Believe it or not that is real, the game is currently on ESPN 2 (that’s right this is the USL game they put on TV and not ESPN+) if you want to check it out for yourself…

OMG - I wish all the best to the Roots, but so far they look like the Spinal Tap of soccer.

Like Nigel writing inches instead of feet for their stage design element, the Roots owner giving the wrong RGB values for the new pitch he ordered.

My eyes hurt watching just that 25 sec clip. Wonder if it is a bit better in the stadium.

I can't believe that's real. I mean it's better than the patch work piece of shit it replaced, but not by much. Also apparently there were some footing issues on it too. Wonder if they forgot to take the shrink wrap off it or something.

First the Roots field is a checkerboard mess that can't be played on. Then they replace it with a real life recreation of a florescent FIFA '95 field. Now they've apparently partnered with Puma and pissed off some of the few fans that are still showing up...

Antisemitism is the one form of discrimination that the left is all on board with...

Um... that's just a BIT of a specious argument don't you think?

No - because I'm Jewish (and quite liberal), not a zionist and I have been called a dirty Jew and worse by folks and had to fight my way out of some situations because apparently I am responsible for all of the ills of the world - including what Israel's government does or doesn't do. However, I am not going to have that argument here, because this isn't the place for politics.

No argument, just curious as to why you think that "the left" as a whole is ok with anti-Semitism as that's a pretty broad accusation to make. My experience says otherwise as most on "the left" are smart enough not to equate Israel, and criticisms of that country, with Judaism generally.

Obviously what you've experienced is deplorable, infuriating and unacceptable regardless of who was saying it to you or their political leaning.

Let's just say this - most folks in the middle 90% are cool. However, in my experience, the radical elements on both the right and left agree on that one thing. I experienced the former during my time living in Idaho and the latter in CA.

Watched the Oakland Roots over the weekend. They won their last game of the season against 1-0 Sporting KC 2 to squeak into the playoffs. Quincy Amerikwa challenging for a ball over the top caused the goalie to spill it and it fell to another Roots player to rifle home for an early lead that they held onto for the rest of the game.
And that field they play on makes it looks like you are watching a video game.

Even if we go with your premise...
"the one?" "the left?" "all?" etc etc

Hey it worked for the Sounders with their Xbox jerseys and aesthetics. And it worked for a lot of big money clubs overseas to prioritize investment in a bunch of speedy stepover kings... to cater to social media and sell jerseys and a video game/fantasy version of the sport.

In general I don't like to say "all" about anything, but there is a strong current of anti-Israel sentiment among the left, a reason that many of the more vocal Jewish supporters of Israel are also huge fans of tfg.

American Jews may or may not agree with Israeli politics -- that's another discussion -- but most support the state as a safe haven. Meanwhile, there is more than enough anti-Semitism to go around, even in the politically correct Bay Area.
