Honduras is entering that game with their best players fresh. USA are in for a world of hurt.. their players have to be feeling tired legs. We need three points more than the USA. So it'll be a doozy
Yeah I usually cheer for both Honduras and USMNT. I have season tickets for the Chicago Fire for the past 10 years so I am all in. Honduras is the underdog and always will be at least for me. I always considered them my Dad’s team since he introduced me to football through watching the Honduras NT play on closed circuit tv back in the 90s. USMNT is the team I expect great things. Obviously this new generation can really propel it to new heights but it’s hard not to get excited. In other words I have no horse in this race. I say this while wearing a USMNT jersey being more excited about the ES vs Honduras game than the USA vs Canada game.
I really do hope Honduras can get the 3 points on Wednesday. Dest is hurt and Reyna is out for Wednesday’s game, Pulisic will probably start. I still think this USMNT is a little green for WCQ games playing away.
We lost 1-0 to USA in Nations League in their back yard.. on the 89th minute on some goal scramble. Reality is we'll probably end up tying the Nads, but obviously I'd like to push for all 3 points. Especially now. We're more than capable.
I can't believe muthafuçkas think we park the bus lmao. We play like how Uruguay does, except we don't have the players they do so it looks rough at times, especially in transition. Coito is a Tabarez disciple... Go watch how they play, then watch us.. loads of similarities, but loads of differences too. Coito is trying to adapt that style to our available player pool.
We’ve had 3 Colombian coaches for the last 3 cycles, the Uruguayan style will look a little rough. But I do think Coito knows what he’s doing, the fact that he can rotate lineups and put up a decent result is interesting.
Interesting but also expected. Gold Cup lended itself as a learning curve for what was to come. Forced Coito to improvise on the fly and in doing so gave way to experimenting with depth. Now we see some fruits from that labor. @letsplayfootball said he was skeptical of Jose Garcia playing CB, but tonight confirmed what I been saying, that this roster is actually as deep as we've ever seen before. Leveron and Garcia looked really comfortable out there tonight. Figueroa's replacement is out there, just give it some time. If players like Melendez and Palma take off, this will be a ridiculous return on current talent. Moreso than normal.
A point away in San Salvador might not look the best on paper but giving the standings these are the results we need away from home, whilst stealing points from our rivals. I only caught the first half due to the time difference but I have to say I was left feeling reassured from the back two combination. I like Jose Garcia's stature and he didn't seemed fazed by the occasion and pairing him with another Olimpia defender, I liked. My worry wasn't necessary that we didn't have the talent there as such, it was more I wasn't sure that playing in the highest stake games were the place to be brought into the starting 11. Ultimately though, it's a baptism of fire that perhaps no amount of friendlies or tournament fixtures fully prepares you for. If this is the case, I'm happy to be proven wrong haha.
Panama got a big result in Kingston so already sitting on 4 points. Crucial that Mexico take maximum points to avoid Panama breaking away further.
Como están majes?!? Two draws away is not bad. We need to win at home now and we will be fine. It is concerning that we can’t produce creative midfielders anymore but it is what it is. I don’t know why we don’t try Rigoberto in there. Playing him on the wing seems like playing him out of position. Coito has us looking solid on defense for the first time in a decade so very happy about that. I am also being a typical catracho fan and getting hyped about a quinto, Ellis, Moya front three with Najar giving them support on counters from the rb spot. Let’s go!!
No Reyna and Steffen too. Wish Elis was here, but this squad should be enough to collect our first three points of the Ocho.
If Elis was here we probably would have won that game vs ES. When he plays, he pulls defenders from every one and that speed is crazy.
