Thing is, Boadu has simply been in poor form since last season. At best he’s a one-season wonder up to this point. After that one promising season he has consistently fallen short if emulating that performance.

I had hoped that a move to a bigger club would be the fresh new motivation he needed to hit the ground running. Guess I was mistaken to expect a miraculous turn-around. Hope he figures it out.

  3. What do they/you expect? He just signed, so I suspect he has close to zero training with the squad.

I expect very little to be honest from Boadu. It will take some time to regain his form/confidence and adjust to a new team/league/environment. That said, not being the worst player on the pitch would have been nice. Only a freaking 13 (!!) touches in 60 minutes according the stats website, and one shot on goal. It is not inspiring at all.

It just might be that he is not that good and AZ made a good bit of money from an average striker. We will see soon enough.

Memphis played pretty good today. He seems to be settling great on Barcelona line up. He is playing on the wings and through the middle too. Looked great on set pieces and linking up with his teammates. Let’s see how it goes on the full season.

Noa Lang opened his scoring account this season… to go along with an assist (3 total so far). One of the best players on the pitch, it seemed (stats-wise).

Berghuis is better than him for some reason.

Joel piroe has now socored 3 goals in 4 games for Swansea. 2 goals coming official in the championship matches. Good start for him at the swans. Not quiet sure why PSV sold when he could have been a back up striker for Zahavi.

He gets to start and that premier League money is crazy it's even if it's the second division that's very hard for the Dutch clubs to turn down.

Don’t know what the hell Malen is thinking but he has been awful

And Boadu to the bench for Monaco. I can’t see him making himself a starter anytime soon. Was way too early a move and way too ambitious. He proved very little at AZ last year and needs so much work still

It’s still early days, but both Malen and Boadu seem to not have hit the ground running. A place on the bench is looming.

Neither one is ready for top league football. I've never been keen on Malen and don't think he is going to make it. Boadu might but moving abroad was a huge mistake.

I’m pretty big on Malen and think he will eventually make it. But he is used to making great runs and finishing. He isn’t the focal point at Dortmund with Haaland there and seems out of place with their style early on. He is also not processing how much quicker the Bundesliga is than Eredivisie. Seems a bit behind on everything. Doesn’t have the same time and space and it shows.

Boadu is way too weak. Was just a pace merchant a few years ago and since teams figured him out he hasn’t adapted at all. Gets pushed off the ball, has weak control, and a terrible header for a striker. He left way too early and I really do hope he eventually figures it out but I don’t think he is as good as he may think. Once the competition gets stronger and quicker he is pretty fringey

I noticed that as well, he seemed almost pedestrian like compared to the rest of the players

  18. Has he been training full trottle with PSV, or was he kept aside too like Dumfries or spared from intensive training to prevent injuries?

Memphis pretty good today again, seems to be the only attacker with some ideas at Barça. Scored a great goal.

Had to miss the game, seems a good thing I did. However, seems like the Dutchies were the best players in the game. Both Frenkie and Depay got good ratings.

Agreed Boadu will have to dig deep if he wants to survive in Ligue 1. When ever the camera focuses on him, the only thing you read on his face is give me the ball. When the ball comes, the defenders bully him to tuck it away. He needs to understand the defenders in ligue 1 are more ruthless than eredivisie. Came on in the second half around 60′ with Moanco trailing 1-0. At max he must have had 5 touches in that 30 minutes which is reallly disappointing. I mean touches only.

I also watched Atalanta and Torino, if I compare boadu with Sam Lammers who also came of the bench around 56′ then lammers was much more effective compared to him. Dropped deep to link with midfielders, drew fouls and alway positioned himself in spaces ready to pounce on if the ball came his way. Its a pity Lammers hasnt hit the ground rolling yet but im telling you when he does and I hope with no injuries, he can be Nistelrooy esque striker. Again in my projection for 2024 and 2026. He was all bags packed and ready to go out on loan but injury to Zapata has delayed it and was in match squad.

Lang with another assist today for Brugge. 4 in 5 matches now.

Bergwijn had a relatively quiet game today. Very little action in the first half, with one key moment of his cross almost found an attacker in front of the goal (just a few inches behind). In the second half, he had one shot on goal nicely saved by the opposing GK. That said, Bergwijn started two matches in a row - taking full advantage of the Harry Kane saga. I guess that's a good thing after he was iced on the shelf last season by Mourinho!

Bergwijn was quiet in the first half but very good in the second half. Arguably Tottenham’s best player in the second half. Should have gotten an assist after a very slick move down the sidelines. The skill he showed there was incredible. Hopefully he continues to get a chance as he gets a bit stronger by the minute

Agreed. Bergwijn does well in an open-space. When his team is defending deep, he can be an dangerous weapon in an counter-attack situation. This season he needs to improve the ball handling, passing and overall decision making when his team has the ball in possession... that could only get better with playing time.

The new Spurs' manager seem to prefer an attacking style with three forwards (as opposed to Mourinho who liked to pack the midfield). So yeah, let's hope that Bergwijn gets plenty of minutes. Two matches are obviously not an indicator, but it's been encouraging to see him back on pitch after a tumultuous last season. Oranje NT could certainly use another attacking option!!
