And Chelsea still won the game pretty handily. That should be pretty scary and a testament of how much better they can become once Saul finds his footing in English football. Also showed to Tuchel that he will probably be able to be patient with him, along with trying in different roles, with different partners etc...
Can easily see how, due to the seriousness of Elliott's injury, the red will not be rescinded. I believe it should though: as bad as this was, it was an accident. Struijk never had any intention of hurting him (clearly felt bad about what happened afterwards) and he should have gotten a yellow.
The problem I have if this ISN'T rescinded, is there was tackle that was identical made on Richarlson this week, and no redcard was given there just because the same injury didn't occur. The tackle has to be looked at, not the result. Like just because a player manages to get off the ground and not plant their foot doesn't make going over the ball any better
there was one in the same game on Mané where nothing happened nothing given. upholding the red is stupid. i get the emotion and sympathy for an 18 year old but it was not a reckless or malicious tackle or even excessive force just unfortunately unique circumstances
Barca have not caused any threat to Bayern today, for all intents and purposes. 0-2 and the German side is strolling at the Camp Nou. Mentioned it just this past weekend, but Musiala looks like he's going to be a pretty big deal. He's already looking superb right now.
Funnily though one of Barcelona's biggest shortcomings is also something we're struggling with. They're not used to crossing the ball into the box for a proper target forward, and failed to make use of De Jong's skillset. It's something we're going to struggle with at times (mainly because Wan Bissaka can't cross) to take advantage of Ronnie's aerial prowess.
Funny that some were doubting Lukaku's move to Chelsea. If he stays healthy he's going to bang a crazy amount of goals this year... Meanwhile Lewa makes it 0-3: destruction complete.
Leeds' appeal for Struijk's red has been rejected by the Prem. Big respect for Elliott and his reaction to this decision.
Pretty good day of football overall today in the CL, from a purely entertainment value. Ten Hag: “I want us to remain calm and to play in our own style. High pressure and always being the team in possession. This is a tough opponent but we are a great team and our away record is very good. We are missing key players but that doesn’t matter." pic.twitter.com/VAeSNsnTre— 𝐀𝐅𝐂 𝐀𝐉𝐀𝐗 💎 (@TheEuropeanLad) September 15, 2021 Great approach, mindset and Ajax totally backing that statement up with the way they performed today in Lisbon vs Sporting. I really hope that when the day comes for Ole to be replaced, this guy will still be available and is one of the club's top targets. Fun to think what he could do with our team.
disagree. players shouldn't be going public with their views like this I think the level of officiating in the PL is mediocre way too often, but players openly saying "the ref screwed up" on big decisions like this isn't gonna help anyone is it. he should keep his thoughts private between him and Struijk.
You said it yourself: the officiating in the Prem is poor and has been so for a long time. That is something that has been known and pretty much everyone agrees upon. Shining a light on it and having people (especially those directly involved in the game) say as much whenever is applicable might help in the long run. Keeping quiet and just accepting things as they are, does nothing but enable the FA in this case.
I've often thought about how to get the subjectivity out of football and the refereeing of it, but its not so easy.
every week (I think) players are wearing "Respect" armbands. going public (unnecessarily) to essentially call a ref a screw-up, isn't showing a ton of respect. I really don't know why Elliott did it, tbh. I can't recall a player doing that before ....?
There’s a much longer history of referees failing to admit fault compared to players. A consistent holier than thou attitude from referees and the fa doesn’t leave much room for respect. Respect is earned and calling out individuals who can’t admit fault for their mistakes isn’t a lack of respect. It’s living in the real world and moving towards fairness. Now, kindly ******** off with your opinion and posts.
would you be ok if after each game refs starting criticizing players for what they think are errors? would you be ok if players lined up to criticize every error a ref made? there's enough crap thrown around already imo.
There is nothing inherently disrespectful in pointing out that a decision, in ones opinion, is not correct, especially when there is a strong/valid argument supporting that point of view. What becomes disrespectful is the manner in which that opinion is voiced...
ah - I was wondering how long it would take ... you lot were discussing a Liverpool player's behaviour - the only reason I'm here, and as you may have noticed I'm not trolling or being an asshole.
good job perpetuating and reinforcing the image people have of Manc supporters. btw how's the CL treating you so far?
While most teams are reveling on having fans back on the grounds (and probably have to turn people away), City have to beg their fans, wherever they are, to come to support them... Champions of England you know 😫😅 pic.twitter.com/VqjymYdmWg— Marvin Fresh Ego Kid. (@MarvinNMorgan) September 16, 2021
1. Yes i would be okay. Especially because players and coaches give so much shit to the refs. They should be able to to take it back. 2. No. Just the bad ones.
