Ronaldo and Alex Ferguson starting the contractually agreed upon Balon d'Or campaign for CR7.

I'm wondering if he'll respond the same way he did with Modric if Benzema wins it.

Ron not really in the race. He'd rather Benz win than Messi though. Think Messi, Benz, Lewa will be the top 3. Not sure about the order. FIFA's best will probably have Ron and Messi in Top 3 as NT coaches and captains vote too.

There's going to be a huge push from Real Madrid for Benzema. This is another chance to show Mbappe/Haaland the power of Real Madrid.

It is. And I’m counting on it too. We’ve usually been successful in these campaigns but with the super league stuff still fresh in people’s minds Idk. I hope Benzema wins it. He deserves it. But I don’t think he will. Giving it to Messi is just…….. lame. I’d rather Lewandowski win it if it’s not Karim.

Messi should have no part of this. Benzema, Lewandowski, or Salah should be top 3.

    Bingo.

Florentino should show the world (and Cristiano again) how influential he truly is..

Would be a joke if messi is top 3. So it will be a joke.

One of the reasons for me his career achievements is part farce. He doesn't even have to try, people want him to be the best ever so bad they create tournaments and hand out everything to him.

As long as he isn't injured they will argue he should win. This is a guy who doesn't care to run on the pitch and gives as little as possible if he isn't running with the ball or in scoring position.

Not true. Cristiano only cares about himself. If that was true, he would have shown up to Modric's ceremony. He wouldn't sick the rabid family members on Luka to be so vicious and came out to properly congratulate him.

So CR7 isn't really as unselfish as we thought. Luka Modric is a model teammate, and if CR7 couldn't be happy for him, I doubt he would for Benzema. Even if Benzema was the best wingman he could've ever asked for.

I hope Benzema wins it, but he has always been underrated. It's gonna be Messi because his fanboys are creaming over that Copa win. Otherwise Lewandowski.

We got Jose. And this was like a few months ago too before his heroics for France and his latest carry job with us.

Pretty crazy how Benzema almost beat Switzerland with those comeback goals and showing Lloris which side the penalty kick was going. He does it again and again.

Then Pogba decided to dance and celebrate couple minutes too long and Benz had to come off. Crazy game.

    Zidane in the Telefoot program:

“Benzema deserves to win the Ballon d'Or. He is an incredible player, I have had the great honor of coaching him. He knows how to do it all on the pitch. He is above the rest, I hope he can be rewarded with the Ballon d'Or. Right now, Benzema is in a cloud. I would give him the Ballon d'Or ",

    Benz should win it.

Problem is those outside Madrid usually underrate him.

And no way should the midget win it. He's in a farmers league.

spot on. That’s why I’ve always despised him. Had his hand ball cost us the Capello League Title… the world would have celebrated it like the Maradona hand ball. For me the best 3 of the year were Benzema, Lewa, Salah. But I’ll tell you right now, Messi has it in the bag. (I’m trying to be as negative in mindset as posible so I won’t be surprised later if he wins it)

I love listening to Benzema speak these days. He went from El Gato to almost a terrifying presence. He just oozes confidence, leadership, toughness. He has stepped into and filled the shoes of many greats before him.

As much as the hype train ramps up, it's unlikely they will pick anyone but Messi because of the Copa America. He'll batter the Ligue Un and Club Brugge's and waltz to the Ballon D'Or because he's everyone's favorite choir boy.

I would say the Nations league is more of a contest now than Copa America. But they see what they want to and cherry pick when necessary to ensure a Leo Messi win.

I would take Benzema or Lewandowski over Messi. But it's always the same story. I would be over the moon if they chose Benzema.

Excellent article by Julien Laurens at Espn fc website. It seems they're on the #KarimBallondor hype train as well -

"As Luka Modric leaves the training ground and walks past Benzema, he could not help himself: "Balon de Oro," he says, smiling. The Croatian maestro knows what he is talking about. He won it back in 2018, at the same age Benzema is now."

Let's not forget who Messi plays for.

If Qatar can buy a world cup, they can buy a Ballon D'Or with their eyes closed.

You can also bet your bottom dollar Messi would never do something as classy as Modric did: Handing over the trophy to the new winner.

I check the gambling site. Benzema's odds is 16/1. The gambling site is good at predicting the winner. they might get it wrong for the odds-on favorite, but not the guy at 16/1. Let's see if Benzema's odds drops in the next few weeks.
