I am honestly pleased that we didn't lose as a draw is good over there but man did we play badly.

I am just happy we got the point. It looked like we were going to lose big time in this one after the first 23 minutes or so,

Duvan still is on such a cold streak though. Hope he snaps out of it against Brasil.

tf is wrong with duvan. Terrible, should have been 3 pts. At this point I prefer rodallega to take his place and that says a lot.

Thanks Ospina for keeping us in the game.
Yerry and Cuesta had a decent game. Mojica played well for the most part. Barrios had to multiply himself to cover the right flank. Diaz was on and off but dangerous at times.

Cuadrado was annoyingly useless and so was Medina. Uribe was two steps behind. Borre and Falcao were invisible.

Roger and Lerma provided fresh legs and more ball control. Quintero almost changed the game in one play.

    Duvan WTF?

    I agree with dapip.

Sucks that we have to care about all the other results before we can appreciate any of our own results.

1 point is better than 0

If we can get a draw on Sunday, I’ll be super pleased

Ecuador - we need to get back 3 points next week.

That was way too stressful. Given how we played the point is good - but Duvan blew the chance for the win.

Ospina - 7 - MOTM - Several great saves, was calm when we were under water.

Mojica - 6 - Considering the opposition was solid!

Mina - 6 - Thought he was great. Handled being the foil in a hostile arena, won everything up top.

Cuesta - 7 - He's won the starting spot. So calm and maybe the only guy with any clarity in his passing to start the game.

    Medina - 5 - Never looked comfortable.

C4 - 3 - The bad C4. Maybe the worst I can ever remember him playing. Last time looked great when he had the poops awful today when seemingly healthy, who understands these things?

Uribe - 3 - CHAOS! Needed someone to step on the ball, he just couldn't control the adrenaline.

Barrios - 6 - Was everywhere. Thank goodness he is one of ours.

Diaz - 6 - Provided the few seconds of possession in first half. Just too isolated. Should have won the game with a great run and pass that Duvan ate.

    Falcao - 4 - Ineffective. Couldn't get involved.

Borre - 4 - Struggled to control the ball at feet.

Duvan - 3 - You. Can't. Miss. That. Just too cute, smash that.

Roger - 4 - Gave a decent outlet for a few release balls.

Quintero - 5 - Came on too late to impact but we badly missed a 10 all game.

    Ref - 10 - Love that guy.

Rueda - 5 - Seemed to scheme tactically to press them, but they just got run over instead. Better second half but brought on Quintero too late.

I think the ref realized Uruguay was full on Hollywood. They tried hard to get foul calls all over the place. Maybe the ref over-corrected a little bit once he realized what they were up to.

It was wild how much they were diving. Suarez went full Rivaldo vs. turkey for that free kick in the first half.

I missed the second half to play a soccer game but god damn so happy we got a point, that first half was just depressing. Was the second half better at least? IDK what Rueda is thinking sometimes with some of these lineups and subs, and why tf don't you call Muriel if Borja is hurt? We can't keep running out a midfield that's only way to progress the ball is Cuadrado dribbling non stop.

You know I honestly have felt a Jackson Martinez vibe from Zapata considering how well he plays for his club but struggles mentally for the national team; like I don't think I can have the patience for players who can't perform in such matters when a golden chance like that comes.

Yes. We actually took possession a bit in the second half because Tabarez lost Suarez to injury and I really do think the goal VAR took from them woke us a bit.

We played more composed but just struggled with the final ball with the exception of a terrific play where Lucho beat there whole left side of the defense to leave Duvan alone to push the ball into the net...only instead he got cute and tried to push it behind Muslera against momentum - but instead he just kicked it into the guy. Total overthinking moment on something he just crushes into back of goal.

Rueda needs to work on finishing with everyone and the mental side of the game. He is going to need Duvan and Borré down the line if we are going to classify and has to get his strikers out of the funk.

Honestly I’m happy, why? Because I do not have expectations anymore. This team has hurt me too much since I started watching them, too many heartbreaks and what-ifs, soy contento.

In the replay, you could see that Suarez pushed Barrios first, then threw himself at Yerry when the ball was already lost. I kind of agree with you, the Charruas tried so hard to get fouls and cards, that the refs opted for not calling a ton of contact and that played in our favor. In a way, Uruguay and Colombia are not so different, in the sense that they both have struggled to figure out how to play with the current group of players, so they know their margins are thin, and they are becoming anxious about getting results, much more when they could perfectly come out with zero points from their next two games.

Rueda has to give everyone two cups of coffee before we start playing. It is amazing how passive the team looks during the first 20 minutes or so of every fvcking game. Against Argentina it costed us dearly (although we got a lucky draw at the end), and yesterday, that offside goal could have opened the floodgates for Uruguay. Oh and Fvcking Medina stumbled again on the field, allowing Suarez to have another clear chance. I want a RB that at least can stay on his feet.

one thing i don't get is why does everyone play with their back against the goal. are we afraid to pass the ball into space or make a run?

As much as I am a fanboy of Uribe, i would like to see someone else get a start in his role. our players are good, but i can't understand why we can't string 2 or 3 consecutive forward moving passes.

We are close to transitioning from "give the ball the cuadrado and hope for magic" to "give the ball for Lucho and hope for magic"

short quick passes into space and making runs should not be that difficult to do whether you're playing "away" or "home"

It was also annoying as hell that in the first half all of the plays kept going through the right side with Medina and Cuadrado. Diaz was completely ignored in the first half while being our most dangerous attacker. I think he was invisible more due to being ignored for whatever reason. It’s like even our players think Cuadrado has to be our playmaker.

We play like a Sunday pick up team. Like a bunch of guys who never played together.

It’s sad. I really would love to know what tactics, if any, are discussed behind the scenes
