Midweek games are done...and all 13 of them reported attendance figures! After a long, long sojourn, Vancouver finally gets to play a game at BC Place (this weekend)!!
I can’t help but feel this sequence didn’t get enough appreciation in this thread. (i know, 11 games, many at the same time. But Lodeiro and Ruidiaz were on the field for 20 seconds, Lodeiro sets up Ruidiaz, who promptly gets a goal.. That’s just nuts.

I love how whenever Portland is holding onto a one goal lead late in the game Gio always puts on Valeri to close out the game. i adore Diego Valeri, but he has been a defensive liability for years. So, why in the hell do we keep rolling him out there when we are trying to close out a game? what is this? Five? Six times this year Portland has subbed on Valeri only to lose points??? it is getting old.
So its Heineken Rivalry Week now. This weekend the "Rivalry Week" games according to MLS are: Galaxy-Quakes - Well that's obvious Minnesota - KC - I know this is something that some people want to be a rivalry so I guess Columbus-Seattle - Um, ok? RBNY-NYCFC - Again, obviously But apparently these games are not important enough rivalries to be considered part of "Rivalry Week": Houston-Dallas Colorado-Salt Lake WTF MLS?
Houston hosts Dallas on Saturday. EDIT: I may have misunderstood your complaint. EDIT 2: Ah, they are promoting the games on National TV over the next two weeks.

Ah, I didn't realize they were just promoting the nationally televised games. That explains the list, but seems like the Rivalry Week promotion should be a thing about all the rivalry games being played, not just the ones picked for national TV. (Plus, barring a miracle, that Seattle-Columbus game is going to be ugly. They really should have picked a different game for that TV slot. You know, like one featuring a team in the top 3 of their conference? )
I haven’t seen any Portland games this year (well, other than this weekend’s), but is Gio putting in Valeri in for his defensive abilities, or his playmaking abilities? Obviously Portland’s defense is really bad, but you don’t hold a lead just by turtling up..
If only they had known prior to the start of the season when schedules are set that the MLS Champions would be bad this year…
Yeah, just like Colorado and Real Salt Lake... Neither team is deemed sexy enough to make it on national TV. Now watch, the 2 will play for the Western Conference championship in November, and the game will be blacked out everywhere but Colorado and Utah!
Couple of weeks ago: Jeremy Ebobise is very happy to be traded to San Jose where he can be the #9. Tonight: again, someone else at the 9 while Ebobise starts out wide like he did in Portland.
