Had a sh*tty stream, from what I could see Ake didn’t have much to do honestly as Spurs relied on the counter and more often than not executed it poorly.

Let’s see what happens in the second half.

I just got home in time for the 2nd half and noticed Aké is starting over Stones (who does not appear to be injured btw).

I hope you keep posting on our forum. You are very entertaining :ROFLMAO:

Andddd there it is. The classic backing away by Aké like I’ve mentioned before until the attacker has enough space to shoot. Son makes a fool out of Aké. The commentators were mentioning it too, just GO AT HIM. Get a foot in. Smh.

Stones only just returned to training on Tuesday, which explains why he’s on the bench. He’ll be there for sure next time, especially after this.

Hahaha Ake did exactly what you said. Just backed up and let the shot go through. I really don’t rate him and if he is starting for Oranje I think there are big issues

Yah Ake is very average. Just no stand out skills. Thought it was such a weird buy for a team like Man City

Yep. Seems that he didn’t change that aspect of his game which is why I continue to rate him the way I do, to the despair of certain apologists…

Stones is even weaker one vs one. He doesn't do this better.

You gotta give Son some credit on that goal also though

It doesn’t matter if it shows his one-on-one stats. The point is he’s better than Aké which means the latter will be benching until he’s injured or suspended.

Furthermore, where’s your proof for your claim about Stones? You just saw my proof in today’s game. I’ll wait for your proof…

Edit: Just did a quick check and I wonder if you guys just make up stuff as you go. Ake was never an actual starter. It was between Diaz, Laporte and Garcia. Smh.

Again, missed the point. If he has a knack for these foolish mistakes than he’s not trustworthy as a CB, full-stop.

He also shows a propensity to NOT want to learn from making the same mistake over and over.

Still waiting on your proof for the Stones claim.

Waiting? I didn't see that post and can't be that fast. Calm please.

Look at SofaScore: last season Stones got dribbled past twice as often on a per game rate.

    That's an indication.

Ake has the physical attributes to be better one vs one. Last season he was the preferred choice, until his injury.

It is indeed very possible Stones will be preferred again. Be it on merit or by fan pressures etc.

So you think that playing most games as a starter gives a fair representation as opposed to someone playing a handful of games.

If Luuk de Jong scores 6 goals in two games and Messi scores 2 goals per game over the whole season. What would be the goal per game stats?

C’mon man. Let’s be serious. Aké will never be better than Stones. There’s no indication to suggest otherwise as the facts disprove that claim. Makes y’all seem desperate more than anything.

Lastly, I’m calm. Don’t need to call out my mood just because you can’t give an accurate representation of the facts.

And no, last season he was not the preferred choice. I checked.

He was starter at the beginning of the season. Until his injury, including Arsenal and that sort of opponent. Just check that link.

Second: 1000 minutes is a decent sample size. Stones with 2800 minutes didn't play everything either.

Aside from his miss I thought Bergwijn played well also (I only watched 2nd half though)

Bijlow should be the starter moving forward. A Bijlow/Drommel combo is pretty decent

Malacia I’m still stuck on. There are times in a game I really enjoy his style. Has quick feet and can have some bite. But I find he just falls in and out of a game too much. Just doesn’t assert himself enough and drifts too much. I do like his potential but he isn’t ready for the LB spot yet but not many options right now

Til had an interesting match. He missed way too many big chances. His finishing was poor but he also got himself in nice positions a lot. He moves around pretty nicely even if he comes across as not super quick. He looks taller than six feet. Maybe longer legs? Not sure why it is

Ake started 9 games last season in the Premier League, Stones 22. Ake had an average of 80 mins per game vs 88 from Stones. Do the math.

Furthermore, I certainly hope you don’t include the FA cup and other games vs 2nd and 3rd division teams into the mix when making the comparison… smh.

In the CL Ake started 2 games and got dribbled past 0,5 times. Stones started 8 amd got dribbled past 0,1 times.

Comparing Ake to Stones is a waste of time they are both nothing more than average defenders. Flip a coin and see which starts for ManCity. The point remains, Ake is not good enough for the Dutch NT as a starter. He is only a useful substitute.

You said: "Ake was never an actual starter".
Puckie proved you are wrong (again). He did start a bunch games.

Thats why you should never say never :D
(oh snap, I just said it twice :()

I still think Stones is better, and the fact that he is the main starter next to Diaz attests to it.

We do agree on the last point.

Depay starts today. I hope he doesnt flop @ Barca. I dont think he will, but you never know. Koeman needs to be a strict ather figure for him. No more bullshit solo dribbles like he did at the Euro
