Probably AC Milan cause they’ve been linked to him in stories. It’s two UCL clubs in German(so Dortmund, Leipzig, or Wolfsburg) and two in Italy (Inter, Juventus, or Atalanta). Guessing it’s not Juventus because they have a ton of financial issues. Inter does too but they did sell a bunch of players. No clarity on who the two English teams are.
This makes ZERO sense. Why would you NOT call him up??? He's starting and playing very well for a team in a top 4 league. It's World Cup Qualifying FFS!!!! You call in your in form players.
It's a perfectly rationale position even if you don't agree with it. He isn't needed in the USMNT right now. There are plenty of adequate RBs to navigate WCQing who are older, more experienced and competent enough to get the results required. Things are going great for him at BMG right now. I don't want to rock that boat. If he goes away to WCQing, he will miss two weeks of training with BMG, fly all over the world and almost assuredly will give someone else a chance in his starting spot the first game after the international break. And for what benefit? Likely to sit on the bench behind Dest/Yedlin. There's little to no benefit to that for me.18 y/o's starting spots in teams are usually very tenuous. Better to stay at BMG and let him solidify himself in the team. His time will come soon enough and if we really needed him I'd say bring him but I don't think we do.
For the past few hours I have been watching parts of several games, just delighting in the number of Americans playing meaningful matches, played decent to very well and it beginning to seem almost normal. We tend to hang on individual matches when it comes to poor performance. I'm critical of that and so I don't want to make the same mistake on good days, but there is a discernibly positive trend when it comes to career development for so many of our young players. Still..... Nobody's mentioned Yunus Musah on here, but I thought he played with a lot more vigor today. He was too often isolated out on the wing for a Valencia team that seems to have real issues with their players being connected. Still, I saw some good moments from him and am hoping he will be part of this next MNT group. I also haven't seen McKennie mentioned. He's getting panned in some circles (and definitely seems to have become a target of haters for some reason - beyond even the moral outrage that some self-righteously feel the need to express over his indiscretions last time around) but I'm glad to see him getting the start and I thought he was decent in midfield. Missed a couple of good scoring chances but there were some good signs. I'm betting on him to continue as one of our more influential players going forward. In short, you have to work pretty hard not to feel some real optimism about this project going forward.
Not arguing either way about calling him up, but you'll find most top 5 league teams will give their non-international first team players several days off during the international break.
I think Scally would be a good call as a fifth CB. We don't have a ton of depth on the left, especially with Vines hurt. He's not been in a camp; let's bring him in, let him play with others. If he pops, play him. If he doesn't, he's better prepared for next time. If he can swing between both sides, there's a ton of value to that, and I'd like to get him dipped into the team sooner or later. If Robinson were to go down, we'd be in real trouble right now.
McKennie went 90. Top news. Given Gladbach's injury situation at fullback, calling in Scally should be ok with respect to his playing time.
Tessmann had much less experience in MLS than Busio. By quite a bit actually. Its not surprising that he might take a little longer to break thru. Not much has leaked on this yet. This report says Italy, Germany, and England. We've known about significant interest in Italy for Pepi (with McKennie, Reynolds, and Tessmann already there). But I think some of those clubs are going to be priced out of the competition (Bologna, etc.) If the pricetag is MORE than Alphonso Davies (which wouldn't be surprising), then the number of clubs seriously in the running starts narrowing down considerably. This is what happened with Reynolds. All sorts of clubs were mentioned, but once the BIG clubs starting submitting bids.............the contenders starting narrowing down considerably. And we have to start wondering if FCD's partner, Bayern Munich, will let the player go to one of their rivals. Why have the partnership if they don't get access to players like Pepi? Do we think Bayern will let him to go to Dortmund? Really? It funny. FCD keeps selling, selling, selling. If Pepi and Che are both gone (with Sealy also now at PSV), then the homegrown stable next season is much less interesting there. Everybody is sold. They're gonna have to sign some more foreign players by default. Ferreira, Pomykal, and Servania will still be there. Maybe Collin Smith or Beni Redzic will break thru, but those guys are deemed a step below. They supposedly have a great generation of 15/16 year olds, but the cupboard of 18 year olds is pretty bare if they sell Pepi, Che, and Sealy. I do think they sign a bunch of these 15/16 year olds to homegrown contracts in the off-season. They have their developmental roster slots opened back up again.
Not to say they won’t buy him, but Bayern does basically poach whoever they want whenever they want from the rest of the Bundesliga. So they may be fine with him going to a Dortmund or a Leipzig with the idea that they can just get him in a couple of years when he’s ready for them developmental wise.
Sure...............................if they want to pay 40 million a few years from now. Or they can get him for 10 million now (with future considerations). If there isn't room in their first team for him, or they think he's not ready, then they can loan him out to said "rest of Bundesliga." FCD and Bayern are partners. What's the point of the partnership from a Bayern perspective if not this? Now its very possible that Bayern likes Pepi, but doesn't view him as a future Bayern player. They apparently passed on Bryan Reynolds, for instance. Bryan had been over to train/trial at Bayern five different times. Meanwhile Juve and Roma (amongst others) were battling it out for him. You can be an international caliber player, and still not be deemed good enough for Bayern. Chris Richards, for instance. But Bayern is going to sell Richards and make a hefty profit (part of which goes to FCD, of course). They can do that with Pepi too if they choose. Saying that, I've heard nothing vis-a-vi Pepi and Bayern.

The Yedlin penalty from yesterday is at about 5:45 in this highlight package. What possessed him to have his arm raised like that there???
Didn't we just play our best CM at RWB because we ran out of RBs? Scally might be the #2 option at LB too. He needs to be called and needs to be integrated. If Antonee is injured in any of these windows, we really rolling with Dest on the left or "I don't defend on the weakside" Bello?
Not that I know of. Bayern does apparently have some sort of "right of first refusal" on FCD youngsters, but we don't know how that works exactly. Bayern seemed to want Che in the most recent summer window, and the two clubs didn't work out a transfer. So FCD clearly doesn't just roll over and let Bayern do what they want.
A lot of players in Germany (especially German) sign with a Bundesliga team and then hope Bayern wants them. If they do they play out their contract and go on a free. Plenty of players have moved from Dortmund to Bayern (and back).
At the Galaxy? That was when the the now-disgraced Brian Kleiban was running the academy. Apparently, Hoppe was a central midfielder in the Galaxy academy. He was only there for one season. He then went to Irvine Strikers, and after that went to Barca AZ at ~16. It was Barca AZ that converted him to a #9, and he just WENT OFF in terms of goalscoring at the DA level. In the summer of 2019, Hoppe went to Germany for a couple of trials. Schalke wouldn’t let him leave until he’d signed an academy contract. Worth noting that Hoppe really didn't do a helluva lot with Schalke U19s and Schalke II. His promotion to the Schalke first team was a surprise to even youth watchers, and then his almost immediate performance level was an even bigger shock. Even youth watchers were like.............."where did this come from?"

Not sure how much blame Kleiban should have for cutting Hoppe at 15 as a midfielder but then again if you position yourself as a guru then yes, you should have seen what he could become. Being around youth coaches that is a lot of what they talk about when evaluating new players. I've even heard some of them say they can tell in about ten minutes how good a kid will become. I always that was crap but they are experts not me.
In regards to Scally (and any players in similar situations). IMO the don't bring them in because we can qualify without them is faulty logic for one simple reason. EVEN if its true. We are just over a year away from the WC. We will be taking a young team that has not played together for years and years. There are only limited matches left to get these guys playing well together. This has nothing to do with any thing Berhalter is or isn't doing. Players need time together to gel. Bring him in.
