News out of Mexico camp: Citing @Wolves refusal to allow Raúl Jiménez to travel to Mexico, FMF announces that Cruz Azul striker Santi Giménez will replace the Wolves No. 9 for the upcoming CONCACAF WCQs. https://t.co/JWb3z3yMYt— Felipe Cárdenas (@FelipeCar) September 1, 2021
I’m ok with Chaco Jr. taking Raul’s spot. Raul isn’t even 100% yet, dude is just barely finding back his form
I want to see how he plays with the NT. He seems talented if inexperienced... He's always solid for me in FIFA... I normally turn a profit on him selling him to a Euro club after I buy him for Atlas...
What's the deal with Arteaga all of a sudden coming out in a bunch of conversations?? Usually along the lines of when talking about starters that are missing. He's played only a handful of games for la sele and even less as a starter. I'm excited to see him come into the team as well, but not sure what has given people the indication he's head and shoulders above Gallardo. Been a while since he played at Santos and I doubt as many people that are commenting are watching the Jupiler league.
He is not leagues above Gallardo at all. We as fans get over zealous and desperately want Mexico to gustar y golear. It was one match vs Costa Rica where Arteaga fvcked up by dando la jugada por muerta y por poco CR nos agarran descuidados. He is younger so he should be in line for a chance to compete for left back/carrilero. Arteaga can shine don’t get me wrong but Gallardo offers more at his best.
The FMF has to do something about this. Enough is enough. They need to pressure CONCACAF to set out a press release before games stating if you're caught doing dangerous plays with no intent to touch the ball. You will be red carded and fined. This isn't Futbol. Collapsing on a leg like this is a known way to injure someone. VAMOS CATRACHOS Off-Topic: Watching the Honduras vs. US match. Fun Fact: Brayan Moya, who scored vs. US, was deported from the US to Honduras when he was a boy. He can’t play any competition in the US since he was deported including CCL, Gold Cup and any other competition.— Liga MX Reddit (@LigaMXreddit) September 9, 2021
Most frustrating thing about Tata Martino is that he has an incredible stubborn streak where players we could use fall out of favor, players we could spare continue in the mix far too long, and tactically he remains too rigid switching players when a formation change might be best called for. I’m just an internet keyboard warrior when it comes to coaching, but this is at least what I see. Why not give Santi Gimenez a shot to turn the game around like Berhalter gave Pepi in the Honduras game? Why not put Martin in with Funes Mori to give him more support up top? Why insist on the same back wing players who always seem to make the wrong decision going forward? Hey 7 points at this point is great, but all it takes is one Aztecazo to ruin things. I guess that’s always been the case.
It’s different because Mexico is getting the results and US isn’t. It’s actually disappointing to see how bad Funes Mori was playing. Before he suited up for Mexico I thought he had the backup spot locked behind Raul but now I doubt he makes the WC.
Kudos to what Pepi did but he wouldn't have done the same against Panama and neither would Gimenez for the fact that Panama came in with 4 points and facing a side like Mexico, so when they ran out of gas they sat back and looked for the tie at home. Honduras meanwhile came in poised to win the game and when they got tied they went all for the win. They also wouldn't have misjudged Mexico and thought they were better than them technically and tried to dribble thru them constantly just to lose the ball everytime trying to do their Costly imitation.
That Najar guy looked motivated to prove to the nads what they lost. He was better than Pulisic tonight
How can you be so certain Gimenez wouldn’t have responded, just because Panama parked the bus? I thought Mexico had them on the ropes for the last 10 minutes and the win was there for the taking. My point is that the stubbornness of Martino prevents him from even trying this, but perhaps he was certain Gimenez wasn’t going to do anything either so why try.
The win wasn't there for the taking. Panama closed out and just countered. They have a good defense and once Mexico scored, they just played to get the point and maybe counter but it was nowhere near the way it was for Honduras, who went for the attack from the start because they had to win and planned to do so since the Canada game by resting starters in San Salvador to get the win against the US.
Something still looks off about the team imo. Not in the sky is falling sort of way but there’s so many times in the past few games where a player will hold the ball for what seems like eternity and totally Telegraph where he’s going to pass it very slowly and it inevitably gets intercepted/we get countered. I know not 100% of passes are going to find their target but the incidence of this occurring seems way more frequent than the first part of tata’s reign. It’s like a lot of players have lost their motivation or something I’m not sure. On the plus side, I felt corona finally played better last night
Mexico’s offense was looking good until Pizarro got put. Once he stepped foot on the field he pretty much killed our offense and any chances we had to score what could have been a winning goal
I have been commenting the exact same thing. Si genera nerviosismo sacar un 9 por 9, put 2 up top. Someone that young like Giménez que anota gol andaría inspiradisimo.
For my Mexico archive thread do you guys want me to upload the English Paramount telecast for the recent qualifiers or the Telemundo telecast or Both? https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/mexico-games-and-talk-in-between.2112723/
