In many ways I want this match to be restarted so we can embarrass them.

As TyC reporters are saying, Brazil really doesn't come out losing from this... the match will likely not be played, and even if Argentina is awarded the win through CAS, they'll technically remain undefeated on the pitch throughout qualifiers with a comfortable cushion above the rest. Meanwhile, they avoid the possibility of another embarrassing defeat at home.

Of course they'll probably still try to claim the three points, but even if they leave empty-handed they'll win by protecting their morale.

Well I'm off. Bit of an anti-climax. We will see what the days ahead bring. I expect Alejandro Dominguez is rolling his eyes at this very minute as the phones ring off the hook.

One thing is for certain this game must be played on the pitch. Thanks to Bolsonaro for one thing. He has made the team even more united than ever before. Brothers in arms staff and players alike with all Argentines right behind them.

That’s the thing - the Brazilian official actually pushed Acuna when Acura tried to reach out to him.

Apparently the guys that came onto the pitch were ARMED

ARMED officials taking out argentinian players while the game was being played??

A couple thoughts from a non ARG/BRA person:

I think this is some bureaucratic BS. It seems that some Brazilian officials are probably at fault. However, it is far too early to say the Argentinians are blameless. I could easily see some AFA officials screwing up or fabricating some immigration paperwork. I could also see the AFA being informed before the game certain players couldn't play and deciding to play them anyways, thinking they would get away with it. This is the same fed that pulled Maradona out of a methadone clinic to coach the national team because...something, something...hand of god.

That said, from the Brazilian perspective, I think this was as much about poking the eye of Great Britain as it was about screwing with Argentina. Brazil has a weird complex when it comes to being treated fairly in immigration policy.

Until a couple years ago, there were three countries in the Americas that US citizens needed a visa to visit: Cuba, Venezuela and Brazil. Brazil was upset that the US requires Brazilians to get a visa to visit the US, so they required US citizens to do the same. That's they're prerogative, but it was pretty dumb considering Brazil's insistence on reciprocity cost the Brazilian economy billions in tourism revenue.

Basically, I think that is what this is about. Some combination of Brazilian health and immigration authorities are upset that Brazilians are being discriminated against in Europe (Great Britain in particular). Maybe Argentina also has some minor covid rules that make things hard on Brazilians. Either way, there was no way these officials were going to let some residents of England infringe upon the dignity of the Brazilian people by getting special immigration/covid treatment.

Everything. Lmao at the Brazilian mental gymnastics it would be half funny if they had any brain cells. If there were any problems then CBF should have notified comnebol and fifa immediately not pull a gangster move on the pitch. You saved face tho not losing again

Superior? Superior with all that fouling in the final, sure....

And of course, how foolish of me: AFA is a group of barefoot Carmelite nuns.
