Nine of the 12 clubs who attempted to join a breakaway Super League - including the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ - have agreed to sacrifice five per cent of their European competition revenue and make a £13m aggregate donation to Uefa as part of a reconciliation agreement with the governing body.
please don't post articles from the S*n here, BrilliantDutch. due to their years of repeated lies related to Hillsborough they are hated in Liverpool and LFC fans will have nothing to do with them at all.
hah - thanks@!! Fans need to keep opposing this cr@p. If others want to watch no worries American Football, then watch that .... is my stance on this rubbish....
No wonder they wanted a Super League: Elite comp's proponents Barcelona, Atletico and Juventus can't even get to the Champions League last-16... it's more embarrassment for three clubs going backwards on-and-off the pitch. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ight-embarrassment-European-Super-League.html
Barcelona and Juventus, less so Atlético, have been recklessly spending over the last few years so are up the creek without a paddle. The former even attempted some financial gymnastics, mortgaging future earnings to fund a recurrent spree.
hasn't worked. surely they have no more financial tricks to play? some kind of ESL may well be their only hope of continuing to dine at the big table.
Mind you, the way we’re playing this season, looks like we’d be better off playing in Europe and not the PL.
Why should any of them be any different to Leeds or Rangers - or what almost happened to Chelsea? barca will likely sell themselves to China as the next big fix
Well, it looks as if UEFA and FIFA need to clean up their house, after all. Not necessarily celebration time in Madrid (they should sort out la Liga, if you ask me) but those corruptos in Nyon and Zurich need to have long look. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67783970
I wonder if the Neanderthal uk football commentators/pundits/fans will finally realize that the ESL was always a replacement for the CL - not the PL. even a couple of weeks ago Gary Neville was banging on about the ESL teams having the nerve to try to kill the PL. gang of morons.
Some time ago, I posted about a mate of mine meeting Cody Gakpo on a flight to Amsterdam. Gakpo had said that sooner or later, Saudi clubs would be allowed into the CL. Sounded ridiculous, but plausible, if you follow me. In a roundabout way, that’s what this ruling is. It’s a way to have a World CL. It used to be that it took half a day or more to fly from say, London to Istanbul. These days those distances are being seen as easy and are done regularly throughout the season. In its equivalent of the CL, European club rugby already has S African sides playing home and away; Argentina play NZ and Australia every season. Now I know S African football sides would add nothing to a world CL, but S American sides would. World CL, it’s coming.
every time anyone in FIFA opens their flap the words "global expansion" drop out - eg Wenger the other day re the Club WC expansion. the potential for even more fat-envelope backhanders makes them quite giddy.
Naaaaw. I’m barred from the Netherlands and all its overseas territories. Something about not leaving enough beer for natives.
