At least at home they are. After tonight, they only have 3 home games left at Nissan Stadium. They are the only unbeaten home team in MLS (7 wins, 6 draws). They won their first road game of the season in Atlanta last week. Like Nashville, Chicago also has a schedule where they front-loaded their home games. The Fire won't play a home game for another month and only have 4 left at Soldier Field.
That Gary Smith went so long between MLS gigs befuddles me (2011-2020). But I guess two of those years were with Nashville in a lower division planning for what would come.
Yes they are. Interesting that Nashville is doing so well since it made the jump from USL, but Cincinnati is floundering.
Was it JP and Danny H. on the call? Sirius audio went away from it as well and I put on Ozzy. Didn’t change back as I got home before this snoozefest started.
Real question: where are good places to find conversations about the US national teams in which the participants enjoy watching and understanding soccer? The US Men’s boards are toxic sewers of misplaced certainty and cartoon anger, and I’m beyond tired of it. Asking here because, y’know, no point asking there.
Not here, we pretty much hate-watch every soccer game. Our teams winning do nothing for us and most of us in this forum would rather weekends full of Serie A naps, adventures in goalkeeping and hopefully a slate of boring draws. Thx, Jay!
Yeah, I legit thought Kai Wagner was going to beat the ever living sh!t out of Kessler. Marufo is usually pretty decent in the center circle, however he lost complete control of this match. Players didn't know what a yellow card was or a foul. Hde literally gave Harriel a yellow card, even though he was two feet from the revs player who tripped on the turf!!! And then keystone cops defending on the ensuing free kick allowed the Revs to score (that "defending" and "goalkeeping" there was shambolic, and that's being very kind). The second yellow he gave Traustason was charmin soft, and not a yellow IMO. Let a lot of elbows and physically play go uncalled throughout the match. It could be argued that Kessler should have seen red for throwing the second ball into the crowd so the Union couldn't take the throw in. There's time wasting....and then there's what he did. He literally took the ball off of the pedestal on the side line and threw it into the stands (seriously, Cam Newton would have been jealous of the distance he got on it!). Add in a frustrated Union side, with the Revs playing physical and goading the Union players and things just boiled over. Then Glesnes bodied him to the ground, and he milked it. Then Knighton's buddy came onto the field to take a post game selfie (knighton being a former Union player, probably should have known better than to behave immaturely). Then Kacper took offense and slapped the cell phone across the field. Kessler continued his immaturity, egging on Union players and the crowd....hence, handbags leading into the tunnel. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some disco suspensions for both teams coming. I wasn't planning on staying for the post game fireworks, but got to see some anyways!
I would say you're more likely to get some decent discussion here. Yeah, those other boards...you hit that nail on the head. Any attempt at objective discussion in the US Nat threads will quickly get smothered by the toxic misinformed group think. You'll be more likely to have some level headed non-biased discussion and analysis in these parts.
That's partially because 2010 playoff run aside, he wasn't very good in Colorado. Now I don't know how much he was hamstrung by KSE and Paul Bravo (and at the end, Tim Hinchey apparently), but you never got the impression the Rapids were ever going to be any better than "clinch one of the last couple of playoff spots in the last couple games of the season". Certainly you never felt he could do what Fraser has done in Colorado. Hey, the only one of those I like is the adventures in goalkeeping
Oh, and as much as Fraser is deserving of coach of the year....Arena should get it. He's performing miracles with the revs. Seriously, he's winning with Farrell and Kessler in defense, and the hot headed polster in midfield, along with Tommy Mac. I get that Bou, Buchanan, Turner and Gil are special players, but the rest of that roster.......is pretty average.
This is my case for Fraser winning COTY. Only two teams have 0 goals from DP's this year. Houston is one, and it shows in their results. The other is Colorado.
