Kane and Hojbjerg were just awful. The other Tottenham players tried, but those two were phoning it in early in the game. Arsenal to their credit played really well. For the first 45 minutes, they were playing the best football I'd seen them play since Arteta took over. When I saw them against Norwich, I thought our own Brandon Williams was the best performer on the pitch. Chelsea couldn't live with City. It was very one-sided. The problem was Chelsea's setup with the 3-5-2. City don't play with any center-forwards and Chelsea were going overkill with those three center-backs who had no idea who to mark. The three became a five pinned at the back and from there on end it was almost all one way traffic. City were all over.
Great thread and detailed analysis as always; #Juventus 2020/21 accounts cover a COVID impacted season when they finished 4th in Serie A, won the Coppa Italia and were eliminated in the Champions League last 16. Head coach Andrea Pirlo was replaced by Massimiliano Allegri after the season ended. Some thoughts follow.— Swiss Ramble (@SwissRamble) September 27, 2021
After Neymar provided the assist for Julian Draxler’s goal to seal the 2-0 victory over Montpellier, Kylian Mbappé was spotted complaining to Idrissa Gana Gueye that Neymar doesn’t pass him the ball when it’s him in that position.Trouble in paradise. pic.twitter.com/8csdjSfu3z— Zach Lowy (@ZachLowy) September 25, 2021 Used to love this guy when he first burst on the scene as he seemed like a genuine breath of fresh air. As feared though, when he joined PSG, he's learned the things he shouldn't have (ie acting like a diva). And with the latest reports suggesting that City (per Sheik Mansoor) are ready to throw the kitchen sink to beat Real to his signature, that surely will do nothing to keep his feet on the ground...
European Super League: UEFA dropping legal action against Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus | Football News | Sky Sports Perez and his band of renegades might not have gotten what they ultimately wanted, but they didn't lose either. Can definitely be argued that this is a pretty big win for them. And is a serious worry when thinking about the future.
It does strike me that PSG have too much of a good thing. Mbappe would do well avoid the pitfalls Anelka got himself into. I think the ESL will eventually come back in some form or another, but I think we might even see an EPL/MLS competition in the future too, more than just an all-star game.
Gueye might be 32 but I'd have him at United in an instant. Goal aside, he's putting in a very good, workmanlike display so far for PSG.
Crazy result for sure but let's see if they can hang on for another 45: long way to go yet in this one. Where's the difference in both challenges? Guess that Gueye not flopping around like a fish out of water the way the YB player did that day, must have been the difference...
VAR having a bad night: KdB - Gueye incident, Kessie's 2nd yellow, clear pk call for Real (for a foul on Vini) all missed... And another (even more obvious) foul on Vini and this time it is given. And Benz makes no mistake to bring Real level. Credit to Sheriff though: they're trying their best to play and are not just bunkering down in this one...
Sheriff almost had a second. Very unfortunate offside because the scorer was only just ahead of the ball when it was played to him.
Messi finally nets his first for PSG to double their lead. Typical Leo finish. As stated, Sheriff, to their extraordinary credit have kept on playing after Real got the equalizer. And they've got their just reward in the end, scoring what looks to be the winner vs Real at the Bernabeu!!! Game over: 1-2. What a result for Sheriff.
Top of the group too with 6 points. They looked very calm and composed at the back and on the ball. I liked the way they got it done.
A blessing of sorts for Arsenal? A Partey - Lokonga partnership in midfield could be very, very interesting for Arse (would have either player at United without hesitation).
Very happy to see Richards and Hoppe make the cut (and Musah/Weah back from injury). Zardes will be a good alternative to Pepi also. Pulisic and Reyna are big misses but no excuses allowed: 7pts minimum is really what they should be aiming for in this round.
