Well said. I may personally send this guy and the rest of the "scabs" a thank you card if this thing doesn't get resolved and they keep alive any chance for the USA to go to the next two world cups. On a side note, when I hear "labor dispute" I think of steel workers or longshoremen...I don't think of professional athletes...these sports strikes/lockouts never sit right with me.
BTW I didn't call him a scab (first), I was just referring to the newspaper article. They call them scabs. Although, by definition, that is what they are.
Making fun of someone's picture that they chose to run next to their articles in a community online newspaper is well, pretty darn childish. Golly gee. I think I've learned something here today. Thanks Big Soccer!
Hey, no one forced this guy into the spotlight. If he wants anonimity then he should get a screen name, not a cap.
California Jack, soccerwriter, and others..........you honestly expected more from the union "brotherhood" guys? For me it was everything I expected. They typically are afraid that someone might do the job as well or most likely better than they would and therefore have to result to personal insults to try and make their sad case.
Hey dumb-ass, that's the author of the story, not the keeper. Try reading the article/thread for a change. This is Dan Popik
You think that Landon Donovan is afraid of losing his place to an MISL player? I agree with Northside, BTW--if I was a minor-leaguer with no chance of making the Nats pool otherwise, I'd take this offer in a heartbeat. Hopefully, the 'regulars' will understand.
With one month's work he could probably make enough money to pay off whatever his tution costs are going to be when he goes back to school, even if they use the old agreement. That's one less financial burden on him and his family. If he still wants to play soccer, this might be the only chance for him to impress anybody, "scab" or no. At best, he gets to continue playing a the game he loves for a living. At worst, he paid for his degree. What incentive does he have for not going? What does Dan Popik, or any other player who's future does not lay in soccer have to gain for not accepting a call-up? Lest we forget also, if no players would accept to play, and we had to forfeit the Trinidad game, FIFA would probably be pissed enough to ban us from the next 2 World Cups. That doesn't help anybody.
True, but then the PA would have the USSF over a barrel, as no WC would mean financial loss for the USSF and SUM. The PA was probably counting on solidarity from all players at all levels to keep WC penalty pressure on the Fed. The USSF would do anything to prevent the aforementioned event from occuring which is why I am surprised that the PA is acting disappointed and surprised at the actions of the replacement/scab (for all audiences) players.
You know, now that I think about it, I learneds something here today too---that ACGreen is a tool! Hey, btw, I had no idea you were a GQ model who posts on BigSoccer. Something else I learned.
no, mr zedd you misquoted me. i said "as a soccer writer and someone who knows the author of the article in question I think I know mr. zedd is a childish biatch." get your facts straight.
