Surprised the ball didn't take a dip somewhere on that PK that ramped it over the bar or that there weren't seagulls getting in the way.
I think TKTs problem is all about his mental game, I mean he’s been one of the best players in the Portuguese league since he’s been there and he even won the best player of the league award and seeing other players leave to big teams for huge fees but he doesn’t, and then he could’ve left for a reduced fee this summer and still didn’t happen…
Not sure about that. I think Canada is better collectively than the US. US relies on not getting tired.
I dunno what y'all want the Salvadoran press to say or do in that instance lol. Lie down and take it??
The US is deeper and they aren't all that deep. Canada has some talent and speed but are fvcked if they lose Davies or David...
That was the plan but Vega's injury changed things. And although his crossing was off, I don't know why he's getting criticized as he was to me the better player along with Jimenez and Herrera to come on. He was better than Lozano tonight although Lozano had played too much in the prior games and as the starter, it wasn't surprising for him to trail off. Besides HH and Raul, stepping up a sub, the big surprise was Cata Dominugez moving in to stop the potential bleeding caused by Araujo's stupidity. Mexico wasn't the most lively game but they dominated completely and the key thing was how after Mexico went down to 10 players, El Salvador "boost" amounted to jack squat. Especially when the game was in Cuscatlan, the crowd was hostile and Ochoa didn't even have to make a save. A long way from that time in the Gold Cup when people were tripping themselves over the fact they hit the post and forced Talavera to make a save. If I criticize Martino and the players for failing to read Canada well and having such a worse performance than an already bad performance in the Gold Cup semifinal against them, today it was the total opposite.
I think Charly (who didn't do much while Vega was still on) & Tecatito connected well, while Pineda & Lozano didn't have that much chemistry together. It could be that Hirving was already tired as well.
Well, and that's exactly why Cuscatlán is a difficult venue but El Salvador is not a difficult opponent to back it off. San Pedro Sula is kind of the same, but Honduras is a decent NT so we struggle more there. San José, CR is not a difficult venue.
It was different for Costa Rica when they used to play at the old Saprissa stadium. That place felt like the people were on top of you
Plus the turf., and while the new Chinese Nacional Stadium has a track field IIRC, there were 4 games (all WC qualifiers) played at the Ricardo Saprissa: France 98 Q, 0-0; Korea&Japan Q, 0-0; Germany Q, 1-2; South Africa Q, 0-3. Mexico went undefeated at the Ricardo Saprissa. Ticos fans are just too nice to be a factor. No wonder one of the only victories they have over us in their own country was in the qualifier for Brazil, that 2014 was a good CR generation.
