With one game left before the 2-week break, I think it's almost a certainty that they are targeting the 9/11 game to start working him back in.

And, the fact that they continue winning and playing well allows them to be as conservative as they'd like.

    I don't see a break on the schedule . . . am I reading it wrong?

I'm guessing there was an assumption the Revs were off for the international break in September but we are not with the game against Philly on 9/3. So you are correct, no break in the schedule and we are going to be missing some folks for that Philly game especially if Gil isn't back yet.

The Revs game in PHI on 9/3 was originally 9/15, but was moved to accommodate Philly's CCL match.

Our next "real" break is October. After the 29th of September (at Montreal), we don't play till the 16th of October.

Ah, I've got to stop relying on my printed calendar poster.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd really like an update on Gil's status.

Hoping him being an all-star MVP candidate out of the line-up tonight, I'm hoping the announcers have some sort of information that comes out.

The positive spin would be that they don't immediately know its season-ending and have to say something.

It's nice to be in a bit of a position where yes, of course having Carles on the field would be IDEAL.... but even if he wants to sit on the bench, fully healthy and not contribute for a game, while collecting a check, he's earned that.

I suspect that's not in his DNA, though.

All the injured players. This state secrecy over injuries is ridiculous, you aren't violating HIPA by letting us know player x should be available in a week or 2 or whatever the situation calls for.

Agree with this frustration. Regardless, I don't believe that either Buchanan or Gil can play this weekend due to skipping the All-Star game.

I would love to know if Luis Caicedo is ever going to play again.

I suspect this is an injury he could play with, but would get worse over time. So, worst case (IMO) is they shorten his season and save him for the playoffs. I don't think it's that serious that it would require in-season surgery. A lot of players get this kind of thing and play with it as long as they can tolerate it.

My fear is that he has a Dustin Pedroia knee. I think he may have had the same surgery.

I hope you're right. Normally, my pessimistic self would say you're wrong - he can't play with it, it won't heal, and he'll end up getting season ending surgery in October, which he could have had in August and still played in the playoffs. However, your interpretation is actually consistent with Arena's original reaction, which was to downplay the severity of the injury.

Arena's reaction is absurd with my pessimistic interpretation, but makes perfect sense with your more optimistic interpretation. I actually feel a little better, but would still love an update!
