Wow Arsenal looked totally ass today. And to think they could have had Pulisic...

    https://dailycannon.com/2021/04/christian-pulisic-arsenal-trial/

According to former Arsenal head of youth recruitment Steve Morrow, Pulisic spent time with the club as a young teenager before joining Dortmund.

“Through our connections in the States, Christian was one that I actually had over at London Colney as a 14-year-old,” Morrow said. “He came in and did quite well, but he was small and underdeveloped physically when he came to us.

“I did see his potential but he was certainly behind physically in terms of the same age group with our boys. I wanted to bring him back again, but it just didn’t work out and he went to Germany unfortunately.”

    ----

Bad scouting, when the only thing you care about in a 16 year old is how big he is.

Dimwits. At times there is much too much emphasis on ‘physicality’ with youth players. So stupid, IMHO

And sometimes it's perceived physicality. What if there was no need for a player to showcase it when he was trying out that day or week whatever. A lot of this stuff is really subjective anyways. Good thing he went to Dortmund to get a second opinion.

He said he did well and wanted him to return, so it doesn't seem they were as concerned about his physicality as you guys are making out. He was small. He still is. But as the former Arsenal man said, they still wanted him to come back.

If Messi had come to them, they would send him back to Argentina right away since he was a tiny midget.

Lol. The number of times a guy scores a "anybody could have scored that" goal in a game where our guy doesn't score always cracks me up...

It is difficult. You never know who will grow and who won’t. A glance at the parents always helps;)

Conversely, “nobody else could have scored that goal/made that pass/etc!” when it goes our way with a nice goal.

so funny because the one team that CP has been consistent against is Crystal palace.

    Fans are idiots.

Chalobah starting too, so it looks like a 5-2-2-1. Kova and Jorginho in CM, Werner at the front, and Mount/Puli on the sides. Hopefully CP is on the left.

I guess Havertz needs rest. Too bad. That is a toothless attack except for CP. I suppose TT wants to defend and hope that CP creates something here or there.

    Palace 3, Chelsea 1

No! He is waiting for Werner to awaken and fulfill his destination as a dominator in the EPL. All he needs is a ball in space and he will do the rest. Those other guys next to him have to be alert to his graceful and insightful off the ball movements, or else.

Sorry. I went off a little.

Just kidding. Also Pulisic looks terrible. Indecisive, not dynamic.

It really seems like CP has been unlucky to have not scored more goals like that for Chelsea over the last season or so. He makes so many good late runs into the box... I would expect more poacher goals from him like this one. At any rate... I fully expect him to rotate in and out this season because Mount is going to get the lion's share of the starts and TT has clearly shown that he believes in Werner despite his relative waste of chances. I still think CP will see a decent share of games as a sub and starter... but I think the latter might be dependent on squad health. I hope I am wrong and TT gives him a legit shot to beat Werner and Ziyech out by giving him enough minutes. This was a good start. WTG CP. Now go out and get another.
