size in the midfield and more direct speed/counter options. US eligible Tim Tillman has taken most of Green's minutes. Tillman is more of risk taking creative passer instead of the ball-secure keep possession approach that made Julian successful at CM the last 2+ years.

Green is in a similar boat to Weston at Juve; things are not going well for the club and they are trying different things.

If M Robinson transfers this winter, he won't be with his new team until January 1. That's how it's been for every player from MLS who's transferred out of the country in the winter, as MLS contracts run through December 31. If this theoretical transfer happens differently than that then it would be the only exception that I'm aware of (contractually legal one, anyway--there may have been a player or two who violated their contracts to leave without agreement).

ESPN FC also had the Sergino Dest postgame interview. He said that he enjoyed playing further forward, but that he will play wherever the coach wants him and wherever the team needs him to play.

I suppose that is the perfect answer.

I don't know specifically in this case, but it seems to be the standard with young guys with high potential transferring out of MLS in the last few years.

Eh. Musah had his mark after a 70 yard run. The whole back line was out of sorts.

And I don't think that's a bad thing for two reasons. First of all, quality backups are valuable - especially at a position like outside back that is physically demanding. Second, I don't necessarily think having a slightly different skill set is a bad thing at all. Scally may not have the pace that A-Rob has or the technical "swag" that Dest has, but someone who is a good defender who can contribute some to the attack brings some tactical flexibility. Based on what I've seen, Scally is very solid defensively and could be a good late-game sub to bring more defensive nous into the lineup.

He seems to like scoring goals from range.

In our system, would he be more of a 6 or 8/10?

Also imagine how many more players will be out injured without the 4-5 weeks to heal up after a season. Brutal.

I'm not going to pretend like I've watched a single game in the Danish league since maybe some sketchy Feilhaber stream from a decade ago, but based on the highlights I have seen of Cappis I would guess 8, and maybe could be a 6. Hopefully others who are more familiar with him can weigh in...

Weston's situation both with his club and of course with the MNT, is better by far. He was kept out of his club match this weekend like a number of others were after a fairly late return from international duty.
