I hope he doesn’t disappoint when he is given the start, but we saw this before with VJ, impressing coming off the bench only to play like crap when he starts.

It might not be about starting or being a sub, and more about consistency, but he needs to break out of that pattern this season.

If he's not starting every game he's never going to become consistent, he's past that point career wise and looks like a solid starter at the moment. With Mbappe coming he will see fewer minutes and less of the ball when he plays. Unless the deal falls apart, an injury or he absolutely blows Mbappe away with his performances, I won't be surprised if he's at another club a year from now.

The alternative to him is a guy that sucks in every single format, shape and form.

Can't figure out why this is the narrative when one of his best games was against Liverpool in the CL

Nail on the head for me, absolutely not about sub or starting, all about consistency, and yes he does, i'm hoping seeing as how he's started that he can be far more consistent this season

I enjoyed Vini’s game today. He showed a lot of toughness in holding onto possession and turning with pace leaving several Betis defenders on the ground. Guy is getting better and he always busts his ass. Bravo Vini.

Incredible stuff from the kid this season and he has not finished growing, it's funny that not long ago there were some laughing at those of us who said we would never include him in any deal for Mbappe.
You want Mbappe and Vini in the same attack in the future not swap one for the other.
He will undoubtedly go through rough patches in the future, hell maybe even this season but the kid was a sound investment.

Man, I just love seeing Vini happy. Hopefully a superstar in the making, really exciting watching him play this season. The transformation over the summer has been insane.

I knew Vini was never going to miss that, his body language said it all.
Looking composed on the ball and he better keep this up.

The goal celebration with the fans might have just become by fav Bernabeu goal celebration ever, special to see.

I don’t know if it’s because the fans are now even closer to the pitch at the new Bernabeu or what but that’s never happened before as far as I remember.

Vinicius scored already more goals than whole last season..He is really a surprise this season. He improved his dribbling and finishing. Now he dribbles not just using his pace. His current value of 40M€ on transfermarkt would be doubled in next update

The Raul/Helguera goal against Bayern in 07 the players also celebrated with the fans, VJ was cooler though.

Watching him today made me think of that quote in The Matrix, "Don't think you are, know you are". I believe Vini may have finally realized the difference. What an electrifying performance.

He’s the catalyst for so much of our attacking improvement. Enjoy watching him grow. Salute to Vini!

I was the opposite. I would have bet that he missed, I thought he dribbled it too close to the keeper and should have shot earlier.

Very cool finish, won a penalty too, the guy is even managing to dribble out of double teams regularly, when before he would beat the first man and lose it to the second.

And he’s playing more with his head up and knowing where the rest of the team is. He was 1 v 1 with the fullback towards the end of the game but there was no one supporting and there was defensive cover. He didn’t dribble against the fullback and cb into the corner and lose the ball like he would have back in the day, he just stood still until the attack caught up, then passed it across to the midfielders and moved up the pitch. In his head he seems to understand that it doesn’t have to be the Vinicius show every time he gets the ball, which means that on the pitch it’s more likely we get to see the Vinicius show.

He’s so, so fast. Not just in straight lines. In tight spaces, in short sprints, the acceleration from a stopped position. This won’t last his whole career so let’s enjoy the supernatural pace while the young legs still have it.

Also, he is just relentless in going at goal. Nightmare to defend. Sure, he’s making a safe play once in a while to keep possession but he is addicted to driving at goal. Look at the penalty. Shoulder feints, the little gap opens between both players and he penetrates it like a hot knife through butter. Always looking to go past defenders and a total headache to defend.

    His Madridismo is also beautiful.

I always thought ZZ was stunting Vinicius' growth as a footballer. Under Solari he was excellent then ZZ came and he seemed to regres. Now with Ancelotti he looks unplayable.

I expect the same to happen to other younger players now. ZZ was awful at developing these young players.

Look how confident Vini looks right now under Ancelotti. It's beautiful to see. Coaching matters!

Do people really think Vin just instantly got better just because Carlo is coach now or that that it has been a process that has taken time and Carlo is seeing the fruition of lots of hard work over a couple of seasons as a young player grows? which version makes more sense

Yeah sure coaching doesn't matter at all. Just the confidence alone Ancelotti is giving Vini is huge for a player like him.

Also we are playing more attacking football. Again coaching matters! All these things help Vinicius. He is able to express himself. He looks like a completely different player.

But yeah there's no connection at all. It's just random

    People are impatient and stupid.

The same ones who can't grasp why a teenager isn't as consistent as a world class veteran are the same ones who have to make silly reasons to explain when the kid's natural growth process takes him to his next level.
