The neckbeard nads over on reddit funing rn because they dont understand why more time was added after the Canadian player went down (after being kneed by his own teammate). Talmbout how concacaf helps us all the time, reminiscent of 2015 vs Panama... How you gonna be that ardido about a team that isn't your team losing lmao
Mexico is next to the country with the best sporting culture, yet they’ve never thought to hire dietitians, physical trainers, personal trainers, masseuses, strength coaches, agility coaches from the US. They need to build a sporting culture in order to take the next jump internally.
It's tumingbout!!! Tumingbout this tumingbout that... Look whatcha done did @azulcremaporvida @SixKick
Mexico adds another one to the curse of the Gold Cup semifinals. Since 2003, where we got a easy win against Costa Rica in Estadio Azteca, it's been : 2005: Eliminated in the QF 2007: 1-0 win against Guadeloupe where Mexico was expected to do a lot better. 2009: Beat Costa Rica in pks. Sabah missed a PK in regular time and then Costa Rica tied in the last minute of regular time in the famous "maldita sea" telecast. 2011: 2-0 win against Honduras in which Mexico had to win in Extra time in the toughest matchup in that tournament. 2013: Eliminated by a 2-1 loss to Panama 2015: Won in a robbery match against Panama. One of the worst games in Mexican history in which Mexico should have gotten a red card to Vela, Panama went down to 10 players and still were better and got a deserved lead before the controversial PK call that to me was a free kick 2017: Loss 1-0 to Jamaica 2019: 1-0 win against Haiti once more in extra time and needing a PK 2021: 2-1 injury time winner after another tough game. Before that we also had golden goal win against Jamaica in 98 and one by 1-0 to Guatemala in 1996. And we also got eliminated in the semifinals by the United States in 1991, so that it's always a tough horrible game for Mexico.
Clubs and teams that can do that shit but overall there just isn't money all around for stuff like in the top countries. Mexico needs to improve their sporting culture compared to other Latin America countries but stuff like that isn't going to be available just because the US is next to them.
No offside there. Just a ridiculous decision to play a high line against one of the fastest teams in the region.— Eric Gomez (@EricGomez86) July 30, 2021 Mexico has played on the knife's edge for this entire second half. Errant passes and isolation on offense, and a very unnecessary high line on defense against a very speedy team. Don't understand this strategy at all.— Eric Gomez (@EricGomez86) July 30, 2021 I think Gomez is right on this. People complained about Osorio but one of the best things is that they guy studied the rivals and had the problems of overthinking stuff but at least did his homework. Don't think Tata does that. He was asked about why he didn't call up Marcelo Flores for the sparring he did with young players and he says that he talks to the coaches and they decided which players to call up so as to fit the style he wants to prepare for, but that he doesn't decided which player and leave it up to the coaches. That's something Osorio would have been on top of. Canada was the better team in the 2nd half . Unlike some people here say they were never bunkering. They were better prepared for the match and although you have to take the mental aspect about the horrible news about Zizinho and how it affected the team, stuff like "Tajon Buchanan has been the revelation of the tournament, we have to be careful with him" is something that I doubt they knew going in to the game.
When it’s between Fox Soccer or Pablo Ramirez & the Univision clowns, it can be a pretty tough choice Might as well just flip a coin
Tata probably edges a close victory vs the nads on the weekend. I'm honestly not even convinced he gets canned if he loses. He's not the worst coach we've had but we aren't reaching any new milestones with him. And I know that's not even mainly on him, we need to develop and export better players. But given what he has to work with, I haven't seen him do anything to indicate we might overachieve at the World Cup.
They were bunkering in the first half and their gameplan was to win the battle in the midfield and counter, but Eustaquio was out of his depth. In the second half they didn't bunker, they changed their backline from 5 to 4 men and started the high press and to exploit our flanks. Now, contrary to what Canadians and USAmericans are saying, Mexico was already in control before the chant stoppage (not just after) and Canadians looked gassed (just as Mexicans but we weren't relying on speed and the press) so I think we'd won at ET anyways.
I agree about they failing with Eustaquio but battling in the midfield but sitting back and actively looking to counter isn't bunkering. The only team that really bunkered was Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala. Bunkering is when you actively set up to defend and the counters only come a la Costa Rica against the Netherlands in 2014 or the US against Spain in 2009. In fact it might be a problem in that it's what Martino expected and yet it hasn't happened. Veremos.— Ricardo López Si (@Ricardo_LoSi) July 30, 2021 I would think that if Canada was out of it, which they might as well could be, then they would have bunkered in ET and looked for Pks. That being said I'm in total agreement about Mexico having the ball and finishing better. It was total BS from that dumb idiot Ghost in the US thread saying that the chant stoppage changed the momentum when it came after Funes Mori had been inches from scoring from a header, a better chance than any that Canada had besides Buchanan's goal.
When teams are losing and start pushing and looking for a way to “start a fight “ with the winning team, it is in hopes that the winning team gets players carded or ejected so that the lose team players for the next match(es) Mexico had more possession (its not always good), more shots, better pass accuracy, etc… Si la zaga mexicana hubiera corrido y no descuidarse de Buchanan dando la jugada como fuera de lugar, la dinámica de la selección mexicana y el partido hubiera terminado en el estandarte 2-0 en los partidos vs Canadá
I rewatched part of the match and Salcedo and Moreno were playing awful. Guti is like the low gear on automatic transmissions. There pero de nada sirve for everyday practical use
To your point the clubs can but it doesn't look like they are at least compared with Euro clubs. Lainez looks like he's put on probably 10 to 12 lbs of muscle since moving to Real Betis. Same with Chicharito after he left... some duses might be naturally stockier but it appears that most LigaMX clubs don't put as much emphasis on weight training and nutrition.
