richards has only looked shaky in his three sub appearances- extremely deferential and overly cautious to the point his passes werent even to his cb partner but back to steffen.

dont get me wrong- we all see him with his club, and that sort of play (to me)means get him a freaking start already (very preferably before a high stakes point such as this, but cest la vis). ill be pretty pissed if he doesnt get the start vs cr.

I hope Richards subs in today to ease him in for that final match, however. CR shouldn't have many chances, but all it takes is one screw-up.

Ideally the US takes a lead and then in the 2nd half plays a 352 counter w/ Chris on the outside.

I would like to start Aaronson all 3, but those at the presser said he was on shaky sticks while at the presser. So he may need a rest to be ready for CR.

I'd opt for Weah, and maybe Roldan. You try to partially duplicate what worked brilliant in the 2nd half @ Honduras, even if circumstances would be somewhat different.

Yes they are clearly the best referees in CONCACAF. Very professional.

Yeah. You can get a week trial, but the main gripe is the principle of it not being on a traditional sports channel I think.

then how is he even on the roster over players like miazga etc who never look shaky?....richards has always been composed whenever ive seen him play.

robinson is deserving of a starters role...but with rotation you rotate the middle gae not the last......

i only watched the second half vs jamaica and zimmeramn kicked the ball to anyone but his teammates from what i saw...richards would be an upgrade in distribution and there is no way he could do any worse than mckenzie did vs mexico...impossible.

the us has basically already qualified...this region is a joke....even with the poor management and slew of injuries stil in first place.....these matches a re fine for experimentation imo. in fact they are infinitely better than friendlies for experimentation, imo. they are "real"

people are just taking it way too cautious cuz of 2018 not bc of the reality this team is actually facing at the moment.

plus, this is a guy who is killing it a young age in the bundesliga with EPL interest...hes not a scrub and hes recently gotten better.

its not a risk at all to start him in this match.

this isnt to start an argument, but i dont assume we had two goals taken away, and once officiating- however inept- happens youve just have to move on. im not sure what the statute of limitations on "being robbed" is, but in this case it was the first goal. im just not interested in what ifs. i mean, what if zardes didnt trip over himself and got literally any touch at all on the ball weah put in? what does it matter now?

as for "credit" i dont know how you give that theoretically. how do you compare arob getting into ridiculous position with 3 guys in or crashing the box and somehow roll a pass behind or ahead of all three (pause) to arriola with a man on his back, 35 yards out, the other cb (not in great position) and gk in play?

ultimately theyre two plays that didnt come to anything. im just not sure how we are acting like arriola ruthlessly takes advantage there "if only", you know?

i agree they were both very good attacking plays, i would maybe quibble with the terminology. they werent completed plays. two good runs, passes and reception (in the former, at least). we had other good moments, almost chances but the incredibly disappointing play im talking about is that it way, way too rarely actually ends in a goal. crap last touches, the chance falling to sarge, whatever- our offense is pretty bad pretty consistently.

i dont think attributing atypical results to fairly routine "nice bits of play" because they were "taken away" is an especially compelling positive to take away.

our overall play in the second half- goals aside- is, though. we were making runs, those runs werent into each other, using space, etc.

thats the important takeaway to me. goals will come if we play well/the way we should.

sorry, thats just my unabridged thoughts on the reffing decisions. thats just not something i like to spend a lot of time dwelling on or talking about.

I used to play on a team where we practiced on a turf field where every bounce and roll was perfect.. Then our matches were often on some incredibly poor pitches where passes on the ground and dribbling were exercises in frustration along with ankle breaking possibilities. I called our turf field practices “anti practice” as it had nothing to do with game conditions. Interestingly, I thought the team that handled the poor conditions best was one made up of Jamaican and a scattering of other Carribean players. They played just about everything in the air whether short or long passes. They were obviously used to crap pitches.

I think everyone wants to be mad at Weston for the last window but he actually played a great game.

can you simply not refrain from arguing? do you have some sort of message board tourettes?

hes on the roster because hes an incredibly talented player. hes looked shaky in his nt caps (i assume) due to being a 20 year old (at the time so you dont have to reply that hes 21) coming into games we were leading in and didnt want to screw up. hence my thinking him getting a start before now would have been a good idea.

Yup. And free on Spanish language.

I guess I’m the only one here that remembers paying $20 covers at random closed circuit tv locations to watch away qualifiers.

We are pretty lucky these days overall.

I didn't say he played bad. He battled for one, and covered distance defensively. But he didn't provide what the team needed often times, like creativity out of a 10/8, and he stopped switches of the point of attack.

Those measures would look at him in isolation, not context. So would the metrics, and they even gave him grade relative to teammates, fwiw.

The media had him w/ one of the lowest grades on the team too. You think they were all holding last week against him too?

Seems like BHarreld is the Minority Report.

Yes, I remember watching at GMU and also, in the days of Jack and Ty I used to watch home games in Spanish anyway. The timing works for me because I cut all my TV services after recent cost increases. I'm subscribing to three streaming services (mainly for LIverpool) so it's the home qualifiers where I have to get creative.

Hopefully everyone who wants to is able to watch tonight's match.

im tired of certain players becoming entrenched when they dont deserve it

i want to see more fringe players tested

for me this is a perfect chance

if the field is a mud bowl then whatever

but i dont see it so clear as day as you seem to that playing richards is a crazy idea....it would be totally fine

i mean bello can play but richards cant???

    i really dont get it

Unvierso isn't free where I live. Requires spanish language package.

Can Unvierso be streamed for free?

I like what HalfSpaces does. Bringing some quantitative analysis is a good thing, although I think there are a few things he really needs to factor in. And I thought McKinnie was better than most observers said.

But the was not Man of the Match. Adams had a bigger positive influence over the game.

I thought McKennie was one of our better players. The whole team played well, so it was a bit hard to stand out.

Berhalter gave the game ball to Zimmerman. Hard to argue against that.

Otoh the MMA midfield made it an easy evening for the defense.
