You'll accept the result, but that was one of the biggest wastes of my time ever watching USMNT. Just looked like that midfield combination had never seen a training ground together. No chemistry, no imagination. Just a ton of long balls hoofed forward to nowhere, like we took a time machine back to Bob Bradly era Bunker Ball for Charlie Davies to chase down.
Us getting a point is less important than us denying them three points considering the other results.
I don’t see it with Juve, I don’t see it with USMNT. McKennie is a charming kid who is a bit player at best for a top club or national team. If we consider him one of our top 3 players, then it’s a problem. He’s put in shit performances at least half the time for the country. He’s not that good.
Gregg's teams never seem to create enough quality chances, especially given our talent advantage. We'll take the point but it's been a worrisome trend for some time now.
McKennie was really poor. Adams was strong. A lot of poor decision making overall. They’re young, shake it off, grow from it, on to Canada.
Decent result, think the players were pretty poor out there, but still had enough fight to keep being dangerous. We got the experience, take it from there
We were a couple of minutes away from Jamaica holding Mexico which would have really taken the sting out of this. Panama, Canada, Mexico, and El Salvador all failing to win at home would have been helpful, but damn if they didn't get that freaking late goal.
Anyone who thinks that performance was fine needs a check up from the neck up. Every single one of our players other than Konrad looked worse than they are in general/with their clubs. This team had maybe one good chance all game, the Acosta header (Pefok had an open header on a broken play as well). I guess the McKennie header was a good chance too. We were largely outplayed/played even by a team full of Salvadoran pro league players. We had 2 shots on target vs. ES' one shot on target. They had more possession, and more corners. We have people here happy with a point, people here saying our offense is fine, just needs slightly better finishing. That was embarrassing.
So even with the talent we have, we are still in "CONCACAF iz hard" mode? well, thats incredibly disappointing. I was absolutely expecting better than that, I freely admit. Only eyebrow raising performance was KDLF and Gio Reyna decided to show up in the second half.
I disagree. We need Mexico to kick the crap out of everyone except us. I don't want teams like Jamaica picking up points they shouldn't.
Ream best player? Maybe second to Adams only? Tells you all you need to know. Acosta was a sub. It should have been adams that moved to right back. Save his legs a little. Seems crazy, Gregg.
absolutely. This game was calling for a player like that. Hoppe plays and is subbed for Sargent I am confident we get 3 points
“How quickly will we qualify?” “This is the best team we’ve had” Can’t even win versus a bunch of USL players, and it would be something else if their goalie was Tim Howard vs. Belgium. Their goalie was our best player (like 7 giveaways) and we still couldn’t beat them.
Incredibly frustrating performance, but a point is a point. Learn from this and be ready to grab 3 points on Sunday.
Soooooooooo, the people who said that the minimum EXPECTATION (not "desire") was 7 points, what say you now? I hope we get the 7, but it was never going to be as easy as it was assumed here.
Italy 1 - Bulgaria 1 Sweden 2 - Spain 1 Bolivia 1 - Colombia 1 Qualifying is hard folks. Style and performance go out the window, and points are all that matter. We go through this every 4 years. We always have a talent advantage, The home field consistently evens it out
Nah the home field which gets players playing way beyond their abilities is just too much. Ain't no way those ES players are that goo away from that crowd.
