For the most part, I agree. However there were definitely a couple loose butthole moments -- Chris Richards gaffe made me miss watching the Black and Gold. That was an absolute slobber-knocker. If his sinuses were clogged this afternoon, they are clear now.
I thought we played better in the first half than the second. Created more chances and looked more in control. Got lucky on the no PK call and the slow ass Ruiz breakaway. Otherwise we looked comfortable. Musah is really valuable in the midfield as a player who can drive forward with the ball at his feet. He has some of those Nagbe qualities. McKinnie I thought was actually our worst player on the night. He had 6 turnovers with several of them in promising positions. The team has some of the same Crew problems in that the center forward is only getting 1 or 2 good looks a game which just isnt enough. End of the day its just about qualifying so take the points and move on.
At the end of the day, 3 points is 3 points so that's the biggest thing. With as young as our team is, its very promising for the future if they continue to develop and get chemistry together. We generally do well until we get to the box and then just fall apart but hope that will come. Grouchy!
I thought it would be easier vs a CR team which is old and playing their 3rd match in 7 days. But the 3 points is nice. No VAR since it's CONCACAF but I thought the CR goal had an offside player right in front of Steffen? Could barely see the field due to the folks right in front of me standing the whole match. So mostly watched on the scoreboard. Until in the 2nd half they started showing random crowdshots while play was underway! Do they think everyone is a narcissist who wants to see themselves on the big board? Several CR fans congratulated us on the win after the match so they seem better behaved than fans at other qualifiers.
I've only had a chance to watch it once, but I'm not so sure there wasn't an offside in the buildup to Dest's goal that wasn't called.
THAT is what I saw, and then forgot about after wondering about the guy in front of Steffen on the shot. I'm pretty sure it was really close.
Unfortunately it'll be a cold day in hell when CONCACAF plays qualifiers with VAR so we'll always have these little mysteries.
