I know we have talked about Patino on the English opportunity thread but this link is relevant here. https://cadenaser.com/programa/2021/09/19/carrusel_deportivo/1632072832_092938.html I guess it’s nothing really surprising but Spain are wanting Patino to play for them instead of the Country of his birth. To be honest, for some reason and I’ve nothing to base this on other than my gut feeling but it wouldn’t surprise me if we lost him. I guess you could just say I lack faith with our FA. I hope I’m very wrong off course but like I said, it’s a gut feeling.
The danger is with Patino is that he's very connected to his Spanish heritage when it comes to football. He said that he's very inspired by the Spanish style and his favourite players are all Spanish, except for Saka who he says he looks up to as well. It could happen I guess but I think it's up to England to convince him that we're the better bet at the moment and that there's a real pathway for him at the moment.
Arsenal's Mika Biereth has been called up to Denmark's U19 squad for the Euro Qualifiers. Scored a hat-trick the other day against Chelsea's 23s. I had been wondering for a while what the origin of his name was.
I was thinking he might have been in contention for an England call up to be honest but obviously not. I know he’s born and raised in England fwiw but I guess that’s another one gone, oh well!
We are being pilfered left right and centre. Surely there has to be rules put into place to stop a nation from having all its youngsters snapped up
Believe it or not, it isn't just us. If you look at the Irish setup, for the first time ever, they are having their players poached by other countries. If we're actually in a situation where Irish born players are being poached by other nations, then it just goes to show how diverse the world is becoming. It's happening alot with the Irish at the moment. Mind you, you reap what you sowe in regards to them.
When you can go back to Grandparents a huge amount of people will have at least one other nationality in this country, would be less with a Team GB rather than England, Scotland, Wales and NI but still so many people with at least 1 immigrant Grandparent out of 4
It's part of getting youth development right (finally) that there is so much more quality produced but squads don't get bigger - been happening to France for years, should take it a sa compliment and work our nuts off to retain the best boys
I’m more eager for rules to be put in place to prevent advanced adolescent boys taking the opportunities from and breaking the legs of prepubescent/early adolescent boys because they’re being played together on the basis of being born in the same year. But hey ho, a few years physically bullying slight-framed white boys before realising you can’t do it anymore against adults then disappearing to somewhere in africa or wherever seems to be one of the favourite developmental pathways of the enlightened footballing authorities
Oh sorry, my mistake. I of course just forgot to realise we were being “pilfered left right and centre” by just the Spanish. All these bloody kids with Spanish surnames dominating our academies with their silky tiki taka nonsense only to be lured away in the end. Oh wait, is it other Europeans too? Like Charlie Thorhammerson? Silly me, I don’t know where i got the idea the vast majority of the duel nationality kids come from somewhere else
Your post fairly obviously suggested that players were disappearing to Africa entirely, not remaining in English football and occasionally turning out for African national teams.
Am I the only one who is just confused by this whole Conversation now? I've come to discuss duals and this has turned into something else.
Clearly the English football system has developed more players for mostly African national teams than it has produced black English national team players, apparently a forbidden subject in a thread about duel nationality. And like I indicated in my first post, I wouldn’t be interested in this if they hadn’t changed the playing field for the physical demands placed on 11/12/13/14/15 year olds in the process, who at this point I’d rather be separated by size and weight than by year group . Pretend this isn’t completely insane, i find the delusional ignorance some combo of hilarious and sad
Lol and apparently, it's still going on ^^^. I'm still no closer to understanding what they're on about but we shall leave them to it.
The irony of you and Roverman complaining about people misusing the forum. You hardly ever have anything informative to say and instead tell us for the umpteenth time how you can’t understand why anyone would want to play for ‘X shitty country’ or how ‘vulture like X country’ is.
It's called a bit of light hearted joking. I get that you probably don't know what that is since you are always moaning about someone else's views on this forum. I bet you're a right laugh at all the family parties.....
The point that I’m guessing Calculator is trying to make is that the English system leans more towards athletes at the expense of players like Patino. This goes a little way to explaining how the demographics of our U19 team are completely out of whack with the general population.
Why didn't he say that instead of making an incoherent post. I guess your response will be 'well maybe if u had intelligence u would have understood it'
