I know I'm going to get flamed all to hell for this, but: Land Grant & Endeavor are grossly overrated. 90% of the time I've gone to Land Grant it's been because of Ray Ray's, which is it's best feature. I can't think of anything good to say about Endeavor.
I don't think you'll be flamed. Or you shouldn't be. I went out to Edison Brewing in Gahanna a few weeks ago any it blew my effing mind. Light years better than those two places. That said, the comparison here isn't where those places stand vis-a-vis other local breweries. It's where to go to watch a televised Crew game. With the other discussed option being the stadium.
Yeah, sorry, I should have closed out the thought: Given that Land Grant and Endeavor are both overrated, I think a lot of people are looking for any alternative. The team has a big opportunity here, I hope that Ty Phillips is doing hard work in this area and that they rise to the challenge. Partially unrelated: If you haven't been to Nocterra Brewing in Powell yet I highly recommend it.
Ray Ray's and the patio is the reason I go to land grant. I like massive but that's about it from their beer menu. I go to endeavor because it's close. Their Mexican lager is good. Nocterra needs to bring back southern terminus and put up tvs but that's probably not their demographic.
This is what I was going to say. I generally like LG beer - but some beer and RayRay’s out in the beer garden there is pretty great.
One thing I've thought about a couple times: there's going to be a lot of people seeing the LDC and the smokestack for the first time today as they drive to the shoe. Hopefully they check it out/Google it.
Dumb question, but does ray ray's still sell soft drinks at their truck or is only beer available since they're at Land Grant? Asking as a nondrinker.
They have a cooler next to the food truck, it has non-alcoholic drinks in it but I’m not sure what they where specifically. I didn’t look that close when I was there a couple of weeks ago.
By the way... since there were some incidents early on with the roof leaking, I'd just like to point out that it can always get worse... So did anyone here go to the watch party at the stadium pub? No references to it on Reddit. Just curious what it was like.
From everything I'm reading, OSU had a lot of the same problems with concessions (long lines, understaffing) at the Oregon game this weekend that we've been having at the LDC. Maybe we have to consider the possibility the front office isn't bumbling this, and that there are larger problems happening.
Marisa Williams got promoted to premium sales today. As someone that is fortunate to have had her as my rep, it would have been nice to find out through a STM email (with or without an introduction to a new rep) instead of finding out from a LinkedIn notification. Well deserved by her in any event.
Bravo for her. As usual in these situations you love to see good people get ahead but it also means that a bunch more people will be having their phone calls and emails ignored. But congrats to one of the good ones.
I started working with her when the new stadium ticket sales began, she has been excellent. What exactly is "premium sales", and how does this change her role?
High end club seating, field seats and suites. Basically you're the rep for a handful of corporate clients instead of several hundred individual accounts like ours. There's usually also a greater emphasis on proactive outbound sales where you're calling to upsell existing club seat holders on premium tickets or trying to get new corporate season ticket commitments. If she does well, she'll finally be making good money.
One thing I didn't realize that I missed when I went to the Inter Miami game was a big concourse with a mini-pitch, vendors, etc. The atmosphere at Drv Pnk was a lot more enjoyable pre-game. Not a huge issue, I just wish we had planned for a real concourse not the small one that we have. There's really nothing to do before the game at our stadium if you get to the gates early (except sit at the Pub or the beer garden which is really the same as what there is to do outside of the stadium on gamedays). I also liked their goal song and how it got their entire stadium dancing and having fun. Do we even have a goal song? They had a fun dimming of the lights/light show pre-game and before the second half which was cool and got the crowd going. Nice atmosphere even with probably less than 15k fans at the game. You can definitely tell they don't plan on being in Ft. Lauderdale long term as the entire stadium seems like it can be moved at a moment's notice.
