then their evil plan is working - you are buying inside.... and $13 for a 20oz beer is an expected and pretty normal (if ridiculous) price for beer in such a venue. and I remember being charged $6 for 12oz buttweisers at RFK...
Yes, why is it when I walk past the beer outlets on the way to my seat that half the taps seem not to be working - and this before the match begins?
Isn't this like the 2nd year Levy has been the food service operator at Audi Field? I've not seen anything from them anybetter than any other food service operator going back to the RFK days.
Consider joining the Screaming Eagles. The cost of an annual membership is $30 and, at the pregame tailgate, beer and soft drinks are free.
The bar on the East side was totally dismantled this year during the limited seating games. Maybe they had it going again on the 21st (I was in the club seats that game) but there was literally nowhere to get a draft beer upstairs on the East side for months. I know there are others on the main concourse that I've walked past, but I am generally satisfied with a can of Lagunitas or Dos Equis at the game so I am not super picky...
Something I've noticed about parking. As an STH, you get a discount code for use with SpotHero. However, if you search for the parking lot behind the stadium, it never shows. Tonight, I opened SpotHero and the lot behind the stadium was open, sans discount. I canceled my other reservation after securing a space that is within 5 minutes of the entrance.
You have to plan ahead and know all of the back ways in and out. If you miscalculate, you will be screwed. I once sat in the lot for 45 minutes and moved about 10 feet.
I did that, but the problem was that it the beer wasn't super-cold to begin with and both nights it was really hot and muggy, so it kinda backfired on me. Getting the refills was pretty easy, though, I'll give them that.
I haven't figured out the back way in yet (I thought going by Fort McNair in would work...nope!) but did learn the back way out after watching tons of cars zoom past while I was stuck at a light on Half Street while people were using the back ways and making it impossible for people who were on Half Street prior to S (or R) to go anywhere.
I miss the beer vendor who often worked my area at RFK and who would see me and immediately grab me an ice cold Modelo.
Your tickets will be tattooed onto your arm. Very difficult to transfer. https://images.app.goo.gl/cPwNeTLbNFCFkoUr9
The Eagles have been tailgating at the Matthew Henson Earth Conservation Center since the move to Audi Field, and I know the Ultras do whatever they do on Water Street. Not sure what the Barra are doing these days, but I don't know if they know what they're doing, either.
So where is this pregame tailgate? I attend the matches with a SE member, but he goes directly to his seat.
SEs are at the Matthew Henson Conservation Center. They did not, and actually cannot, say "tailgating is not allowed." Well, they can on the property they control - and while they have not publicly issued a prohibition they have not permitted anyone to do so. But they have, with malice aforethought as I call it, effectively destroyed tailgating with their site selection, attitude and policies. The team use to actively provide lots of support and coordination to the SG tailgates (storage space, logistical support, etc) - including having players, employees and senior managers, all the way up to the owners (my 4 yo once served margaritas to Will Chang). Leviathan reneged on their promises to give supporters space to tailgate on stadium grounds. I believe some renderings showed t-gates in the plaza area by what is now gate A. For about a minute they dangled potentially allowing supporters to do it (ha ha, he said do it) on the grass area in front of the VIP entrance (which at some point is to become a hotel -so I guess someone will be doing it there eventually). But in reality they have not only done nothing to facilitate tgating everything they have done is specifically designed and intended to reduce if not eliminate it. There are only private parking lots in the area which generally prohibit "organized" tailgates; while they dont much get in the way of very small groups having a few pops none are allowing large groups and definitely no grilling/picnicking/chairs, etc. They police it pretty rigorously in the south parking lot. That the Ultras continue to party on Water St next to the cement plant is not because the team is in favor of it. The SE's found a location a block or two away from the stadium. I actually helped the Barra get their drink on at that little popup bar on the corner at Half and S before the warehouse got redeveloped - what they are doing now I have no idea. We were doing Chef David's tgate in the grassy area on the other side of the bldg but for a variety of reasons our smaller group has gone by the wayside. At the 2017 opening and into 2018 the grassy area had drinks, some food trucks, picnic tables/hay bales and even a few bands. But the team stoppped doing that right quick. Maybe in 2017 and for a few games in 2018 they offered a pretty nice tgate-like entertainment/food/alcohol (with axe-throwing! - what could possibly go wrong?) in the south side parking lot directly next to the stadium. But they ditched that long before the end of the season, too. They could have chosen to support it. And even make money off it. But, nope.
