Couple sloppy moments this half too. Super frustrating to watch. The non-shot and the bad left footed switch… C’mon Wes!
Suarez talked this week about how Athletico Madrid believe "until the end" they could pull these types of games out. They accept they must suffer before that opportunity presents itself. Chelsea has a similar game today- they hang in there, even if not playing their best. They maintain their belief in a late result. This is what elite teams do- score the late goal in games like this, even when they don't deserve it. Sir Alec was great at that. Let's see if Allegri can get Juventus getting back to elite. I don't think the gap between top 4 and the next 5-6 clubs is always that great. It is moments like this that create the gap.
Big win if they can hold it. Huge boost to table and confidence. Wes can share in that, and hopefully creates a boost for him as well.
This game was a sloppy dog fight. Glad Locatelli snatched it for Juventus. Very dissatisfied with Wes not taking his chances to take over the game. When I see Allegri and McKennie interact, they seem to be on the same page and have an understanding. That’s good enough for me to ignore rumors. Can’t wait for this bad run of form to stop. Optimistic that the excellent positions he was finding will eventually also have the execution needed to stay at Juve.
The whole team was sloppy. It was not just McKennie. Although, he had some pretty bad moments that won’t win over the fans.
He was sloppy as all hell and seemed to lack confidence with the ball, but he put in lot of dirty work and his discipline and positioning was good, which is probably he was kept in the whole game. Contributed to the result have even if wasn't anywhere never his best performance.
Noticed similar outcomes. Getting in decent positions at times but not really understanding the space behind him and some loose touches/passes. good in the press and winning the ball back.
Wes forced a nice save from the Zenit keeper after Morata played him in. He made a crafty, patient run to stay onside for the pass and hit it pretty well.
So if I'm going to dog on him when he plays poor, I need to compliment when he does well. Much better 2nd half offensively and defensively.
Nice job retaining possession and switching the field there, under pressure. Chiesa's cross deflected for a corner.
he does make stuff happen. when you gotta score goals to win, you want people that make stuff happen.
