Bizarre criticism of Southgate by Klopp, Stones was a mainstay throughout the Euros, with over 50 caps. Not-so-subtle dig from Klopp at Southgate over Joe Gomez's England exclusion."Sometimes Gareth reacts if you are not playing for your club you can't play for the national team. Obviously there is a special thing for Mr Stones."#LFC— Neil Jones (@neiljonesgoal) October 15, 2021
When you look at his club career, there were some lows but overall he did very well. And when you look at his international career, it's been brilliant, always did so well for England and should continue starting as long as he plays like this.
With Kane lack of form I would definitely be looking to bring them two in the next squad width Abraham
Gomez is 24 and only once had something that could be described as a full season. Stones is also a better player than Gomez when both are playing and somewhere near their best with, as you say, a track record of playing for England.
Gomez is still not 100% I fully expect him to return to the fabulous form he was in before that dreadful injury
I watched Man City today. First half Foden played on the left wing, hugging the touchline. Can’t cut inside from there. Second half he played striker, or false 9 whatever you want to call it, up against the defenders, playing back to goal and making runs in behind. He was a ghost for the whole game essentially, completely wasting his talent.
RLC slowly getting himself back with a chance of a recall. Thought he did himself no harm at all tonight. Second best player after Mendy imo especially with his first half performance.
he was amazing on the left against Liverpool and great as a false 9 against Chelsea… He was ok today, but that’s one game and most of the city team were average today
Don’t know about you but “ok” isn’t the expectation I have of him. Also, I thought he couldn’t get the ball much against Chelsea as a false 9 and when he came on against PSG he was poor on the left.
de Bruyne was ok as well. I get what your saying, but as a young player he will have games like that. Can’t expect to be man of the match every game, especially when the rest of the team was average
Playing in a position where we lack depth as well. It's only a couple of games, but if he can get a decent run then there's no reason why he can't get back in the squad.
Yeah, if he continues to play this deep role that I think he should play then there’s definitely an opening for him and adds another dimension for us going forward and just adds competition to the whole Rice, Phillips and Henderson debate.

Southgate's lack of trust in sancho is being somewhat vindicated. He's arguably not even in the top three English attackers at his own club right now. I'm not sure he makes it into the next squad.
I think Southgate has some important decisions to make over the next few weeks if a number of his ‘ favourites’ continue to be in poor form as I think that had a impact on our display against Hungry with him keeping faith with those players despite poor league form. Obviously people will argue their form from the Euro’s should guarantee their place but not for me as you can’t just keep playing players because of what they did a few months ago. If they are out of form then they are just that and he should be looking now to be playing those who are more in form. However to be fair to Southgate, we appear to have a large number of players who are currently out of form so I guess it’s not an easy decision of who to replace those players with but he has to look to be playing more players who are in form or at least players that appear to be in better form than players like Sterling for example. I would definitely be having Greenwood back in the ranks and if he’s left out again in the next International window and Southgate uses the same excuse then more questions need to be answered because it’s just looking odd now.
Good performances for club or recent good performances for country should be the prerequisite of being selected in my view. I'd keep Sterling in because he fulfills the former. Our attacking options are so deep that it should rightly feel like a bit of a shark tank. If say Sacho continues to struggle then we have a volume of others players to choose from.
What are people's thoughts on the future of the right back position? With Ethan Laird performing well in The Championship there is an abundance of options coming through: Livramento Aarons Laird Lamptey The situation is more complicated because they're all duals and they'll be looking at James and Trent in front of them. Probably 3/4 will end up playing for other nations so we'll probably have to invest in the right player sooner rather than later. Personally I'd go with Livramento.
Livramento by a mile. I don't really rate arrans. Laird might not end up much. Lamptey seems to have fallen by the wayside.
