One bad signing can - sometimes - cost a team the league (Rodney Marsh joining Man City in March 72 destabilized their league-topping front line; Faustino Asprilla brought on and off-the-pitch indiscipline to a Newcastle that needed steadying) relegation is never down to one player's deficiencies. However, a relegated side, just like the title-winner, is the result of several years of (bad) decision-making. An EPL or BL1 side has 26-30 players, some of whom joined this season and some of whom joined four seasons ago. If there isn't a functioning alternative to a single under-performing player, that might be the coach's fault, but it's usually the fault of the Front Office for assembling a squad of mismatched or just inadequate players. If it is the coach's fault, the blame still come back to the suits, because they hired the wrong guy to begin with and then didn't fire him early enough. Josh or Bobby's inadequacies were a problem for Bremen and HSV, but they weren't the problem.
The way they talked about Jozy post-facto made me think he was the one, TBH. The Ready To Go forums were great, though, because they talked about all teams in all leagues.
Juventus consider offering Weston McKennie for Granit Xhaka #Arsenal https://t.co/CRdoPoACiU— Daily Cannon (@DailyCannon) September 21, 2021
Look, none of these transfer rumors mean shit in September. January is a lifetime away, Alegri could be gone and Pirlo back in 2 weeks, or Wes completely resurrected. one thing I’m sure of is Xhala won’t be an upgrade over McKennie
He's destined to play in the Premier League. It's just whether it's a big club or midtable club, that's the uncertainty.
I'd say he's more destined to play in the Championship, the way things are going. We'll see. But if you're a gritty guy who's not that great technically, you really need a clean sheet in everything else. Otherwise, it's the Swanseas and Boros of the world.
Has anyone noticed that when YAs are having down stretches, certain posters here become much more active? We have some instinctive grave-dancers here.
But Josh may well get the prize (5 scalps value?) for damning to relegation consecutive teams in top 5 leagues.
The Championship...LOL. Stop being so dramatic. Weston is a very good player and he was able to prove that last year at Juve. Juve as a club is a mess right now and it has nothing to do with McKennie. He may lose playing time but that has more to do with the coach than Weston. As I am sure you are aware, no one is playing particularly well right now at Juve. Pirlo is looking pretty good right now.
Honestly, Arsenal would be silly not to take this swap (Wes for Xhaka) if the rumor is real. https://www.juvefc.com/report-juventus-hoping-to-swap-mckennie-with-arsenal-midfielder/
I am shocked that more people didn't see that guys like Bentancur and Rabiot and Artur are absolute trash in the midfield. Bentancur LOOKS the part but has no passing range (less than Wes I'd argue) and has a shit work rate. The other guys are just mid table level midfielders. At least Weston gives you consistent hustle, even if sometimes it's misplaced. And don't even get me started on their forward and attacker situation. Ronaldo bailed them out half a dozen times last year, selling him might be been financially pruduct but it's a huge setback and put them from like a borderline UCL finishing team in Serie A to frankly probably mid table. Long season but right now they look like shit.

Hoping for a better showing from Wes compared to his last start! I'm curious to see how he lines up, whether it is a straight swap with Locatelli (roles/responsibility wise) or he moves out wide and Rabiot switches inside.
80th minute and McKennie has been extremely disappointing tonight. He's not doing himself any favors.
I never understand why posters willing to spend hours a day posting about soccer won’t pay a couple of bucks for paramount and espn plus.
really... how so? I only got to watch from the 75th min on but, the PBP thread had a pretty positive feel. Juve did absolutely nothing after their last goal and that had nothing to do with Wes. "extremely disappointing" is a strong statement. I can't imagine he was that bad.
Well the good news (not exactly news) is that the rest of the options (Ramsey, Bentancur, and Rabiot) are also trash at this moment. With that said, I don't think he played that badly, he started well and then tailed off a bit on influence in the game. I don't think he solidified a starting position next to Locatelli or anything, but I don't think he should be firmly behind any of the others that I mentioned. My biggest take away for Wes is that his give a **** factor seems to be non-existent compared to last year. I don't know if Max has tried to control him too much or he is still trying to get over the USMNT thing. I do think that Wes is holding the team shape in CM a lot more compared to last year under Pirlo, so that is great for me.
