On paper you’re absolutely right. On the field that’s is not exactly the case. Lewandowski’s performance in the Champions League, especially in knockout matches, has been less than stellar. When you play Real Madrid in a Champions semifinal, but 2 of your 3 goals were scored by a fullback, while your main striker was missing chance after chance, there is something not right with the attacking. People keep talking about having to keep Lewandowski in order to win it, but in how long with such contribution? Plus he’s going to be on the wrong side of 30 soon, still commanding an immense transfer fee, and has been more and more showing interest in something else, not fully committed to the club. It would be a mistake if we don’t show some flexibility here and keep him at all cost.
To be fair I don't think Lewa's struggle at the sharp end of the CL is 100% his fault. Given a distinct lack of pace up top (ohne Robben) the team is relying on clever movement from him and Mueller. But IMO there is a distinct lack of craft in midfield to get the ball through to them in space. Teams can just defend narrow in numbers - partly why Kimmich becomes one of your most dangerous players
Yes too many things just didn't happen in our favour. Lewandowski has his fair share of blame but of course our elimination is a result of collective events, and the serious unfairness from Lady Luck. I'm actually happy if Lewy changes his mind and commits to Bayern for the next season. As of now I'm not that optimistic.
What does it say? I guess it's something like "Zidane told you he has resigned but you immediately realized you has hired Kovac", right Unless Zidane brought his fortune to Bayern, I don't think he's a much better option than Kovac, to be honest. The Kovac hire didn't really excite me, as I was (and am) still disappointed not getting Tuchel. However this time I feel much more confidence than for example in 2008 when we appointed Klinsmann. Time will tell but I'm sure hoping Kovac would be a success, rather than him being a failure just to prove that Uli is an oudated moron
Seems like United is still interested in Tolisso. They already wanted to sign him during the winter break when the bosses rejected Manchester's approach. Now there's news out of France that United are once again in talks with us over Tolisso and that we've set a € 35m price-tag. https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...er-news/man-utd-news-transfers-recap-18314956
Maybe they're clearing cash for Havertz? I only returned to regularly watching Bayern games under Hansi Flick so my picture of Tolisso is somewhat lacking but he hasn't shown much growth in 3 years, has he?
Good news for you @Boandlkramer Tolisso's agent denied being in talks with Man'Utd. Doesn't mean the transfer won't happen but at the very least it's not in advanced stages like the initial report suggested. https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...r-news/man-utd-transfer-news-tolisso-18401935
I find Sane transfer to be insane, why must bayern always be attracted to injury prone players, whomever makes the calls is insane. Sane isn't better than Conman though they're both prone to injuries
Puig from Barcelona and Dest from Ajax would be nice additions to the squad. Maybe another winger as well but that Musiala youngster looked promising enough on the left hand side yesterday. Might be worth to throw him into the mix permanently.
IN: Upamecano, Sabitzer, O.Richards, Ulreich Out: Alaba, Boateng, Javi, Dantas Loans: Nubel, Mai, Zirkzee, Fein, C.Richards, B+ window I think.
If they get some key extensions done you could upgrade it to an A-. Though the signs are not good in Kingsley Coman's case.
Kimmich's extension being a done deal, and Goretzka's being near completion is nice. I'm conflicted on Coman, depending on the fee paid to him, or for him, could be good business as well.
I dont think this squad fill fire on all cylinders like Flick's first year in charge, but I'm pretty confident that they will be better than any Kovac squad and the 20-21 team.
After the failed Palhinha transfer, it was reported Bayern was going to continue the pursuit in the winter transfer period. While that may yet happen, on the Bayern Insider Podcast you can read the tea leaves that it will not happen after all. No exit clause, even higher asking price after he signed the contract extension, Bayern docs flagged his knee, strong opposition from Hoeneß & Co. Those are all nuggets of information the club is probably leaking to temper the fan expectations for the coming transfer window. Basically the only reason we attempted to sign him at the eleventh hour was that Tuchel managed to convince our current CEO of the player's importance. It remains to be seen if that will still be the case in January.
