LOL, the Dutch VAR Pol van Boekel pressures the referee (Dankert, Germany) for a penalty against Belgium.

While Van Boekel has worked many times in Belgium and for their league!

It's only the Nations League but surely they care for maybe the final opportunity the 'golden generation' has.

Mbappe scores the penalty and it's 2-2.

Did van Boekel come up through the Belgian league and then moved to the Eredivisie? He is one of the better UEFA certified VAR guys.

Wow, great finish. Belgium looked to have won the match but it was off sides and then France with a 90th minute goal!!!

So Spain defeated Italy and France came back to beat Belgium in a thriller to set up Spain - France final. After that melt down vs Switzerland, I'm surprised to see this France team able to come back vs Belgium after down 2 goals. Belgium again fell short and it looks like their window of winning title is slowly closing. I was cheering for them out of the final 4 in this Nations League. Oh well! Back to NT's pursuit of the first WC title then.
Is Bijlow, Drommel or Flekken good at PK (so perhaps Krul is no longer needed)?

Belgium have real issues with an aging back line. I wonder if Martinez will stay on as trainer or jump to Barcelona if they can figure out how to pay him.

Guys, look at where you are posting this. I already had to move two posts today that were not for the thread title. This should not be here

Serginho Dest had a golazzzzo against Costa Rica last night! I can't post a link as ESPN showed the game in the US and it probably won't work over in Europe. It was a wonderful strike with his left foot.

To me Alphonso Davies is the best LB atm. Checked out his goal last night

Would it not make more sense to convert him into a left-winger??

He plays for Bayern and they don't need a winger which is why he has not been tried out there.

  15. I wonder how fast he clocked on that burst. Usain Bolt-like.

Yes, in fact he was deployed as a winger in that Panama game. He was all over the place, his corner kick caused the 1st own goal, he scored the 2nd goal from the right wing, assisted the 4th goal with the cross from the left wing). He is the complete package, has a good long shot, good with passing (check out the extended highlights below to see). Barca followed Real galactico idea signing Neymar, Suarez and Bartomeu rejected this kid when Stoitchkov introduced him because he is Canadian. Bayern signed him and he blossomed in Bayern which in turn benefits Canada. Barca also missed bringing up or giving more playing times for their young players which lead to the team's downfall.

When playing vs USA he was deployed as LB.
For the first time, Canada can compete with US and Mexico and I hope Canada will qualify for the WC. It is very exciting to watch this young team although they will lack experience (as they have 4 draws so far where they could have won 2 of them).
I watched Dest' s goal. It is a cracker!

    • Germany, Denmark qualified. I think Netherlands, Belgium, England and France will qualify. Portugal and Serbia will have the showdown, same for Spain vs Sweden, Italy vs Switzerland, Russia vs Croatia. Losers will qualify via playoff.
    • Brazil and Argentina will qualify.
    • Iran, South Korea and Saudi Arabia will qualify.
    • I hope Canada will qualify with Mexico and USA.

Kind of neat seeing the talk about Davies. I’m Canadian and what he is doing for this team is insane. One of the best in the world on the left side.

Also I just was on a flight with him which was kind of neat

I watched URU-BRA game this morning. Total domination by Brazil. It couldve easily been 7-1 or 8-1. Brazil have to be early 2022 favourites now. Antony came on and played well also

They are always favourites. Neymar just spoils the soup tbh and the coaches wont bench him.

Big question for Brazil is whether their defense can hold up. They still have the postponed match against Argentina which may or may not be rescheduled as it might not be needed to determine WC qualification. That would provide a good test. Brazil were heavy favorites back in 2014 but lost in both the semifinals and third place match. IIRC, a certain team clad in orange won 3rd!;)

lots of different threads there and that's where you should be posting political stuff. I will delete all political stuff from this forum as they are not related to soccer.
