Eustaquio is a clever player. Has some great passing ability. He is good enough to play for a big 3 team in Portugal, maybe not as a starter but as a depth option for sure. I would be happy if Sporting were to sign him. He is still relatively young.
Since Qatar will be seeded and Portugal probably won’t be, would love to see a group like this at the World Cup: Qatar Portugal Canada Some African team something like that is probably possible.
The team is very aggressive but squander so many chances. Can't wait until the November games in Edmonton
AGENTE DE OTÁVIO: «MENTIRA, RECEBEMOS ZERO DO FC PORTO!» https://www.abola.pt/nnh/2021-10-13...vio-mentira-recebemos-zero-do-fc-porto/908790
Lets not forget that Mexico regularly makes it to the round of 16 in world cups. Thats not a bad result and Canada played better than Mexico when they faced each other last. Canada has made huge steps in developing quality players. We also have another really talented 17 year old striker coming up in Toronto's youth system. I also really like the coach. We are no where near the level of the mid level nations but we are for sure at the level of teams like Mexico and USA that have have played competitive at the group stages. That would be pretty cool for Canada at this stage of growth.
Mexico has often been seeded at the world Cup and seems to always get easy groups. Unlike Portugal. Portugal Will need a manageable group if we are going to do well. Santos history shows he only figures out his lineup part way through a a tournament. We tend to do better when we have an easy group and can grow into a tournament such as euro 2016 and world cup 2006
That Jaimaican Pitch was a sandbox. Unplayable. I would have straight up refused to play on that pitch. I don't even know how pitches like that fit the criteria as playable.
A draw with Mexico at the Azteca is a result many European sides would match. I think if teams like Serbia, Croatia, Netherlands went to the Azteca and played Mexico, it would result in either a draw or a loss. Many would argue Canada could have won that game Mexico is also ranked #9 in the world, just behind Portugal. This Canada team can be devastating on the counter-attack and its the type of football they will play at the World Cup. I think they may make it as far as the QF in Qatar if they avoid a group of death.
Ok, first of all his first team was Porto. Did not work out there and then was loaned all over the place before getting a short chance with Benfica. He was a late bloomer . Not flashy but solid
let’s wait and see if Canada makes it first. There are still plenty of games to go. As for Portugal, qualification seems like a formality now. we likely won’t be seeded. We need to hope the gods are on our side and grant us an easy group like we had in 2006 World Cup. it seems to be the only way we can have a decent tournament . Except for the 2002 debacle.
Not sure but I think there is still a chance Spain and Italy could still end up in the play offs and if we win our group there must be better chance for us to be seeded or iam i wrong fifa will still seed Italy and Spain?
Italy and Spain are two of the best teams right now so I doubt it. We were seeded in 2018 because Italy and Netherlands didn’t qualify. Fifa always finds ways to ensure we are not seeded.
If Canada had one more solid MF like Eustaquio then that would stabilize the midfield so much more. Atiba Hutchinson is a talisman when he can still play but man is old af. While other guys like Osorio or Anthony Kaye are still MLS players and lack that extra edge to put them into being ready for the biggest stage. Losing Fikayo Tomori to the English was a huge loss though. Canada needs a stud defender at the back, Vitoria is serviceable but not elite. While Ricardo Ferreira has finally declared for Canada, but his career has been ravaged by injuries and he doesn't even have a club right now.
Besiktas goal against Sporting was a clear foul. Not sure about the Porto one I will have to look again.
Ajax just steamrolled PSV Eindhoven 5-0 in the Dutch league. Plus 35 goal differential and top of the table obviously.
Ajax are historically a big club and a major player in Europe. It's just that in the recent decade or two that their influence contracted, and were known as more of a youth development conveyor belt. They've now been reinvesting their player sale revenues towards balancing out their squad with more veterans and are establishing themselves on the bigger stage again. I think their place in the Dutch Eredivisie will become what Bayern is to the Bundesliga and just be a one horse race domination.
