He's 20, I think he's had a couple of pre-seasons now. Funny how it went under the radar until the final registrations for the Liga came out and his name appeared in Porto's squad. But judging from the Porto fans reaction, this was another steal from us, they were saying Cruz is one of their top prospects.
So breaking down our ins/outs according to transfermarkt: Entradas: Ugarte - 6.5M (50% of his rights) Esgaio - 5.5M Gonçalo Esteves - free transfer Ruben Vinagre - loan (rumoured option to buy for 10M) Pablo Sarabia - loan João Virgínia - loan (option to buy for 3.5M) Saídas: Nuno Mendes - loan (7M loan fee) to PSG Valentin Rosier - 5M to Besiktas Luís Maximiano - 4.5M (5M if objectives are achieved) to Granada Josip Misic - 2M to Dinamo Zagreb Antunes - free transfer to Paços Ferreira Lumor - free transfer to Aris Saloniki Ivanildo Fernandes - free transfer to Vizela Tiago Ilori - loan to Boavista Gonzalo Plata - loan to Valladolid (option to buy for 10M for 50% of his rights) Pedro Mendes - loaned to Rio Ave Pedro Marques - loan to Famalicao Eduardo - loan to Al-Raed Battaglia - loan to Mallorca Rafael Camacho - loan to Belenenses SAD Andraz Sporar - loan to Middlesborough (option to buy for 8.5M) Luiz Phellype - loan to Santa Clara Idrissa Doumbia - loan to Zulte Waregem (option to buy for 3M) Eduardo Quaresma - loan to Tondela Abdoulay Diaby - free transfer to Al-Jazira Mattheus Oliveira - rescinded contract Joao Pereira - retired Think I'm not missing anyone, but basically: - we got rid of most of the dead weight except for Renan (GK), most of them are loans but at least maybe they can get playing time and maybe a club becomes interested in them - we spent roughly 12M euros to add depth options to the squad. - we received roughly 18.5M euros in exits - we could receive at least 40M more, although we also have a few loans with options to buy we need to decide this year (Porro for 8.5M, Vinagre for 10M)
I know we all asked for a striker but after getting Sarabia on loan I really think the club should still look at options for CB. We loaned out Quaresma which means we have 4 CB's for 3 spots. Inacio, Feddal and Coates have been fantastic but it's easy to foresee fatigue or injury with Feddal and Neto is our only true backup. Matheus Reis is a makeshift option. Really hope we look at picking up someone on a free transfer. With us clearing a ton of salaries from deadweight it would be nice to add another experienced defender at the back: Jemerson - ex Monaco 29 yr old N'Koulou - 31 yr old ex-Monaco, Torino Mustafi - ex Arsenal 31 yr old David Luiz - highly doubt he would ever come but you never know
Sarabia scored for Spain from a wing forward position. I can see him and Pote forming a devastating strike partnership. I guess we can throw in Paulinho too for the lulz.
Pote on the left cutting inside on his right foot. Sarabia cutting in from the right and shooting/passing with his left Porro and Vinagre overlapping Hopefully it all comes together on the pitch
Yeah. I feel like our thin squad will feel the weight of the extra games this season. Looking at some free transfers, there's some portuguese names that are ending their contract next summer. Most notably. Fabio Vieira - Porto (market value of 9M) Diogo Costa - Porto (market value of 6M) Dany Mota - Monza (market value of 4M) While I don't believe they will let Diogo Costa for free. Maybe the other 2 names could be really good free transfers if we can persuade them. Vieira is a talent but Conceicao doesn't seem to like him.
https://www.abola.pt/Nnh/Noticias/Ver/905208?fb=1 I could've told these clowns this last month but it took an ass-whooping at home for these idiots to realize it. Also, good thing we spent all that money on Ugarte for a position we didn't need to backfill only to never play him.
Maybe there's someone for free available that could come in. I think free transfers could be signed. Odd though to loan out Quaresma and not replace him. Also strange not to see Ugarte, but after JM left I think we did need a midfielder
From Fabrizio Romano: Paris Saint-Germain are ‘enthusiastic’ about Nuno Mendes impact. The plan is to sign him on permanent deal in 2022 for €40m buy option. 🔵🇵🇹 #PSGPSG signed Nuno on loan [€7m] because of Financial Fair Play - but the idea was already clear: he’s “one for the future”. pic.twitter.com/ytokAs2ZSR— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 12, 2021 Also, Eduardo Quaresma with a great performance for Portugal U21 and also playing regularly for Tondela. Would you bring him back In January and risk interrupting his development?
