Well, we know they aren't pushovers. Just need all 3 pts. Allison Trent-Matip-VVD-Robertson Henderson-Fabinho-Jones Salah-Jota-Mane
so far they've beaten Arsenal and Wolves, drew with CP and Villa. only loss is to Brighton. have done well vs weak teams in the EFL (7-0 vs Oldham last night). no easy games in the Prem.
Former Red Sergi Canos putting in shifts for them. Probably about right. Only real question is around that 3rd midfielder, with Porto and City to follow. I would doubt Jones would get all 3 games off the back of the game last night, so it will depend on who Klopp wants for the City game in the event Thiago and Kieta aren't available.
so -- no Keita, no Thiago, no Harvey .... Ox playing like he's forgotten how to kick the ball. that lineup gets my vote.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on Brentford : The football they play is incredible and the organisation is incredible so Thomas and Brentford is doing an incredible job. They show even with less money you can create something really special. They are incredibly well-drilled football team. Everyone knows what to do, everyone is ready to make the extra yard. I saw them celebrating after the Arsenal game which was absolutely great to see how much it meant to them and we know what we have to expect them. The whole team defends like it's the last game of their lives and that is really impressive. Congratulations on that so far. The start they had is really good and I'm pretty sure they are not satisfied yet. It will be an interesting game because two really lively high intense teams will face each other. The home team has the crowd on their back and we have to make sure that we can calm the atmosphere a little bit down only for that day because apart from that I am completely fine that they have the best season of their lives because I really like what they do.
guardian: Brentford prepare for their first meeting with one of the Premier League’s elite and, having put plenty of credit in the bank with eight points from five games, they have earned the right to a proper go at Liverpool. Entertainment seems guaranteed and both defences will be gainfully occupied. Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah have begun this season with purpose, even by their high standards. With 24 and 22 attempts at goal respectively, the pair have comfortably outshot anyone else in the division and scored seven between them. Although Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbuemo have not let fly as often, they will present a handful themselves. The Bees’ frontmen have not allowed opponents much rest so far and after they combined to down Wolves last week, Thomas Frank felt moved to compare them with Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole. That particular combination gave Liverpool plenty to fear back in the day: now their would-be modern equivalents have a chance to take the next scalp in Brentford’s remarkable rise.
I was surprised by some of the good players who have moved on from Brentford in recent years and yet the club still looks pretty well stocked again this season. Among those sold are ; Ollie Watkins Sahid Benrahma Neal Maupay Ezra Konza Brentford seem to have a knack of finding good players and if their start is any thing to go by they have another good crop.
How quickly an area which once looked very deep in options can look a bit thin. Potentially a knock to one of those three or an off game really might impact on us. Perhaps we'll see a U23 like Balagizi or Dixon-Bonner on the bench tomorrow.
could be a good weekend for us ... a win at Brentford, then Shitty and Cheatsea end up drawing. .... ?
A lot of people are saying that I have the best present tense, some of the most present of any tenses in the world.
