which former teammate threatened to kill CRonaldo? i mean talked some sense into him? https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2021/08...tract-details/ at least it makes sense. he would have been spitting in the faces of the United fanbase if he signed for Pep and Citeh.
Reading 510k a week. Which is a lot. But it's for 2 years and the transfer fee was nothing. Think it's really good business to keep him going from City, frankly. Don't know if this gets them a major trophy... but it's a good signing as far as I can tell.
he's nowhere near what he used to be. given the harshness and speed of the games, my guess is he has one medium-good PL season left in him. he'll be off to Inter Miami this time next year. edit: the Manure board is beating its head against the wall trying to figure out how the hell he'll fit into their lineup without screwing it up. and quite a few of them see this is a pure commercial decision, nowt to do with the football itself.
Can't stand Ronaldo but no denying he takes care of himself , can still play at a good level and will prove useful to Utd I'm sure this season. The wages are mind boggling though.
He still scores goals -- per90, he has 0.80 / 0.74 / 0.80 goals + assists - PKs for Juve in the last 3 seasons. He outperformed his npxG in 2 of those 3 years. And he doesn't have to play every minute for them, they can do just fine rotating him in sensibly I'd think. Rashford, Greenwood, even Martial can play up top depending on the opponent. Especially when you have Bruno in behind and Sancho on the wing. Probably going to do just fine for United for 2 years, then back to Sporting for his farewell season/s. Doesn't even prevent them from getting Haaland next summer, honestly.
hahahaha - Ronaldo is not getting rotated! by the end of October he will be picking the team himself.
he and OGS used to be teammates + OGS has won eff-all as a manager (Norwegian league doesn't count) = no way will he be telling CR7 how to play, where to play, how to behave .... just ain't gonna happen.
What demanding tactics do United need their 9 to execute? This isn't a Klopp side, he doesn't have to do some Bobby Firmino impression. This isn't a side getting caught out because their fullbacks are constantly flying forward, Ronaldo isn't going to be doing lots of defensive duties, surely... He needs to stay in position to give Sancho & Bruno space, get into space as an outlet on counters, and finish chances... think he's pretty capable of doing that for a couple more seasons. I'm saying he doesn't have to play every minute for them. "Rotated" or not, my point is they have perfectly capable goalscorers which can play up top for them against certain sides.
Hobo, he’s a good player but football is still an 11-a-side sport. A large number of Man U fans— not that it means much— do not believe that this makes their team contender for the championship but are just glad he’s not going to play for the other lot.
The best part about them signing him is he completely renders Bruno pointless, if their play with Portugal is anything to go by. Bruno and all his bullshit is what makes them tick and they brought in the 1 player who makes Bruno worse. Well done. They were always likely to end up 4th and I don't think this really changes that.
Just facts. No emotion involved, not on my side of this discussion at least... which is why I've been right about them for awhile now. I didn't say they were going to win the prem this season; they need a 6, at a minimum, for them to be considered favorites for that. But this squad, it's enough to be contenders... we've seen crazy things happen -- we've seen City get a couple injuries and drop points and look not incredible, we've seen Leicester win & Spurs come close, we've seen Chelsea's big signings not gel and get off to a slow start, and we've seen Liverpool look more vulnerable than they're used to. So is it possible for United to be fortunate this season and win the prem, if others are somewhat unlucky whether via injuries or whatever? Feels possible. Doesn't mean it's going to happen, I haven't picked them them to win it. Perhaps all of Liverpool, Chelsea, and City are more likely this season? I don't know, a lot can happen... I'm just saying, their trajectory is very clearly upwards. They are more capable now than they have been in years. Could they finish 4th? Yeah, for sure. I mean I'm not going to put money on it, but a lot can happen when things are this logjammed at the top of the table. And they probably should be glad he's not going to play for City... it leaves them more work to do if they are going to be clear title favorites.
I think we’re agreeing; in fact I’ll go as far as saying Man U has had a championship-winning squad for the last 4 seasons.
Ederson almost gifted the Arse a goal. passing across the face (!) of his goal near the right post, and Rowe almost deflected it into the net. arrogant and stupid.
