He's with their U10/U11 team, so I suppose that I'm listing him for fun right now (and because of his terrific name). Isaiah Thomas GER / USA https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/info/nachwuchs/saison-20132014/e-junioren-u10u11/kader.html Best of luck to him.
OK, explaining a joke is akin to killing it, but here I go. The basketball player's name is Isiah. If you say it like it's spelled, it's eye-zi-uh. This guy's name has that first a, so it's pronounced eye-zay-uh. I waited in vain for many years for someone to call the basketballer eye-zi-uh. Sadly, it never happened.
So if I'm reading this correctly, Isaiah Thomas was on the U10/11 team for 2012/13 (based on the link above; but, oddly, an updated link to the roster for that same team no longer mentions him) and Elias was on the U12s that same year. http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/elias-thomas-at-vfl-wolfsburg.2015185/ It's possible that there is some kind of clerical error and they are the same guy, but they could also be brothers (or otherwise related). Anyone know?
U12 roster: Isaiah Thomas GER/USA https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/de/info/nachwuchs/mannschaften/d-junioren-u12/kader.html
Wolfsburg's U13 roster, updated about a week ago, lists a "Thomas Isaiah" without nationality. https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/de/info/akademie/mannschaften/c-junioren-u13/kader.html?size=43.7
He was with Wolfsburg U13s for 2016-17. Far right in the bottom row: https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/de/inf...?size=112.5%2523cntAnc%23searchAnc#mainNavAnc That would imply he's an '04. However, OWTY lists him, perhaps erroneously, as an '02. There's also the question of what if any relation he has to Elias.
Izzy is listed on the U14s now: https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/de/info/akademie/mannschaften/c-junioren-u14/kader.html?size=43.7 They don't list birth years. But some of his teammates are listed as '04s in various places. Seems hard to believe he would be playing two years down in this age range.
He's still at Wolfsburg, on the U15s, though for some reason his name is now spelled (at least, on the club's roster page) as "Isajah." https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/teams/junioren/c-junioren-u15/kader/ We have any reason to think he's also a son of Jacob Thomas (and a brother to Elias)? @Ger90, any idea? As a side note, scanning Wolfsburg's youth team pages I was interested to see a couple of Mexican guys listed there.
Here's pretty much confirmation that '04 Isaiah is US-eligible and the younger brother of Elias. Father is Jacob Thomas who played for the Crew. ✍ Player Insider Blog: From Germany to Casa Grande, Arizona – Meet Elias Thomas! 🔵🔴A talented player with skills that expand beyond the soccer field! 📸🎣⚽️https://t.co/cc8Bom03nt— Barça Residency Academy (@BarcaAcademyAZ) April 25, 2020
oh he's Elias Thomas's younger brother, interesting to know if he'll have more success than his older bro. he moves up to Wolfsburg U17 next season according to TM.
According to transfermarkt he is now with the Eintracht Braunschweig U-19s. https://www.transfermarkt.us/isaiah-thomas/profil/spieler/798799
