September are you kidding me. We are talking about all of "the last days of Löw". You switched to this fallback position only after it was clear the team works much better without him. This post on 8th September came AFTER the first 2-3 games under Flick. As I was saying, "falsification of history"
COMMENT ON THE JOGI SUCCESSOR Flick delivered first Loud on the sidelines: new national coach Hansi Flick has brought a breath of fresh air to the national team 18: 1 goals, 5 wins under Hansi Flick. As the first nation to qualify ahead of schedule for the 2022 World Cup. We are therefore far from being the title favorites. But Flick managed to give players and fans a good national team feeling again in three months as a national coach. That's worth a lot. Development programs for Sané and Werner, a clear tactic geared towards dominance, explanatory calls to non-nominees such as Hummels or Boateng, careful installation of super talents such as Musiala, Wirtz or Adeyemi, stadium presence in the Bundesliga. These self-evident features are so positive because they have unfortunately been lost in the last Löw years. https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/...ick-hat-erst-mal-geliefert-77943224.bild.html
Nope I always favoured playing the Bayern 3 as a coherent unit. The point is Low decided to play 3-5-2 so that mean no Kimmich at 6 - and that is what all the conversations were about.
I thought he was better than Kehrer in the Romania game in the same position. I think he could be a decent alternative, but he's young yet. I doubt he will be a superstar in the position (like Lahm) but a good solid alternative that can work with wingers and deliver good crosses.
I was about to type something in defence of Low (I am a contrarian, so I look on the other side of arguments) but I couldn't. He was just a sad shadow of someone who may have been a great NT coach, but ultimately was out of his depth.
.I think it was Boris who pointed out that Loew was definitely going to go 3 at the back with kroos in the run up. So from the friendlies on, the only discussion was how to make the team work with kroos at 6 That was definitely not my preference but I kind of hoped it was a way to get everyone on the pitch.
I wish I could multi-rep this post, it pretty much summarizes my thoughts about Flick's management as well. In the previous 2 international breaks under Low, the German team got worse. Started out with decent performances, then ending with embarrassing results (6-0 against Spain, and 2-1 against N. Macedonia). This team seems to improved under Flick. For November, I don't see too much in experimental line-ups. There was still a lot of sloppiness in the play, and I don't know if Flick is convinced with what hi final line up will be. There seems to be a lot of integration work still required for some positions and fine-tuning of tactics. It must be depressing for our opposition to have played against Werner, Sane, Gnabry and Muller - then the "B" side comes on (Musiala, Wirtz, Adayemi, Havertz) and they are even more hungry and ruthless. And this is for @Ger90 : Our team is terrible, we have no talent, all the youth talent is garbage. (just kidding).
true that, our talents are pure trash, which insults trash. and according to dfb, small countries will catch up and potentially surpass us. our future is in San Marino, Kosovo, Lithuania, Northern Ireland etc level aka C-D level. can't wait to win WC with a trash squad of players!!! according to herr Bierhoff, doomsday for Germany should be from 2026 WC-onwards as no talents exists and all terrible one has to judge kids in U15-U17 level, LMAO.
Right so Germany was always very very fortunate to have good DM for the last few years , I think it started with Hamann in 2000. But here some of the names: Frings Hammann Kehl Rolfes Khedira Schweinsteiger Kroos Gundo Kimmich Gorestka So we are still good for another 4 years I would say , but we need some new names on that position, I see most DM did not start of as DM but rather grew into that role over time. If you see most of the above names did not always play DM . Quite funny though how number 10 used to be the most important man on the pitch- now it seems it the number 6
IIRC Helmut Rahn had a goal against French Saarland when he was 15 years and some months. The game wasn't counted in FIFA records because it was a friendly/ or Saarland fielded players from other parts of West Germany or something of the sort.
Not sold on him yet. Need to see him play against better sides in the trikot. I am however impressed by Kehrer.
Hope Kehrer plays a significant role at PSG this year. He also needs to get in the starting line up more often.... would be shame if not. He could really improve playing for a team like that .
https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/...-um-den-deutschen-fussball-77943906.bild.html Bild says the following: Where does Germanys stand after the WC qualification. So yes we have a great team with a great mix of experience (Reus, Muller and Neuer) - top class players (Sane, Gnabry, Werner, Gorestka and Kimmich) and the youth ( well we know all of the ones between 18 and 23). However: Still dont have a striker - Bayern and Dortmund still rely heavily on a Striker Still no LB/RB - only makeshift options We only played teams that ranked between 37 and 181 in the world. At least in 2022 March we will play some friendlies against higher teams and in June there is the UEFA nation league - so we will need to patient to see how good Germany really is .
Since 2006, Germany tended to play with a double pivot, which puts less pressure on needing a pure 6 who can do it all in a single pivot system. Peak Schweini could do the job, and now I think Kimmich as well. But overall, despite all the handwringing, Germany has had an endless procession of elite central midfielders. I mean gundo, who plays for one of the best teams in the world, can only make the bench in this side. Despite the retirement of Ozil, we see the renewal of Mueller as a hybrid AM, the emergence of Havertz, and then Wirtz I am really not worried about midfield!
On the striker thing, I continue to note how other teams have done very well, playing a non-elite 9 e.g. Italy and Spain Kind of like how germany looked good playing old man Klose or Gomez. IMO Flick should just be prepared to play someone who is not amazing but can do the job there.
I don’t know why Stindl is constantly overlooked. I hope that next month Flick calls up a different option at 9, just to see how the team looks with a more classic CF.
Very valid point - very agreed - I mean there are only a few outright top strikers in the world .... and very little teams can boast of having one .. (England, France, Belgium, Poland Norway, Senegal..etc....) But Germany has a non-elite striker - Werner ... anyway with the addons of Adeyemi and Nmecha this could be solved in the near future
I mean at this stage - might as well just go with Adeyemi where you want to play that way. Even play Havertz as a 9. Even if he is not amazing in the position, the point is to have someone to do that job, bringing others into the game. And actually, it's not clear where else Havertz fits right now. Werner I think doesn't help as a 9, because he doesn't do the stuff you need a 9 to do like holdup play.
LOOOOOL, as long as you ensure us with the talent coming through is credible, then that's definitely good enough for us, who the hell is Bierhoff!
Bierhoff is a populist with a total lack of self-criticism. Should be ignored. Takes to much energy listening to him.
Hummels must play alongside either Sule or Rudiger in the starting 11. Kehrer will be a good centre back cover. Ginter should only play RB.
Mhh Not sure if Hummels is required anymore - yes he can open up the game from the back , but should we really use a player that will be 34 come this worldcup....
He's still a quality defender but I agree with you, age wise he might start declining soon. We'll see how he fares with BVB this season.
Germany are planning two friendlies against England and South Africa in March as part of the preparation for the World Cup. The talks with the English FA are advanced [@SPORT1] pic.twitter.com/eT563snmCR— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) October 13, 2021
