Hi everyone, Starting this now only because we have some welcome news about the first qualifier to next year's Concacaf League: there will be one! Canadian Premier League releases 2021 season format. Details below. The playoff format is a winner in my opinion. #CanPL pic.twitter.com/XE1Jua3br4— Michael Leach (@LeachCityNewsTO) June 24, 2021 The CanPL season will take place (no idea how they'll shoehorn in the pending 2020 Voyageurs' Cup Final or this year's tournament), with the change that there will be one unified regular season with the top 4 going on to single-leg playoffs. @Robert Borden

I guess I just missed this point completely: the Panamanian league has now shifted to a spring-fall season. ¡𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗔 𝗔𝗖𝗨𝗠𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗗𝗔 📋!Tabla acumulada del torneo apertura y clausura 📉 #LaNuevaEra pic.twitter.com/hzOrdLshxT— LPF TIGO (@LPFpanama) August 31, 2021 @nfiniti @DaniChandler so how would this work with qualification for the next Concacaf League? Would the full-year table (for determining which runner-up gets the last CL ticket) include the 2021 Apertura and Clausura, or the 2021 Clausura and the 2022 Apertura?
Let me do a proper research about this because normally champions of Apertura and Clausura qualifies to the CL and also the best of overall table through the year (cumulative), I haven’t read anything different but I will post again to confirm it
We have our first continental qualifiers for this season - including a debutant! Both come in riding the regular-season table after their respective Liga MX semifinals finished dead even (and both with handbags to boot! ). And, given that the MEX1 and MEX3 berths are on offer, both will be in Pot 1 for the 2023 CCL draw Elsewhere, we have a couple finals set: FINAL| Real Estelí 2-0 Walter Ferretti| Global: RE 6-1| Real Estelí clasifica a la #FinalNica. pic.twitter.com/8xKAKPcttU— FutbolNica (@FutbolNica) December 5, 2021 FINAL| Diriangén 2-0 Managua FC| Global: DIR 4-1| Diriangén clasifica a la #FinalNica pic.twitter.com/ZNSsAGVIxo— FutbolNica (@FutbolNica) December 6, 2021 Uno de los dos buscará la Gran Final del Apertura 2021 en la Liga Promerica 🔥💪🏽#LigaPromerica #Unafut #Apertura2021 #FaseFinal pic.twitter.com/NCtqivSYly— UNAFUT (@UnafutOficial) December 6, 2021 ¡𝙇𝙊𝙎 𝙏𝙄𝘽𝙐𝙍𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 🦈 𝙎𝙊𝙉 𝙀𝙇 𝙋𝙍𝙄𝙈𝙀𝙍 𝙁𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙇𝙄𝙎𝙏𝘼 @herrerafc_! #LaNuevaEra pic.twitter.com/OYnBPaiJys— LPF TIGO (@LPFpanama) December 5, 2021 ¡𝗟𝗢𝗦 𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗢𝗦 🐃 𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗘𝗟 𝗦𝗘𝗚𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗢 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗔! #LaNuevaEra pic.twitter.com/MHDhCa5Ici— LPF TIGO (@LPFpanama) December 6, 2021 2023 CCL Qualifiers 1. Passing by with a quick qualifying roundup: NORTH AMERICA Canada - Nothing to report here until the Canadian Championship returns next year. USA - Nothing to report for now, with the 2023 CCL qualifiers emerging from the 2022 season. Mexico - The second leg of the Atlas/León final is in 30 min... for our purposes, the only tangible takeaway (with both already set for Pot 1 in the 2023 CCL draw) is that if this tournament's runner-up goes on to win the Clausura, the hand-me-down berth would go to América thanks to topping the Apertura regular season table. CENTRAL AMERICA Belize - Good news: the Premier League has resumed! Still in the regular season, it appears. Guatemala - In the quarterfinal stage, with the Apertura Final likely to take place around Christmas... what is it with the Guatemalan league and late finishes? El Salvador - We have a regular vs. a debutant in the Apertura Final, as Alianza take on Platense next Sunday. Honduras - Olimpia will face Real España in the Apertura Final, with the first leg next weekend and the next on the 22nd. Nicaragua - Diriangén took the 1st leg of the Apertura Final against Real Estelí 1-0. CARIBBEAN Nothin' doin' until next year's regional tournaments - we'll see if Concacaf brings back the pro and semipro tiers, after allowing Inter Moengo Tapoe to qualify directly blew up in their face

