🇵🇪Yordy Reyna del @dcunited y 🇺🇸Miles Robinson del @ATLUTD se pierden el cotejo de hoy😔🎙️Así nos lo reporta @cantogoles👌🔴En vivo por TUDN pic.twitter.com/FEV2cVPwKV— TUDN USA (@TUDNUSA) September 18, 2021 Miles robinson not in the squad for Atlanta today but Tudn is reporting that he is being given rest and is not because of any injury
OUT: Christian Pulisic (immediate) Gio Reyna (October) Sam Vines (November) Aaron Long (out past November) Jordan Morris (out past November - back in training) Richie Ledezma (out past November - return is past due) Eryk Williamson (likely out through all of WCQ) IN Daryl Dike Yunus Musah Paul Arriola Gyasi Zardes Tim Weah Josh Sargent Zack Steffen Sergino Dest
Does anyone know if Ledezma is still alive? We’re two months past his return date and not a peep. Seems odd.
It seems there are complications from the injury. We can’t assume he’s going to be the same player when he returns, unfortunately.
The last report was the club was hopeful he could be back by mid to late October. Nothing has been heard since but I believe he’s doing some training (though not sure it’s individual or with the team). Can’t imagine we see him any sooner than the late January window. 🇳🇱 Hearing things are trending in the right direction for PSV's Richy Ledezma as he continues battling back from his serious knee injury. Club is hopeful he can return in mid to late October, I'm told.— Roger Gonzalez (@RGonzalezCBS) August 25, 2021
Update on Jordan Morris Brian Schmetzer on Jordan Morris' status: "He looks good to me. I’d put him into full training, but I’m not a doctor." Here's the full quote: pic.twitter.com/tiKuZYnjZz— Jeremiah Oshan (@JeremiahOshan) September 20, 2021 Sounds like he’ll be back soon, maybe in time for the November window?
Great news. I don’t see him in the November window though... that’s too soon for such a major injury. Unless of course he’s just annihilating it between here and then.
Good news. Way too soon for USMNT involvement, though. Perhaps if he's back to playing with Seattle, we can bring him in to January camp. He's a player whose difference-making asset is pace. Let's see if the pace is back to 100%. In the meantime, we have four guys from La Liga and Ligue 1 who weren't part of the last window (Hoppe, Gioacchini, Weah, and Musah; Musah of course has played on the right wing).
More than just pace. Pace with strength. And effort and hustle and he plays harder when the game is on the line. He's a lot like Charlie Davies and he made everyone around him better occupying defenders who not only had to match his speed but fend off his strength at speed. We missed Davies and we probably miss Morris more than we know. A fast bruiser that can shoot is pretty valuable.
Nothing since the most recent update, which was that Dortmund was hoping to having him back this weekend but his return has been delayed "a bit." With no clarification as to how long it's been delayed till. It's possible I guess he'd play in the games the weekend of the 2nd but it will definitely be the case he won't have seen any time when the roster is named.
Sure. I like Jordan Morris as much as the next guy. I'm not going to say he should be in the USMNT thru the end of the year until I can see that he's back to his full strength with Seattle. That's all.
Out much longer and the October window is at risk.......................... Tuchel says Pulisic is still out and that Mason Mount got a minor injury vs Villa. They will be out vs Man City with everyone else back, including Mendy. #CFC #MCFC— Nizaar Kinsella (@NizaarKinsella) September 24, 2021
"Only American Richard Ledezma is expected to be out for another month and a half."ETA Early/Mid November https://t.co/fLlkO9LciG— scott jorek (@Burgermeister73) September 24, 2021
Other nations don't seem so frail. Why are we so frail? Of the group that people seem to consider the core: Pulisic, Reyna, Dest, McKennie, Adams, Brooks ... we've rarely ever had these guys together, but out of 18 potential player-games available in window one, we had, what, 11 max? Four of them were available for less than 2 games? Add in Steffen, Weah, Morris, Musah, Vines, Zardes, and Richards all out with some kind of injury issue and we continue to simply never be anywhere close to healthy. This window has Reyna out for certain, and possibly Pulisic as well. Good news is that players like Musah and Weah are technically playing but doubtfully in form.
Indeed that group has seen the field together for the national team, nor has the smaller group of Pulisic, Reyna, Adams, and McKennie ever seen the field together at the same time. And Pulisic, Adams, and McKennie have only ever started one USMNT game together have played a total of 114 minutes together over three games. For all the talk about Berhalter, I'd for once just like to see what the team looks like when we have all our first choice guys healthy. I know that injuries, suspensions, etc happen but its crazy to me that we've never had the full group together really.
Or it could be like how Donovan and Dempsey rarely played well together at the same time. It'll be interesting to see how Berhalter can put those puzzle pieces together.
Yeah, I don't think our pieces fit all that well together. It's not some impossible puzzle, but there's a decent amount of skill overlap. Pulisic, Reyna and Dest are more similar in terms of skillset than I'd like. McKennie and Adams are really strong players, but we don't have a strong connector -- someone like Jorginho on this team would be an amazing link together. I posed this question somewhere else: but can anyone remember a strong passing play between Pulisic and Reyna? They haven't played a ton, but they are placed relatively closely on the field, and they don't seem to interact much at all.
Let’s hope it’s not anything serious but this is why I get worried when we play him 90 minutes for all three games in a 7 game window.
Adams may be the player we can least afford to lose for the next window. Let's hope it's a minor problem.
and the one we knew was the ficklest, so to rely on him so heavily was a dicey prospect The 4 players we least could afford to lose were Adams, Miles, Antonee, and Gio; probably in that order. It appears 1 and 4 will be out for this camp. So it's going to require our poor button-pushing coach to push the right buttons this time. Maybe Wes could prove he's disciplined on the field too by filling in at 6 and actually staying home this time.
Well if the Gold Cup taught us anything, Acosta can deputize pretty well at the 6 in his absence. And he’s much better there than he is further up the field. Obviously I hope Adams is there though.
It didn't, and he didn't. He struggled because we had more possession than late in GC. And this window we'd project to have even more because there's 2 home games. Acosta shouldn't be starting, outside the 1 road game. If Berhalter uses him as general option A in a rotation, it would show me that he lacks ability to analyze player strengths/weaknesses, and adjust accordingly based on situation. I would worry we would get sub-standard results again (< 7 pts, should get 9 to make up for last window), at which point Gregg's job would be in jeopardy. So Adams better get well soon, for the team and Gregg's security.
