Wow, that's back to back months with Gil winning in June. Back to back wins has to be a club first, right? I don't think we managed to pull that off in the 2005-2007 Twellman/Joseph/Ralston/Dempsey glory seasons ? Confirmed with the history here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_Player_of_the_Month#2007
Can I just state that if I had uber wealth and ran the Revs, there is literally no sum of money that I wouldn't pay to bring Messi here, even for only 5-6 months. He would obviously fit the needle mover mold, on and off the field. If I could somehow play around within MLS rules to make it happen and he asked for $100 million dollars, I'd pay it. Won't happen, not deluding myself to believe it could be possible. I'm just saying that if I were Bob Kraft, I would pay an obscene amount of money to make it happen.
Arena channeling his inner Belichick today. If he'd ended this with "We're on to Toronto" I would have laughed a lot.

2021 Secondary Transfer Window grades for all 27 MLS clubs By Tom Bogert Wednesday, Aug 11, 2021, 05:31 PM He gives the Revs an A, simply because they didn't sell anyone. However, he points out that a year ago, he gave the same grade for the same reason to Philly, and they went on to win the Supporters Shield. So we've got that going for us. Which is nice....
I'd guess that's stuff they think they can improve. Much of the other stuff, that can't be taught/learned at this stage, he's got.
He's always been a bit prickly, but mixed in with good humor for the most part. But he's now moved on to embracing "obtuse" at this point. It's reasonable to ask for a basic status update on your team's key player, who is also the leading candidate for league MVP. Imagine if LeBron had an injury but no one was allowed to talk about it, and then if Lebron left, on the sly, to go to a different country for treatment. >> Let's just say there'd be a lot of questions to the team, and possibly to the league itself, if that were to happen. Bruce is REEEALLLLY taking advantage of the "No One Important Enough Is Asking The Questions So I Can Get Away With This Sort of Half-Ass BS" Air Cover due to lack of true major media interest in this team. I hope this is temporary. Maybe he relaxes a little bit again once some of the current events have progressed. >> The visibility/pressure profile has changed for him for the Revs for the first time - lot more people watching, lot more on the line now than at any point since he started. He's fielding extra attention on the team due to: - due to being in 1st, - due to having the GK Of The Year-apparent keeper, MVP-apparent midfiuelder, and possibly GoldenBoot-apparent striker - team is on near-record pace for points, - team has a possible serious injury to his MVP, - he has high level of European teams knocking, - and did not upgrade team at transfer window deadline while most team around them did. A lot of balls in the air, way up high - and at this point its a case of the balls may only have room to fall downwards if he missteps or fumbles. He's earning his pay for sure. Seeing the quotes/answers to press today, Bruce's press interaction seemingly becoming more and more Bill-like. Can almost hear "We're on to Philly"Press had legit questions on #NERevs Big Topics; his "answers" today seemed to land a fair distance away from full disclosure.— A Casual Fan (@A_Casual_Fan) August 6, 2021
According to Jeff Lemieux, this is the first time in Revs history the team has reached 40 pts in under 20 games.
Twenty games down. Revs are 13-3L-4T (43 pts), 2.15 PPG, with 8 of the remaining 14 games at home. Prior to this year, the Revs best season record-wise was 2005, when they finished 17-8L-7T, 59 points (1.84 per game), second in the Supporters' Shield race, 5 pts behind San Jose. The Revs started that year hot, going unbeaten in their first 11 (7-0-4), before a mid-year dip saw them reach the 20-game mark at 10-4-6 (36 pts, 1.80 PPG). So the 2021 Revs are 7 pts ahead of where they were after 20 games in 2005.
We've gotta be dangerously close to clinching a playoff spot at this point, no? I understand that the goal is Supporters Shield, and MLS Cup, but clinching the first playoff spot is a decent start, too.
Not quite. They have only played 59% of the season. With (on average) 15 games left to play, that's 45 points still available to each team below the playoff line. The Revs only have 43. So, mathematically speaking, they can still be passed by everyone. Columbus is the first team below the line in the East at the moment. They are 19 points behind the Revs, with 15 to play. (Note: Revs are only team in MLS to have played 20 games so far). So the Revs magic number to eliminate just Columbus is 26. In other words, it would take a combination of 9 more Revs wins or Crew losses to reach that point.
Buksa has been called up by Poland for their WCQ. So we will be missing Turner (I'm guessing), Buchanan and Buksa for a game or two.
It would be nice if he were more forthcoming, but 1) we knew this about him coming in, and 2) I'm more than happy to take the good with the bad.
Not surprising, but Gil replaced in the All Star game due to his injury. What was a surprise is that Buchanan was also pulled: Updated 2021 MLS All-Star Team Roster By MLSsoccer staff Update: Monday, Aug 23, 2021
It's not really a surprise when you consider how difficult it is to play a game in LA while simultaneously inspecting training facilities in Freiburg. Literally halfway around the world... https://www.canadiansoccernews.com/forums/topic/76414-tajon-buchanan/page/34/
Brugge or Bruges may be my favorite city in all of Europe. That place is amazing. Kind of partial to Belgium anyway since my daughter was born in Mons
From the thread GasPed posted above: Een beetje research en een aandachtig oog toont overduidelijke gelijkenissen. Naar mijn bescheiden mening; Buchanan is in Brugge! 🔵⚫️ pic.twitter.com/34mvavx6rG— Club Brugge Transfers (@transfers_1891) August 23, 2021

Tajon to Club Brugge seems to be going through. ~$7M transfer fee, 10% sell on clause, with a loan back to Revs until January.
