Portugal win on pks Congrats to Portugal for making the final, albeit not very convincingly. Tough luck Kazakhstan.
Good. A final with Kazakhstan would have been too easy for us (why would we lose to Brazil B after beating Brazil A?). Argentina v Portugal now is a joy and next year in Qatar too please
You know I actually had a ticket and wound up going to the World Cup quarterfinal which was France vs Uruguay in Niznhi Novgorod in Russia in 2018. But had the round of 16 results turned out differently, that game could have been Argentina vs Portugal. I was so hoping that would be the case, but alas didn't turn out that way. I wonder if they could somehow get Messi and Ronaldo to leave their club / national team duties and join the Futsal teams for the final on Sunday - that could be the ultimate showdown to find out who is the true GOAT Honestly I think Argentina will have to be seen as favorites for this one. Defending champs, an extra day rest, and a Portuguese team that just played 3 successive extra time + penalty matches. They looked like they were on their last legs in this game. But you never know, we'll see Sunday....
They would be clear favorites IMO, much more so than if this was football and they were meeting in Qatar
So is this an omen then.. Kazakhstan to go on a late rally, qualify for Qatar 2022 and then go all the way to the semifinals?
Tbh before the tournament I'd have said Portugal were clear favorites to win the title (being european champions and having the strongest club right now). But they have been unconvincing ever since group stage. Their resilience is incredible though and it will test Argentina if the match remains close or tied in the final minutes.
Hello, just wanted to tell you guys, please don't post untrue statements - Arnold Knaub is not naturalized foreigner, he was born and raised in Kazakhstan. ...Regarding yesterday's match the referees favored Portugal ( I'm not taking about canceled 1st goal but about fauls) for sure (for sure fifa preffers commercially more valuable portugal than underdog Kazakhstan)
I wasn't sure about Arnold Knaub, but his name didn't sound Kazakh (nor his appearance), which is why I put a qualifier ("apparently naturalized"). In any case, what is indisputable is the fact that you had 3 naturalized Brazilians, each of whom is rated pretty highly.
I can't deny that, however it this golabalized world there are few pure national teams left (e.g. Iran, Brasil) - all the reast already fueled by foreigners from their former colonies or From second generation illegal immigrants....
"Pure" national teams are vast majority in this tournament. The ones that used naturalized players are few: Kazakhstan, Russia, Japan, USA. That's it.
I will stick to my opinion: there are countries which robbed and tortured for centuries by other countries who became richer with good infrastructure. And due to poverty and climate change people from poor regions are ready to risk their lives to get and settle in these countries. Its one of the reason why rich countries become richer, while poor countries become poorer. ...for me there is no difference between Portugal and Kazakh team: for Portugal African people made a difference (their parents arrived illegally or got asylum doesn't matter) while at a time, e.g., Hugita was young promising (yet no-name) player who came to Kazakhstan and grown into the 4 or 5-time world best goalee by playing in kazakh club for many years and took its citizenship legally....I don't see the point to continue this discussion: bottom line is developed nations benefitting and will do so ever from immigration in all aspects of our life (not only futsal but science, culture etc)..and you have to accept it and avoid double standards.
Brazil take 3rd with a 4-2 win over Kazakhstan. Portugal 2-1 up vs Argentina, just 8 minutes from their first championship...
congratulations to Portugal for beating Argentina 2:1 in the final. I didn't expect Portugal to win but they have now become only the 4th team besides Brazil, Spain and Argentina to lift this trophy.
Well played Champions well deserved and the fans deserved this win as well. Argentina did not Ofer anything until Portugal went 2-0 up
And so happy for Ricardinho finally get his hands on the trophy at the end of his career get in champion
Congrats Portugal. My 3 cents: 1) Borruto screwed up the whole match in just one play. Dumb red card in a meaningless play and Portugal scored in the power play, making it an uphill battle for the rest of the match. 2) Argentina got nervous and fell into the portuguese spider web making them waste time and energy in meaningless protests and such. The final push was good though but too late. 3) I still don't get how Argentina wasn't given a penalty in that VAR revision. The arm of the portuguese player blocks the shot BEFORE it touches the ground to support his body (which would allow the portuguese to avoid the handball call).
Portugal has won Beach Soccer and Futsal World Cups. Only missing piece is the real World Cup. Let's see how long it takes for them to win that too.