Official: Daniel Bragança gets a new contract until 2025. He'll get a salary now of 200K a year and a 45M euro release clause.
Official: Matheus Nunes signs a new contract until 2026. He'll get a salary raise and maintain his release clause of 60M euros.
Sporting presented all the details of the summer transfer window arrivals and departures, here's a summary including some things we didn't know about: Arrivals (the main ones): Manuel Ugarte - Famalicao - 6.5M + 1M in potential additional bonus + 0.084M commission for 100% of his rights (Famalicao get 50% of a future sale) Ricardo Esgaio - Braga - 5.5M + 0.1M commission for 80% of his rights (we already owned 20% from before so we now own him for 100%). Marco Cruz - FC Porto - 11M (this is in exchange for Rodrigo Fernandes, who we also "sold" for 11M, a trick used by both clubs to increase value of assets) A few free transfers in Ettiene Catena, Jose Marsa, Francisco Felix. Vando Felix and Domingos Andrade joined for 100K each but we owe Leixoes 40% of a future sale. Pablo Sarabia - PSG - 2M (apparently not free, the loan does cost us) Ruben Vinagre - Wolves - loan with option to buy 50% for an undisclosed fee, which can become obligatory if certain objectives are fulfilled Joao Virgina - Everton - Option to buy Departures: Josip Misic - Dinamo Zagreb - 2M (SCP keeps 20% of future profit of sale) Rodrigo Fernandes - FC Porto - 11M (see Marco Cruz above) Valentin Rosier - Besiktas - 5.1M + 0.5M potential bonus fee (SCP get 20% of a future sale) Luis Maximiano - Granada - 4.5M + 0.5M potential bonus fee A bunch of free transfers including the likes of Elves Balde, Leonardo Ruiz, Lumor, Diaby, Antunes, Mattheus Oliveira, Eduardo, Battaglia, Sporar, Plata, Doumbia (last 3 have options to buy) Loans include Ilori, Camacho, Luiz Phellype, Eduardo Quaresma for loan fees between 100-200K each Nuno Mendes - PSG - 7M loan fee with an option to buy (not stated, but known to be 40M) Joelson - FC Basel - loaned for 2 years, can be recalled after 1 year, with option to buy and SCP has option to buy him back
A shame that we weren't in a position to get more for Luis Maximiano. He's been pretty solid in his starts for Granada so far, 2 clean sheets in 6 La Liga matches, with only 7 goals conceded so far. Still 22 years old, a lot of good years ahead for him in his career.
Record (who usually has the inside scoop on Sporting) says Porro will sign a permanent deal until 2025 and a 45M euro clause. The player is in his 2nd year with us on loan and we have a rumored option to buy him from Man City for 8.5M euros.
If I make it back to Lisbon this season definitely will be getting a Pote kit, not the worst kit with 28 on the back I own
Record says Porro deal is done, we're going to action his clause. 8.5M but in the loan deal made in 2020 City also included a buy back clause (Record says 20M, others say 17M). Either way, not sure if right now City is buying him with Cancelo and Walker. Still, I think he's a fan favourite to everyone and having him on a permanent deal is fantastic.
Nuno Mendes to @OnzeMondial: “Many clubs wanted me last summer, yes - but I told my agent that PSG was my priority and I am happy to have joined this club” 🔵 #PSG…and Paris Saint-Germain are loving Nuno impact, as they’re already planning to pay €40m buy option in June 2022.— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) November 5, 2021
At the end of the day, 40 million will always be good money. But I think if he were to stay and develop at Sporting for another year or two and perform in the Champions League, he could've risen to 60 to 80 million.
True but who knows. He could also get an injury that changes his career. And we also got Sarabia for a year who so far has been stellar for us.
His price tag definitely would have increased if he stayed another year. It is what it is. I'll gladly take the 40 mill though lol.
