He grew up in England. The #6 is typically #4 there and the #6 is a CB. In Brazil, the #6 is #5 (Emerson, Casemiro) and the left back is #6. Funny how the numbers worked out in different countries.

#8 is taken by a senior player.

In stoppage time, Musah had sweet solo effort with the long run but couldn’t quite get enough on the shot which was blocked by a defender. Musah received the ball on the right touchline deep inside his defense half. He drove down the line beating several players, got near the corner flag, cut inside driving down the end line, danced past one defender, cut in again but it was a hard angle and the defender blocked his shot. That run had a little bit of everything — speed, power, and finesse. Man, if he would have scored that….. woah.

Playing on the right, looking like a boss in the few minutes I've been watching. Just created a really nice chance around minute 50.

He's been a serious threat on the dribble, just floating by guys like KDB.

Goal Valencia 1-0. Musah not involved.

He's now had a stretch of about 10 minutes where he has kind of switched off. His workrate isn't Aaronson-esque, to say the least. This has been a consistent theme every time I've watched Musah at Valencia. Stretches where he looks amazing, followed by stretches of strolling.

Two late goals from Madrid and it's 2-1. IMO really an embarrassing lack of defensive effort from Musah on both goals. I guess it's debatable whose responsibility was Vinicius on the first. But on the second goal, he just sort stood there from 10 feet away and watched Vinicius cross the ball uncontested into Benzema.

Definitely has not been working in the past 30 minutes and might/should have done better closing down on both Real goals. He's got some good skills but he has to show more industry in such key points of a big match.

The only possible defense for that performance in the second half is that he doesn't have his legs back yet. He has some responsibility for both goals (not pressuring/closing down) and there were other opportunities for Madrid where he just stood and watched instead of closing someone down.

He was exhausted. But wow his ability is immense. Really really looking forward to him In the next USMNT window!!

whens the last time he had a full 90? is he fully match fit?

subbing on early in a match leads me to believe - based on reports - that he wasnt ready for a full match yet (least I hope thats the explanation)

Is he considered a very one-footed player? I've never thought about it before, but on the dribbling sequences I hardly saw him touch the ball with his left foot at all.

Has he ever played a full 90, or even 45, at club level? Esp against Real Madrid?

He subbed on early because Carlos Soler got hurt and they decided to take him out. Musah was the most logical replacement. A big part of the reason he's not playing 90s for Valencia is not being an obvious first choice player for them, with fitness being an additional, probably lesser, reason as he comes back from the recent injury.

This is the most minutes he played this season due to his injury but last year he had 1500 minutes, many starts and went over 45 in a lot of games. Almost always subbed out but went 90 at least once and over 80 a bunch of times.
