any word if it will be released in the US or only in the UK? I really would like to read this so I'll import it if needed
Antonio Cassano defends Luciano Spalletti and says Francesco Totti ‘will be forgotten in 20 years’ as ‘only Leo Messi, Diego Maradona, Johan Cruijff are eternal.’ https://t.co/Xup1U8JNKH #ASRoma #Roma #SerieA #Calcio #Totti #Cassano— Football Italia (@footballitalia) October 26, 2021 Eh but Sal
Sadly though, Cassano may be right. Unless you are over 45-50, not too many people still remember or brag much about Roma greats Giuseppe Giannini and Bruno Conti and they were kings of Rome 30 years ago. Time tends to forget players.
That;s true. I was speaking to a keen soccer fan the other day aged 26 who had never heard of George Weah!
Sadly, today's younger fans won't even know Weah. If they try and rate George's son Tim Weah who plays for the USMNT, there is no comparison. Even though he is only 21, he is nowhere near where his dad was as a player. Bringing it back to the thread, I think Francesco’s 16-year-old son Cristian Totti is going to be in the same boat in a few years’ time…
Totti may indeed be forgotten 20 years from now since he played in a 2nd tier side in Italy and not at Barcelona (Cassano is ignoring west African twitter). But nobody even knows who Spalletti is now.
So Cassano who retired because the scales have finally convinced him that he's more akin to a pig for slaughter than an athlete is suddenly flapping his mouth in between pizzas? Classic. The player who had to run through all of Italy's midlisters and bottom listers to get a playing minute has the class of the bald coach who's slowely but surely has been making his way towards a Salernitana coaching gig. You can't spell classless without spelling sal backwards in it as well.