Another weekend of updates from Central America: First, the Premier League of Belize decided to make some waves on its way back, becoming the first Central American league in recent memory to eschew playoffs. Verdes FC won the Opening Season, and now have the inside track on Belize's berth in the next CL. Next door in Guatemala, the Apertura Final is set, as Comunicaciones will take on Malacateco. In the Caribbean, Concacaf has announced that the semi-pro Caribbean Club Shield will take place in Puerto Rico in April, followed by the pro-tier Caribbean Club Championship in the DR in May. The field: Caribbean Club Shield Deportivo Nacional (Aruba) SV Real Rincon (Bonaire) Scholars International SC (Cayman Islands) CRKSV Jong Holland (Curaçao) Southeast FC (Dominica) AS Gosier (Guadeloupe) Golden Lion (Martinique) Bayamon FC (Puerto Rico) Platinum FC (Saint Lucia) Junior Stars FC (Saint Martin) Flames United SC (Sint Maarten) Inter Moengo Tapoe (Suriname) SWA Sharks FC (Turks and Caicos Islands) Caribbean Club Championship Atlético Vega Real (Dominican Republic) Cibao FC (Dominican Republic) Arcahaie FC (Haiti) Violette Athletic Club (Haiti) Cavalier SC (Jamaica) Waterhouse FC (Jamaica) Yet again, the T&T Pro League's nowhere to be found... The draw will happen tomorrow morning; and the CL/CCL qualification is the same as pre-pandemic: Championship winner to CCL Championship runner-up & 3rd place to CL Championship 4th place plays off with Shield winner for the last CL berth
And the Caribbean Club Championship draw: Btw: although immaterial to the CCL, I completely forgot about this. @Robert Borden any word on when/if the 2020 Final's gonna happen?
Most likely will never happen. The president of the CSA gifted a CCL berth to Toronto FC. Fun fact, his son is in TFC academy... TFC have him in their pockets
Forge to @Robert Borden : Shut yo' mouth! That game will happen on June 4... But for our purposes, the more important update is that the Voyageurs' Cup draw happened tonight. Will share the image once they include the hosting duties (each round will be played as one-offs, with the hosting duties decided in tonight's draw), but the CPL made out like a bandit: Montreal and TFC are on the same half of the bracket, so all they have to do is eliminate Vancouver early (again) and one of their own will be in the Final!
'bout time for a CCL roundup... soon The main update for now is that the Caribbean Club Shield won't spit up any debutant on the continental stage (although strictly speaking, I don't think the hosts have participated in the Concacaf League...): Bayamón FC and Inter Moengo Tapoe will contest the Final, with the winner set to playoff against the 4th-place finisher from the pro-tier Caribbean Club Championship for the last CL berth. Mind you, the Caribbean Club Shield winners have a perfect record in said playoff
It had gone completely under my radar (and Wikipedia's!), but everything's done and dusted in Belize... and Verdes are back! Meanwhile, Bayamón made the most of their hosting duties and never-say-die attitude to take the Caribbean Club Shield title, leaving them one game from returning to the continental stage. Lastly, a quick question further up north: so far, the CanPL winner has qualified for the following year's Concacaf League... but there won't be one in 2023. And with the CanPL getting 2 CCL berths from 2024 on, has any solution been floated for the transition? My first thought is to have the 2022 and '23 winners qualify, as opposed to taking the '23 CanPL finalists and leaving this year's champ out in the cold... @Robert Borden 2023 CCL Qualifiers 1. Club León [MEX2 or MEX3] 2. Atlas [MEX1] 2022 CL Qualifiers 1. Pacific [CAN2] 2. Tauro [PAN1 or PAN2] 3. Diriangén [NCA1 or NCA2] 4. Alianza [SLV1 or SLV2] 5. Herediano [CRC1 or CRC2] 6. Olimpia [HON1 or HON2] 7. Malacateco [GUA1 or GUA2] 8. Verdes [BLZ]
According to last year's Concacaf League regulations (btw: no one picked up on the typo in 5.1.5.1? El Salvador still has three berths AFAIK), among Central American leagues, Costa Rica remains the only one that does not give preference to runners-up; so besides the Apertura and Clausura champs, the remaining berth(s) go down the full-year table. Meaning that as Cartaginés currently max out at 77 points, table-leading Alajuelense just need 4 more to secure their next CL appearance.
According to FutbolNica, the Clausura regular season has drawn to a close, with Apertura champs Diriangén topping the full-year table. Meanwhile, León somehow failed to reach even the play-in round of the Mexican Clausura playoffs, so there are no more hand-me-down scenarios at hand there. 2023 CCL Qualifiers 1. Club León [MEX3] 2.
