I still can not believe they think Haaland is worth 75 million for ONE season.... Something very very fishy there.

Yeah I don't get that either. I'm taking 175 and not looking back. Chances are they're not winning anything anyway

I had no idea they were letting the public into this - until I ran into some Dortmund fans on the street - or i would have been there. As it is, I will watch the match from downtown Wiesbaden.
Also, the Germán fans were super hyped about Gio.

Theoretically, but I had dinner reservations with my wife and daughter, and they are less than ideally flexible when it comes to my futbol whims. It is also the first day of the Wine festival, so trade-offs come into play. The most frustrating aspect is that the Brita stadium is in view of where we are staying.

Not going to happen. Entschuldigen Sie, bitte.

But rest assured, if any other yanks play against the mighty 3.BL Wiesbaden in the next several years, I will be here to provide my typically jaundiced eye reportage.

Oh no worries it just blows my mind he hasn’t been replaced. Mediocre player and not young for BVB either anymore.

How good was Gio today? Wow. He was great playing his new role in the middle. I feel like he is terribly unlucky w/ his assist numbers. He played several perfect thru balls in today and the only one put in came off a keeper deflection... so no assist. How that kind of ball can't be called an assist is beyond me. Also took most of the corners and did well... also could have had an assist on his last one... but alas... the numbers will say he didn't get on the scoresheet but he was pure class today. He is going to have to keep it up because that roster is loaded.

Agreed. He was basically perfect in the middle third of the field. Just needed a little more decisiveness in the final third.

    Gio has been fantastic.

my prediction of 25 g/a should’ve gotten off the ground today. But that’s soccer. I now feel even more confident. I know he’s better than anyone they have currently. Brandt for sure and reus will inevitably be hurt.

Imo, Reyna might be the best player in the pool. I think it will probably between him Adams, Pulisic, and Mckinnie this season.

Very impressive. I agree with the previous poster saying he might be the best player in the pool, and I think he's going to show it this year. Don't forget that last year was really his first full year, and most were expecting him to be mostly used as a sub/spot starter.

We don't have any other player so comfortable in possession, but simultaneously dangerous. Pulisic is best getting the ball and running at players. McKennie/Adams are workhorses. Reyna is more a magician, and really doesn't seem to have many weaknesses to his game. He's composed on the ball, he's fast enough, he's strong on the ball for such a young kid. His finishing seems good, and he's a great passer.

Now that I don't have to waste time watching Sargent in the BL anymore, I can turn my focus to catching most Dortmund matches. Hopefully this season goes a bit better than last, where they seemed to really have difficulties until they figured it out in the end.

Tangentially, I hope Gregg sees these matches and realizes he should be put in the center of the pitch, and to build the team around him.

Agreed with recent posts. Gio is the one player in our pool who has ballon D’or potential. I’m not saying he will definitely get there, but he is already a very good player, and he has a lot of potential as well. It’s not difficult to imagine him becoming a De Bruyne type of player.

I forget who the interview was with, but during last season I remember hearing a journalist in Germany stating how the sense they have at Dortmund is that Reyna is going to reach even higher heights than Pulisic.

He make everything look so easy when what he is doing is most certainly not.

It’s a little weird for us old people to see Gio becoming everything we hoped for/thought his father could be in Europe but wasn’t quite good enough or given the chances perhaps. Instead of assists he spent a lot of his career playing much “safer” or playing defense/defensive. Known for the back pass and playing right back - and perhaps not the best physical tools for durability and the top level (iffy hamstrings). Junior is ticking so many boxes - can he put it all together over a long career?
