Seems like he would be a valuable call-up to the Gold Cup, at the very least.

If he's really in Pep's plans for City next season, I think that would boost him up to a Nations League call-up with the true first team. Even to be in consideration for that City side is a huge compliment.

Someone should ask the national team setup if they're keeping tabs on this guy. Seems like a much more promising player than Pierie.

If he's with City in preseason, Steffen could do some recruiting. Dutch are strongest at CB so there could be an angle for us to pursue.

Dude hasn't been on the field for almost two years now, he's lost a lot of time, he needs to get some game time before we start talking national team

We don't necessarily need to call him up ASAP (although I wouldn't mind), but if there's even a slight chance he's going to be a contributor at the EPL level, whether it's for City or another suitor like Palace, it would be much better for the USMNT if they made contact before that breakthrough happened. He does have 30 games for PEC Zwolle and 9 for Anderlecht, fwiw.

Time for EPB to convince him to play for the US

Maybe a little tougher since they are fighting for the same spots.

Looks like they’ve been playing back three. None of their current CBs are so impressive that they Sandler snd EPB can’t both win spots.

I was talking more about the NT competition. Less likely if EPB sees Sandler as competition for a USMNT CB slot.

That's a bullish enough assessment to make the Yanks Abroad board proud! I've only seen him play a few times, but I've never thought to myself he was close to breaking through with the Dutch and surpassing Ake, much less de Ligt and Virgil. But if he's going to get a bunch of the starts for Troyes, I guess we'll all find out together.

And potentially gnash our teeth that EPB isn't in the squad.

Yeah, "starts for Troyes" isn't enough to make our team, much less theirs.

Watched him once at Anderlecht, looked pretty good, pretty classy on the ball. Haven't seen him yet in France, but thought Anderlecht thought higher of him than Miazga. If he gets a run of starts and plays well, who knows. Starting and playing well consistently in a top five league at least puts you somewhat on the radar. He might not be interested anyway though, but honestly he'd be much less of a surprise than Musah commiting.

I don't know, "off the bench for Montpellier" or "starts for Young Boys" hasn't held some players back. Even "off the bench for the Colorado Rapids" doesn't rule you out. It depends on whether he can do something that the coach wants. We should be comforted that national team scouting doesn't just involve looking at the league table.

Feyenoord 'Looking' to Sign Manchester City Defender on Loan - Club 'Hoping' to Complete Deal Before January Deadline
Feyenoord are eyeing a loan swoop for Manchester City and Netherlands defender Philippe Sandler as an emergency defensive signing, according to a report from Holland.
    Srinivas Sadhanand 4 hours ago
Ever since Philippe Sandler joined Manchester City from PEC Zwolle, he was billed to be the next big thing.

A youth graduate from Ajax’s fabled academy, the youngster’s fantastic footballing education was expected to bear fruit under Pep Guardiola, who has openly declared Dutch legend Johan Cruyff as his role model on several occasions.

However, making only a single appearance for the Sky Blues since his arrival, and experiencing failed loan spells at Anderlecht and Troyes - the 24-year old’s career has stagnated over the past few years.

With that being said, it is essential for the talented defender to get some playing time under his belt in order to reignite his progression.

According to a report by Voetbal International, as translated and relayed by Football Oranje, Feyenoord are understood to be ‘looking’ to sign Phillippe Sandler on loan.
The Dutch giants are said to be ‘hoping’ that they can complete a deal for the Manchester City man before deadline day on Monday.

Further details suggest that Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has been in dire need of a defender and the potential signing of the highly-rated talent could ease his problems at the back, with deals for other transfer targets being ‘ruled out’.

Sandler’s versatility as a youngster is what set him apart from the rest, comfortable being deployed as both a centre-back as well as a defensive midfielder.

However, the Premier League champions have no cause for concern in both roles, with their defensive record being the best in England and Rodri emerging as the most in-form holding midfielder in Europe this season.
